00:00Speaking at a political meeting in Las Lomas, Kamala Passat-Bissessa promised the state will help with cultivation of marijuana by way of incentives and quality control, among other measures.
00:12She said TNT lacked marijuana dispensaries and quality controls, leaving people to bide from street dealers fueling gang violence.
00:21While addressing the crowd last evening, Mrs. Passat-Bissessa quoted from the UNC manifesto promoting the marijuana industry.
00:28So the UNC will implement a comprehensive framework to regulate large-scale cultivation, agro-processing, and export cannabis, which all are essential for unlocking this industry's full economic potential.
00:49Did you know that the global market, cannabis market, is projected to exceed U.S. dollars 100 billion, U.S. dollars 100 billion by 2030, with demand spanning medical marijuana, oils, and edibles.
01:07And she explained what it meant for TNT.
01:10For Trinidad and Tobago, this represents an opportunity to position marijuana as an agricultural product akin to show gain of the pass and cocoa, where small farmers can participate alongside larger entities in cultivation or agro-processing.
01:29She said this is not about encouraging recreational use, but creating an organized sector that benefits farmers, entrepreneurs, and investors while adhering to international laws.
