00:00Ownership of firearms is not the province of the chattering classes.

00:09It is not for those of us who have too many guns and we wish to donate guns because they're too powerful to the police service.

00:22Attorney General John Jeremy standing his ground regarding comments he made in reference to the opposition

00:28as he wound up the debate on the government's stand-your-ground legislation in the House of Representatives.

00:34Earlier in the debate of the 2025 Home Invasion Self-Defense and Defense of Property Bill,

00:39opposition MP Colm Inbert quoted comments made by the Attorney General.

00:43And then the Attorney General goes on to say,

00:47practically all of the members on the front bench opposite, all, practically all,

00:53have not one, not two, not three, sometimes four and five firearms.

01:00Yet they tell ordinary citizens, none for you.

01:04That is a blatant untruth.

01:07A blatant untruth.

01:10MP Inbert did not stop there.

01:13And I can say without fear of contradiction that the vast majority of members on this side

01:17do not have two, three, four guns.

01:21Several of us have none.

01:24And I would like to know, how did the Attorney General get this information?

01:31How did he get this information?

01:33I thought that was personal and private information that is under the control of the Commission of Police.

01:41The Attorney General made reference to a campaign promised by the government

01:45as he did not retreat from his remarks about the opposition.

01:49We say that we should democratize the ownership of firearms.

01:55And that is separate and apart from what is before us this afternoon.

02:01That is where we are going.

02:04If it is good for your financiers, you know where they are and you know who they are

02:10and you know what they have in their houses.

02:14If it is good for them, it is good for our supporters, our law-abiding supporters as well.
