00:00Two years after being put in development, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively reveal
00:04that Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles TV series has found a home.
00:08In a competitive situation with multiple outlets pursuing the drama,
00:11Hulu has landed Vampire Chronicles. The streamer, home to Emmy darling The Handmaid's Tale,
00:16has put the drama in development. Brian Fuller, who boarded the Paramount television
00:20and anonymous content drama as its showrunner in January, exited the project six months ago.
00:26Fuller opted to step back from the project rather than step on the toes of
00:29longtime friends Anne Rice and her son, Christopher Rice, who wrote the original script.
00:34Christopher Rice is a four-time New York Times bestselling author and recipient of the
00:38Lambda Literary Award. Anne and Christopher Rice will executive produce the potential series
00:42alongside anonymous content's David Cantor and Steve Golan.
00:46Paramount Television and anonymous content optioned the rights to 11 books from Rice's
00:51Vampire Chronicles franchise back in April 2017. More than 100 million copies have been sold worldwide.
00:58Rice's interview at the Vampire was first published in 1976 and served as the basis for the
01:031994 feature film of the same name, starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst and Antonio Banderas.
