A musical adaptation of Mel Brooks' movie is set for fall, while the comedy will go live the night of the New Hampshire primary.

00:00ABC is expanding its commitment to live programming with two events already slated
00:05for 2020, The Conners and Young Frankenstein.
00:09For The Conners, the network announced that a live episode will be taped on
00:12February 11th, the night of the New Hampshire primary, and will feature a
00:16storyline centered on the election results. In addition, actual ABC News coverage
00:20will be incorporated into the broadcast. The episode is set to center around
00:24Mark watching primary results for a school project with Harris. The cast will
00:28perform live for East Coast and West Coast viewers, with election results
00:31incorporated into the story in real time. In addition to The Conners, ABC also
00:36announced a presentation of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein musical in the fall.
00:40The push for the network's latest live musical event follows the successful airing
00:44of The Little Mermaid Live, which aired back in November. That hybrid presentation
00:48of live performances mixed in with the showing of the 1989 animated movie drew
00:53nine million viewers for its initial airing. The musical is based on the Broadway
00:57version of Young Frankenstein, which in turn was based on Brooks' 1974 film
01:01starring Gene Wilder. ABC also aired its most recent live-in-front-of-a-studio
01:05audience comedy special in December. The restaging of episodes of Norman Lear's
01:09All in the Family and Good Times drew 6.68 million viewers with a week of delayed
