Riz Ahmed's Left Handed Films has signed a first-look TV production deal with Amazon Studios.

00:00Riz Ahmed has inked a first-look deal with Amazon Studios.
00:04The news comes as Ahmed received grave reviews for his starring role in Amazon's Sound of Metal.
00:09Joining Ahmed and his left-handed films is AMC veteran Ali Moore,
00:13who's joining a senior VP head of television to oversee the company's production and development alongside Ahmed.
00:19Left-Handed has several projects on the horizon, including Mogul Mowgli,
00:22a film co-written, starring and produced by Ahmed that premiered at the Berlin Film Festival
00:27and is currently nominated for six BIFA awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Music,
00:33Best Debut Screenwriter, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound.
00:37Strand will release the drama in the U.S. this year.
00:40Another project lined up is Exit West, the bestseller by Mohsen Hamid for Netflix
00:44in partnership with the Obama's Higher Ground Productions and Joe and Anthony Rousseau's AGBO,
00:49as well as a modern take on Shakespeare's Hamlet, in which Ahmed will star.
00:53Ahmed spoke out about the news, saying,
00:54the Sound of Metal campaign has been a brilliant first experience of working with Amazon Studios.

01:03their global reach, and their desire to nurture underserved audiences
01:06makes it the perfect home for Left-Handed, whose mission is to stretch culture.
01:10Amazon's deal with Ahmed is the latest in a string of high-profile packs for the tech giant.
01:15The company also has deals with Nicole Kidman, Lizzo, Jordan Peele,
01:19Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino,
01:23Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, among others.
01:28Ahmed, who won a Best Actor Emmy for HBO's The Night Of,
01:31most recently won a Gotham Award for lead actor in Sound of Metal.
01:35He recently wrapped production opposite Octavia Spencer on the Amazon sci-fi film Invasion.
