00:00Hala wreath desserts
00:02Can you pull off three of them?
00:04Ashley finally brought the Naughty team a main heat win
00:07This is magnificent
00:08It's a total wow
00:10Thank you
00:11Ashley congrats
00:13Violet, your frosting is a little too sweet
00:16And the Naughty team lost their first baker, Violet
00:19Naughty team star Charles stumbled
00:22That cat is Naughty
00:24But not your best work chef
00:27Ooh girl
00:28Ve o da Jace, de nice team.
00:30I'm a little surprised at what you're delivering today.
00:34I feel like I got taken down.
00:42Oh, hey bakers.
00:44Welcome back, naughty team.
00:45Welcome back to the Holiday Village.
00:47Wonderful seeing you too, nice team.
00:49Good to see you too.
00:50Here's the thing.
00:51We're at the mid-season mark,
00:52and the judges really want to see what you can do.
00:55So, for this challenge,
00:58you're going to be making holiday pies.
01:00Yay, all right.
01:02And you can make any kind of pie you want.
01:07Oh, yeah.
01:08Okay.
01:09I think this challenge can divide
01:11who is a really good baker and who is not.
01:15You have to have a perfect flaky crust.
01:19Your feeling cannot be runny,
01:21so it is a really tough challenge.
01:25And while you're at it,
01:27each of you needs to make
01:28two identical pies for serving,
01:31and we'll tell you why later.
01:33Okay.
01:33All right?
01:33Okay.
01:34There's been so many twists and turns
01:36and shenanigans this season,
01:37and now we have to make two pies.
01:40Who knows what surprise Jesse has for us.
01:44Now, this is your only bake.
01:45Oh, again?
01:47Okay.
01:48Why?
01:48So, after this challenge,
01:50somebody's going home from the losing team.
01:52Oh, my God.
01:53Okay.
01:53So, there are no limits,
01:55and there are no advantages.
01:57Just go out there and make the best pie you can
02:00to win immunity for your team.
02:02All right.
02:03The stakes are so high.
02:05Do it.
02:05I'm just hoping that we can solidify another win.
02:07I feel like Team Naughty had a taste of victory,
02:10and I don't want them to keep that taste in their mouth.
02:13No presh.
02:14All right, bakers,
02:15two and a half hours on the clock,
02:17and your baking time starts.
02:21Now.
02:22Okay.
02:23Okay.
02:24Pies, pies, pies.
02:25I'm going to do lemon meringue.
02:28I know they already like my meringue,
02:30so I feel confident in that.
02:31Yeah.
02:32I would really love to do a sweet potato pie.
02:35I'm down either to do, like, a cream pie
02:36or a blueberry pie.
02:37What if you blend the two
02:38and do, like, a blueberry cream pie?
02:40That's such a good idea.
02:42I think the Naughty team
02:42is really, really starting to find their footing.
02:45We're collaborating a lot more.
02:47I think winning that last main heat
02:49really gave us a lot of, like, positive motivation.
02:52I was going to say,
02:53just remember, let your pie crust chill.
02:55Pies are really demanding.
02:57Technical bakes,
02:58and I think that the pressure is a lot.
03:00Team Naughty, go.
03:04Let's go get pants, pants, pants, pants.
03:05Get pumpkin.
03:07Where are the baking pans at?
03:09Nico, don't take all the pecans, my friend.
03:12Can't pistachio.
03:13No, it's apple.
03:14The holiday village is stressed, girl.
03:17But I'm feeling confident in our team
03:20because we have Pie Bay, a.k.a. Chase.
03:25A lot of pressure on Chase for a pie challenge.
03:28Makes an amazing pie,
03:30has to make another amazing pie.
03:31Ain't that right, Alex?
03:32Yes, sir.
03:33I won the first challenge
03:35with a bomb chest pie.
03:37That chest pie was ridiculous.
03:40That filling was absolutely delicious.
03:43I make a stellar pie,
03:44so we're going to kick Team Naughty's butt today.
03:48I'm going to make a chocolate pecan bourbon pie,
03:50and we're adding tons of bourbon, obviously.
03:54For this challenge,
03:55I'm feeling inspired by Thanksgivings
03:58at my grandma's house as a kid.
04:00We would often build leaf piles in the yard,
04:03so I'm going to decorate with leaf piles
04:05made out of pie dough
04:06because what's nicer than, like,
04:09a bunch of children playing in leaves?
04:11Making an all-butter crust.
04:13I learned a long time ago
04:14that you don't want to leave your butter too big.
04:16The more you can work it into the dough,
04:18the more tender it's going to be.
04:20And I'm baking a metal tin
04:21because it conducts heat faster than glass or ceramic.
04:24It helps you to more quickly evaporate the water in your butter
04:26to create the separation of layers in your dough
04:29so that you don't have soggy bottom,
04:30that you have a good crust.
04:32And then for my filling,
04:33I pre-toasted my pecans
04:35just to express the oils, get them aromatic.
04:39The judges told me last time
04:40that my flavors weren't balanced,
04:41and I really want to make sure that I do that today.
04:43I tasted elimination last time,
04:45and I don't ever want to taste it again.
04:47I came here to win.
04:48I feel like it would validate a part of myself
04:51that's always wondered,
04:53like, should you have gone to culinary school
04:55or should you have done something different?
04:57I'm going to fight with everything I got.
04:58Anybody need some pie weights?
05:01Me, please.
05:02You know, it's been such a wild ride.
05:05Coming into this competition in the beginning,
05:07I don't know that I did believe in myself enough,
05:09but today, I'm a top contender.
05:12Ashley, how does it feel?
05:13You could win this whole thing.
05:14You could take home $25,000.
05:16I could.
05:16And part of the dream of doing that
05:19is being able to take my dad on a trip to Scotland.
05:22He had a liver transplant about nine years ago,
05:25so it hasn't been able to travel as much,
05:27and then this would be a dream for us.
05:29I love that.
05:30So what kind of pie are you making?
05:31So I am making a pumpkin black pepper.
05:34Whoa.
05:35So that's kind of the secret ingredient.
05:37The black pepper really adds a little zing to it,
05:39and then I'm going to top it with a maple whipped cream
05:41as well as stained glass confetti sugar cookies
05:44to represent Christmas ornaments.
05:46The reason I'm making it today actually
05:48is because of my dad, because he hates pumpkin pie,
05:51like absolutely despises it.
05:53It became my favorite pie as an adult,
05:54and now out of spite, I bring it to Thanksgiving.
05:57So we're going a little bit naughty
05:59on the sense that my dad hates pumpkin pie.
06:01It's so ironic you're making something your dad hates,
06:03hopefully to send him to Scotland.
06:04Hopefully to send him to Scotland, so.
06:06The irony.
06:07I hope that that makes him proud.
06:10I hope this pie is good enough to win immunity.
06:12Pie is something that I feel pretty confident about.
06:15So today, I'm making a lemon meringue pie.
06:17On the top will be a toasted Swiss meringue
06:20with some silver bells out of chocolate,
06:23candied lemon, and holly leaves,
06:25and I think it just really reads nice Christmas.
06:29Oh, hi.
06:30Oh, hey.
06:31How are you?
06:31You know, just checking out on someone
06:33who's been dominating in this competition.
06:35No pressure, right?
06:37Yeah, but Ashley, like you, she's bringing it every week.
06:39She dominated, but I know my way around pie dough.
06:42I use shortening.
06:43Shortening kind of gives you a little bit of that structure,
06:45gives you some flakiness.
06:47And then I did add some lemon zest and some thyme
06:50to the crust just to give it a little bit
06:51of an herbaceous pop.
06:53So Team Nice is going to continue to keep rocking it.
06:55We can whittle the Naughty team down a little bit.
06:58You ain't seen Naughty yet, though, Alex.
07:00Ooh.
07:01Ooh.
07:01Ooh.
07:02I feel like I'm on the field pregame here.
07:04This is unbelievable.
07:05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:06Football game.
07:07Yeah.
07:07Keep doing what you're doing, Alex.
07:08Keep doing what I'm doing.
07:10See you in a bit.
07:11Charg, let me pick your brain for a minute.
07:16What's up?
07:16Who have you got your eye on on the Nice team?
07:19The biggest competition is Chase.
07:20What he knows how to do, he's very good at doing.
07:23He knows how to make a mean pie.
07:24But, I mean, if you had to guess,
07:26who's the next baker to go home on that side?
07:28I would say either Aaron or Kamri,
07:32just because I think the other three
07:33have been really consistent.
07:35Yeah.
07:35But, you know, who am I to talk, right?
07:38Overall, my bakes have been average at best,
07:42and I feel like I'm kind of the weakest link on my team,
07:46which is why this week I want to make something mind-blowing,
07:49something that's not only going to taste great,
07:51but something that's just going to be memorable.
07:54And so I'm making a blueberry cream pie.
07:57To add a little bit of, like, a deeper flavor
07:59to my blueberry filling,
08:00I want to play into the warm spices,
08:02like cinnamon and ginger and stuff
08:04that you would traditionally see around the holidays.
08:06And then also, I'm adding bourbon.
08:08I feel like the flavor of the alcohol
08:09plays well with fruit,
08:11and it's going to taste bomb.
08:13And then I'm going to decorate it
08:14inspired by one of my old family traditions,
08:17which was where my siblings and I
08:19would not only leave milk and cookies,
08:20but we would leave shots
08:22and a pack of cigarettes for Santa.
08:24It was definitely naughty, I'll say that.
08:28So my pie is going to have a cream filling,
08:31there's going to be a spiced blueberry filling,
08:33and then I'm going to top it with pretzel cigarettes
08:35because I really want my pie to look like an ashtray.
08:39It's definitely a risk.
08:41You know, I can't help but to be, like, really nervous.
08:43But, yeah, I think if this one can come out
08:45the way I want it to, it'd be a winner.
08:4790 minutes, bakers.
08:48We are talking holiday pies
08:50to keep your team intact.
08:52Oh, and remember, you always got Jingle Jabba
08:54over here in case you need a pick-me-up.
08:56Hey, naughty team, how are we feeling about coffee?
08:59Um, I'll take an iced one.
09:00I'll take one.
09:01Ice too.
09:02Ice.
09:02Hello, can I get full iced coffees for the naughty team?
09:05Coming right on up.
09:06I'll take an Americano, naughty.
09:08I know you will.
09:10Sorry, sorry, Mom.
09:13Even though we're on separate teams,
09:15I have built a special bond with Erin.
09:17I did a snowman.
09:18Tiny little thing in the middle.
09:20Yeah, that's cute.
09:21That's a cute one.
09:21Yeah, good.
09:22Thank you.
09:23Oh, sure, anytime, anytime.
09:25Love you.
09:25What did I come in here for?
09:27She's so quirky and funny
09:29and, you know, that selfless mother figure.
09:32So I wish that Erin was kind of on our team.
09:34I just love her to bits.
09:36I'm feeling very nostalgic today.
09:38I'm feeling inspired by my Grandma Maxine
09:42and her love of Elvis Presley.
09:44and every year we would sit in her living room
09:47while she played his records.
09:50And this year I'm feeling a little blue Christmas.
09:53So I'm making a blueberry ganache pie.
09:56There we go.
09:57I'm getting teary-eyed thinking about my pie.
10:01Coincidentally, I woke up this morning
10:03and I was really, really missing my Grandma.
10:06That's when I started to cry.
10:07I started thinking about all of the things
10:10that made me feel close to Christmas and close to her.
10:13And I think, how do I turn that into a pie?
10:16So it will be a blueberry pie filling,
10:20a blueberry white chocolate ganache top,
10:22and decorated with a goat cheese whipped cream Christmas tree
10:26and pie crust snowflakes and stars.
10:29I spent most of my childhood
10:31sitting on my grandmother's lap
10:33in the Lake of the Ozarks,
10:34staring up into constellations.
10:37I learned constellations from her.
10:39So I'm really excited to make this in her memory.
10:44Oh.
10:47Wow, well, this hasn't been shut the whole time,
10:50so that's great.
10:50Oh.
10:51Was somebody in there?
10:53My pot.
10:54I'm feeling nervous.
10:56My bottom oven just was left open,
10:58so oven temp dropped to 250.
11:01I'm not going to blame anybody else,
11:02but I don't have time.
11:04Kicking up the fan?
11:05Yeah, I need to get this temperature back up.
11:07Yeah.
11:08I need 350 really bad.
11:10I'm scared because it takes a while
11:11to bake such a thick pie
11:12to make sure it's baked in the center,
11:14and I have to make sure that it cools in time
11:16to put on my decor.
11:18I just don't know how I'm going to get everything done on time.
11:26We got one hour left now, guys.
11:29You have to make two pies.
11:30We've got a surprise for you later.
11:33Oh, no.
11:34Remember, you are baking
11:35to not lose another baker from your team.
11:38I'm pushing time on my pies.
11:40If I can use the blast when my pies come out,
11:43I would greatly appreciate it.
11:44Otherwise, I might not make it to my plate.
11:45Uh-oh.
11:47Because my door was left wide open.
11:49Oh, God.
11:50I feel so much pressure at the end of this bag
11:52because someone is going home from the losing team,
11:55and I'm just really hoping
11:56that I can pull out the immunity
11:57because, ultimately,
11:58I want to stay in this competition so bad.
12:00I want to make it to the end.
12:02Hopefully, I'll be fine,
12:03but I'll be running up to time.
12:06Let's go, T-Nice.
12:08Let's go.
12:09The inspiration for this dessert today
12:11is a combination of one of my favorite pie flavors.
12:14I'm making a pumpkin and cherry pie.
12:17Pumpkin pie was the first pie
12:18I was excited to eat
12:20when I got here in America.
12:22and I love cherries.
12:24So I'm going to bake my pumpkin filling,
12:27and later, I will add my top for the cherries.
12:30And I will cover the pie with puff pastry lettuce,
12:34and I will decorate with cinnamon buttercream,
12:37cherries, candy cans, and hollies.
12:39For my cherry compote,
12:41I'm adding orange juice
12:43to make my cherry really pop.
12:45I will take Team Naughty down by the flavors.
12:49He's talking smack over there.
12:50Yes.
12:51Be ready.
12:52I'm coming for you.
12:54Oh, my God.
12:55So I get my pies out of the oven
12:57with a pistachio frangipane baked on the inside.
13:01I'm feeling good.
13:02So today, we have to make two identical pies.
13:05So my inspiration is, honestly,
13:06just like my love for the flavors.
13:08Apple pie is, like, classic,
13:10but I want to do, like, a little twist on it.
13:12So I'm making a bourbon ginger miso apple pie,
13:17and I'm going to build each of the layers.
13:18So I want a little layer of frangipane,
13:21and a little layer of miso caramel,
13:23a layer of cooked apples.
13:25And then to decorate, I want to do a cute beanie-inspired hat.
13:30It's going to stay nice because it's going to be the cutest little hat you ever did see.
13:35Fit for the holidays.
13:37So the main thing with this challenge, I feel like there's something coming.
13:41Because, like, having to make two pies, why?
13:45I don't know, so we just got to wait and see.
13:47I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
13:49Definitely interesting.
13:51I'm excited.
13:52Bakers, we've got 30 minutes.
13:54Woo!
13:55We're done.
13:57Thank goodness.
13:59My pie is out of the oven.
14:00It looks great.
14:02I'm going to get it into the blast chiller
14:03so that I can hopefully get the whipped cream on top
14:05at a cool temperature so that it doesn't melt away.
14:08Because this could be a winning pie, you know?
14:10I think it could.
14:11Charles, good to see you.
14:12You're such an amazing pastry chef.
14:13The thing is, even though you haven't won a challenge technically yet...
14:16Yes.
14:17This close.
14:18I know.
14:18You're going to stop being the bridesmaid soon.
14:20I hope.
14:21But I'm happy Ashley pulled through for us.
14:24I feel like she's kind of carrying Team Naughty a little bit.
14:27That's fine.
14:28Wear her out before the finale.
14:29Dude, unbelievable.
14:31I feel like when you say that, you should, like, do the...
14:35And then just wait till the final day.
14:37Exactly.
14:39Well, I've got to keep cutting.
14:40Yeah, go ahead.
14:41Back to the shot.
14:41I have decided on an apple pie because it's kind of an American classic.
14:46It's a risk to go simple.
14:48But I'm going to make it stand out by I shred apple and dice it.
14:53I cook down the shredded apple so it really concentrates that flavor.
14:56So there's no mistaking it's an apple pie.
14:58And I try not to use too many spices because otherwise it just covers up all the natural kind of brightness that apples have.
15:03And then I am decorating it with braided pie crust and a little whipped creme fraiche.
15:09And I'm also going to make a little semi-rotten apple in the center with a little Christmas worm.
15:14And just to really tie in the Naughty theme.
15:16It's a lot to make the filling and break down all these apples.
15:19But I think it can be very delicious and impress the judges.
15:22Oh, my God.
15:23Oh, this looks so dark.
15:25I'm freaking out a little bit because my pies are looking just a little on the scorched side.
15:30I'm worried about what the judges are going to think about this.
15:33But it's too late for me to really do anything about that now.
15:36So I'm just going to keep moving forward with my plan and hope for the best.
15:40Nico, are you writing up a hit list?
15:42What is this over here?
15:44No, so this is Santa's real naughty list.
15:46The only thing naughtier than being naughty is being naughty and pretending to be nice.
15:50All right.
15:51Well, tell me about your pie, holiday pie.
15:52So a sweet potato and pecan pie sitting on a pretzel and ginger snap crust with a toasted brown sugar meringue.
15:59And I'm going to have the nice team made out of shortbread cookies setting aflame a marzipan Santa's real naughty list.
16:07Trying to destroy the evidence of the naughtiness.
16:10I've sort of made a name for myself as being the one to kind of go a little past the line on the naughty side.
16:15And I want to just keep that up.
16:16You have?
16:16Okay.
16:17Well, at least if anything, you're consistent.
16:18You have such an incredible energy and passion for this, I can tell.
16:21How did you find baking?
16:22Like a lot of kids is kind of doing it for fun at home.
16:25And then as time went on, I started to continue to find my love and my passion for it.
16:30But it like, I had a while where I wasn't sure if it was going to be something that lasted.
16:35Okay.
16:36Because I just had a lot of struggles with like food and eating.
16:39I'm diagnosed with anorexia.
16:41Okay.
16:41So I actually had to drop out of culinary school.
16:43Oh, man.
16:44Yeah, to go to recovery.
16:46But since then, I've gone through treatment.
16:48I'm in the greatest place I've ever been in my life right now.
16:51And the last four months, I've gained about 50 pounds.
16:54And a big motivator in doing that was being able to come out here and live out a dream
16:58of being here.
16:59And it's like, even like, if I'm not successful in every bank, just being physically healthy
17:03enough to be here is like a win in and of itself.
17:06Yeah.
17:06I'm so happy you're doing so great.
17:07Thank you.
17:08I appreciate it, man.
17:08Keep it up, man.
17:09We'll see you in the middle.
17:10There's such a stigma around this disorder and especially being male.
17:14And I think if I'm able to be that person to talk about it and to show that there is
17:22a way out, that would just mean the world to me.
17:25That's a beautiful meringue.
17:30Come on, man.
17:32I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting my chocolate out.
17:35It just doesn't seem to want to come out of these molds.
17:37If I don't get these out, I'm not going to have these silver belts that my whole thing
17:40is based off of.
17:41Well, that was kind of the main component of my decoration, so this is incredibly frustrating.
17:46Okay.
17:47I'm just not doing that today.
17:49So I'm, like, rushing to do a backup plan right now instead of silver bells.
17:53I'm going to try to do some white chocolate snowflakes and hopefully it doesn't get lost
17:57in translation.
17:59Hey, bakers.
18:00Ten minutes.
18:01Fuego.
18:02Bakers, remember, you have to make two identical pies.
18:07Just wait until they find out what's going to happen next.
18:09Right now I'm making the ornament cookies.
18:12I'm going to use isomalt in the middle of them to kind of give them, like, a 3D look.
18:17The reason I chose this decoration for today is because my niece makes me stained glass ornaments
18:24every single year for Christmas, and it's one of my favorite things to receive from her,
18:29and she's eight.
18:29Shout out to Clara.
18:30So I'm going to take a little spin on those ornaments and stack the cookies with a little
18:35bit of royal icing to glue them together with some sprinkles in the center to make
18:38them look like a little bit of a snow globe with sprinkles inside.
18:42I just want a little bit more sprinkles.
18:44Now I'm carving my cherries and dipping in red chocolate because I want this to be my
18:55decoration on top of my pie.
18:57Oh, I need you to sit, please.
19:00I realize that my blueberry ganache, this is looser, this needs to be frozen, which I
19:06know, but I am running out of time right now.
19:09Five minutes left.
19:11All right, all right, let's go.
19:13That's a nice tim.
19:16That's so funny.
19:17Hallelujah.
19:18They're beautiful.
19:19Look at that crust.
19:20Now I have all the components.
19:21My pie is cool, and I have just a few minutes to decorate.
19:25I'm making my cigarettes, and then I'm going to dip the tips into sanding sugar.
19:31I want to hear, this is definitely naughty.
19:34One minute left.
19:35Final details.
19:37More important than ever.
19:39It all counts.
19:40No pressure.
19:41I start adding my snowflakes on.
19:43I'm not thrilled about this.
19:4520 seconds left.
19:46I'm going to have to hurry.
19:47Oh.
19:48Ay, ay, ay.
19:50Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho.
19:52Something big is about to happen.
19:55Oh, my gosh.
19:56All right.
19:57That's it.
19:58Time's up.
20:00Everything is riding on these pies.
20:06Hey, bakers, can I get everybody's attention, please?
20:09I need all eyes up here because we've never done this before.
20:13Oh, my God.
20:14In Holiday Baking Championship.
20:15It's a massive twist.
20:19There's no more time for twists.
20:20You're late to the game, buddy.
20:22What do you mean?
20:23Guys, this is going to be groundbreaking.
20:26Oh, my God.
20:27We just finished.
20:28What could it be?
20:28I'm going to throw up.
20:29What is happening?
20:35All right, bakers.
20:38I bet you're wondering what's up.
20:40Yeah.
20:41Yeah.
20:42In a test of team dynamics and a test of your palates, we want to see if you can make good decisions as a team.
20:48So the judges want you to choose only the top two pies from your team to put in front of them.
20:55Oh, my God.
20:57You're going to be tasting each other's pies to decide.
21:01And that's why we made two pies.
21:03Okay.
21:04That's right.
21:04Wow.
21:05Your entire team's fate rests in the hands of the two pies.
21:08Are you kidding?
21:09You select to represent you.
21:12All right, let's get to tasting.
21:13Team Naughty, you're up first.
21:14I'm a little stunned.
21:17It is a bit shocking to then have to now judge your own teammates, especially because we all are competitive and we all want to win.
21:25Yeah, we'll see how this turns out.
21:27All right, Team Naughty.
21:29You're already down two bakers.
21:30You don't want to be down a third.
21:32So it's very important you guys are honest with one another in terms of whose two pies are the best.
21:38Okay, so Charles, tell us what you made.
21:40So I just made a classic apple pie and then on the top, it's a little Christmas worm coming out of a rotten apple.
21:47I think that blade is a really, really strong technical scale.
21:50The crust is so beautiful.
21:51Yeah, I think this is a phenomenal apple pie.
21:54The textures are insane.
21:55The cream is really good.
21:56Honestly, I can't find a single negative.
21:59Well, that's only one dessert.
22:00Yeah, so true.
22:01Sounds like you guys are off to a good start.
22:03I really want to beat out Ashley at some point, so I'm feeling optimistic.
22:07I want to go next.
22:08I did a sweet potato custard, pecans on top, and then obviously the real naughty list.
22:14Did you also make caricatures of the other bakers on Team Naughty?
22:17I have Alex, their MVP at the moment.
22:19She's the one really getting rid of the evidence.
22:22And we have Violet over here, rest in peace.
22:24It's so funny.
22:25They would absolutely eat this up for naughty theme.
22:28I agree.
22:29It's like Team Naughty all the way.
22:31I think it tastes good, but the top part of your crust, it's like burned.
22:34So I'm worried they're going to harp on you over that.
22:36I agree.
22:36A little scorched, yeah.
22:38We'll see how the other two are, but I think I'm on the fence on this one.
22:42On the fence on this one?
22:43Yeah.
22:43Okay.
22:44All right, Tarek, you're up, man.
22:45So it's supposed to be like an ashtray for Santa.
22:47So this is a blueberry cream pie.
22:51Nico, I feel like this theme is right down your alley.
22:54It really is.
22:54I think it's really, really funny.
22:56I think it's so silly.
22:57Tarek, that's really good.
23:00And that blueberry compote is great.
23:02Yeah, your custard is super smooth, and it's a good balance of sweetness and acidity without
23:06being overpowering.
23:07So best ashtray I've ever eaten.
23:09Thank you.
23:10This is good.
23:11Like, I feel good about this.
23:12I think my pie could make it into the top two.
23:14All right, Ashley, what did you make?
23:17So I made a black pepper pumpkin pie, and I did the pumpkin pie because my dad hates pumpkin
23:22pie.
23:23It's beautiful.
23:24I love the cookie.
23:25My one potential iffy thing is it doesn't immediately scream naughty like the rest of them
23:29maybe do.
23:30And the...
23:31Okay.
23:32It's a little underbaked, yeah.
23:34Yeah, my crust is raw.
23:35It's a little raw in the middle.
23:36A little raw in the base, yeah.
23:38I'm seeing it now.
23:39All right.
23:40I don't need to taste any more of mine.
23:42Um, we can't serve that.
23:44Yeah.
23:45If your pie isn't chosen, you could be facing elimination if your team loses.
23:50All right.
23:51We can't serve what looks like a raw pie to the judges, and I'm just heartbroken.
23:55I think it's pretty unanimous at this point.
23:57Yeah.
23:57Tarek and, uh, Charles.
23:59This is a big challenge to keep Team Naughty all intact, and ultimately, Tarek, Charles,
24:04it's gonna come down to you and your pies.
24:06All right.
24:06Oh, my gosh.
24:07I feel like I'm gonna vomit.
24:09If Tarek or Charles' pie doesn't win the immunity for us, I'm actually on the chopping block
24:14for the first time, and it feels a little bit like a fall from grace to potentially go
24:19home because of a pie.
24:21I am sick thinking about it.
24:25Yeah.
24:27So, we'll see.
24:29Yeah.
24:29No pressure.
24:31Okay.
24:32It seemed nice.
24:33All right.
24:33So, Kamri, go ahead and introduce your pie for everybody.
24:35What did you make?
24:36So, my little Christmas hat pie is a bourbon apple ginger miso pie with a pistachio french
24:44pan.
24:45It is adorable.
24:46Oh, so cute.
24:48I'm confident that we can all deliver on constructive criticism, but I think stepping into this moment
24:54as the pie guy, I feel like I could have the tendency to be a little overcritical.
25:00I think it's pretty sweet.
25:02Sweet?
25:02Okay.
25:02Overall, I'm just worried about it hitting the judge's palate.
25:05Like, the saltiness is there, but there's a lot of sweet.
25:09Yeah, I agree with you.
25:10All right.
25:10Next up, we have Erin.
25:11My pie is a blueberry ganache pie.
25:15It's reading nice.
25:16I've never really seen that color blue.
25:18I like the texture on the crust.
25:20It's, like, nice and flaky.
25:21I think the ganache up top is just a touch broken.
25:24I don't like the consistency of my pie, but it needs to be a more solid pie.
25:29Yeah.
25:29Okay, we're gonna go Giancarlo's next.
25:31So, my pie is a pumpkin and cherry, and on the top, cinnamon buttercream.
25:39I love it.
25:40I would see this in a storybook.
25:42I like the flavors going on.
25:44I really like the tartness in contrast to the spice of the filling.
25:47Yeah.
25:48It's a fun choice.
25:49It's not one that I think I've seen.
25:51I agree.
25:52Not just because I made, but I think tea's great.
25:55I'm happy.
25:56All right, pie guy, you're up.
25:57Chase.
25:58I made a bourbon pecan chocolate pie, a mascarpone whip.
26:02I made toffee, candy nuts, and a chocolate crumble on top.
26:06This is so good.
26:07The pie is nice and flaky.
26:08I love the creaminess of the filling.
26:11I love that I can get the bourbon.
26:12It's not too much?
26:13No.
26:14I could eat that all night.
26:14All right.
26:15Good stuff.
26:16Chase, way to go.
26:17Good job, babe.
26:18All right.
26:19I guess that leaves Alex.
26:20So what do we got?
26:22So we have a lemon meringue pie.
26:24It also has a lemon thyme pie dough.
26:27The crust for this one, unfortunately, looks like a little undercooked.
26:32And I'm not sure about the meringue.
26:34It seemed like a little bit loose.
26:36And the citrus flavor is very strong.
26:39Yeah.
26:40I definitely agree.
26:41Everything about the pie was not what I wanted.
26:43And I would be incredibly embarrassed to present it to the judges.
26:47So I think the consistency of Chase's pie was so good.
26:51The flavors were so unexpected.
26:53And Giancarlo's, Chase and Giancarlo's, that's my vote.
26:56I would agree.
26:56Your two best pies in this challenge belong to Chase and Giancarlo's.
27:00Without a question.
27:01I hope you made the right decisions.
27:03Let's bring in the judges.
27:05Okay.
27:06Judges.
27:07We've never done this before.
27:08We've asked each team to present to you their two best holiday pies that they're hoping
27:14are going to win their team immunity.
27:16Okay.
27:16Up first, Chase from the Nice team.
27:19Chase, come on up.
27:22So this is our first time getting to see Team Nice being judged in front of us.
27:27And I am so nervous because we're going up against the pie king himself, Chase.
27:32Great to see you again.
27:33Okay.
27:34Why don't you tell our judges what you made?
27:35So it is a bourbon pecan chocolate pie.
27:38Oh my God, that crust.
27:40That's gorgeous.
27:41Yeah.
27:41This is the whole Thanksgiving experience at my grandma Mary's.
27:47The pecan pie is not only the one that's always fought over, but while we were kids, I think
27:53to distract us and keep us out of the kitchen, it was like, go collect sticks, go make leaf
27:59piles in the yard.
28:00So I wanted to replicate the leaf piles.
28:03It looks delicious.
28:05Like if I would see that in a bakery case, I would say, give me three of those.
28:09So I love what you've done here.
28:12Now, I do think it's nice looking, but does it really show the nice theme?
28:17I don't know.
28:19Oh, oh my God.
28:20I feel so weird to be in here and watch this out of mood for bad comments.
28:23It's like a little too even, a little too symmetric to give me something as organic as
28:28a leaf pile.
28:29Okay.
28:30Maybe you'll get that nice theme and the flavor.
28:32Sure will.
28:33Just wait.
28:35I feel really uncertain.
28:37And I'm feeling nervous for my team because it just felt like a little bit of mixed reviews
28:43in terms of decor.
28:44So I'm just hoping that it's going to really hit with the flavors.
28:48Are they being poker-faced on purpose?
29:03God, I don't know.
29:04Hopefully, no.
29:09Okay.
29:09It's not your typical pecan pie.
29:11Mm-hmm.
29:11It is well-baked.
29:14I'm loving all of those toasted flavors you get from the pecan, but the bourbon kind
29:18of overtakes a lot of it for me.
29:20Yeah.
29:20Nance, how about you?
29:22Well.
29:23More bourbon.
29:25Maybe just a scotch too much bourbon.
29:29Wow.
29:30Oh.
29:30Oh.
29:32Oh.
29:32You think so?
29:35What?
29:36Yeah.
29:38I'm so shook that I out-bourboned Nancy.
29:41I mean, we all know she has a stronger palate for alcohol, so.
29:45It's delicious.
29:46Yes.
29:47But the bourbon is forward.
29:48It is forward.
29:49Yes.
29:50Yeah.
29:50Oh, my God.
29:51I loved the bourbon in it.
29:53I did, too.
29:53I don't, I mean, I don't even drink.
29:55I think the bourbon in here is fantastic.
29:57Yeah.
29:58I really like it, and your crust is really some of the best we've had on the show.
30:03Really incredible, man.
30:04This crust is amazing.
30:05Just A+.
30:07Oh, you feel very nice.
30:08Nice job.
30:09Chase's pie wasn't perfect, though.
30:10It was not perfect.
30:11It was great.
30:12You did such a good job.
30:13You did such a good job.
30:14Thank you all.
30:17All right, judges from the nice team, Giancarlos.
30:20Oh, here we go.
30:21Let's hope it falls apart.
30:22I made for you pumpkin and cherry pie.
30:27Ooh.
30:28Pumpkin and cherry?
30:29Pumpkin and cherry.
30:30Pumpkin and cherry.
30:31On my decoration, I decide to go for a cartoonish.
30:35We have cherries on top.
30:37We have the Christmas decoration, and the piping is a cinnamon buttercream.
30:44Wait, what?
30:44Buttercream?
30:45Buttercream?
30:46Cardi, are you seeing the nice here?
30:48I see the nice.
30:49Those are some really big cherries.
30:51And like you said, it's like the cartoonish side of it, and I really like that.
30:54Yeah.
30:55And cherries and pumpkin.
30:57We'll see, man.
30:58I'm confident this pie can be a winner because I take so many risks, especially with the flavors.
31:06And I hope the judges understand that.
31:09Well, I am tasting a lot of pumpkin, and I like it a lot.
31:15Ooh.
31:16Good.
31:16The cherry is underwhelming because the pumpkin is overwhelming.
31:22And I think it's not balanced.
31:25Yeah.
31:25Everything is just a little bit off.
31:27First of all, buttercream on a pie I think is pretty weird.
31:31That is weird.
31:32I'd like that you kind of pushed the envelope with making pumpkin pie with cherry.
31:37And your crust is incredible.
31:38It's flaky.
31:39It's buttery.
31:40Between you and Chase, I don't know who makes a better crust.
31:43You guys make awesome crust.
31:45All right, Giancarlos, thank you so much.
31:47Thank you, Giancarlos.
31:49God.
31:49I'm feeling more confident because I thought they were going to get rave reviews, but at
31:54the same time, that means they're going to be as critical with ours, if not more, so.
31:58Don't forget to tell us.
31:59It's a little of both, yeah.
32:01Up next, the Naughty Team.
32:03Can they beat the Nice Team and win Immunity?
32:05Okay, let's see, guys.
32:06Love, Nico.
32:07Smoking's naughty.
32:08That's funny.
32:10We've got a smoker.
32:14Tark.
32:15Come on up.
32:15Our little teenager.
32:16Our little.
32:17Let's go.
32:17Tark!
32:19This is not the little kid you knew from Kids Baking.
32:21I knew this guy.
32:22He was just little kid.
32:23What?
32:24He's smoking cigarettes and drinking now.
32:26You are bad.
32:28He's in a red ape for a reason.
32:29Wait, there's a story for this one.
32:31Okay.
32:31When we were kids, not only would we give Santa milk and cookies, we would give him shots and
32:36a pack of cigarettes.
32:40That was my inspiration for my decoration, and so my design is like trying to be like a
32:45bit of an ashtray.
32:46Wait, wait.
32:47Hold on.
32:47Hold on, Tark.
32:47This is like a real story.
32:48Now, did Dad smoke and drink, too?
32:50Yeah.
32:51My parents like...
32:51That was for Dad.
32:52Oh, of course it was.
32:53That was for your dad.
32:54I know that now.
32:55You know, I got to tell you, Team Naughty, you guys have absolutely committed to the
33:04Naughtiness.
33:05I love it.
33:08Well, tell us what kind of pie you made, Tark.
33:10So, I have a blueberry cream pie, and no one else made a cream pie, so hopefully you guys
33:14really like it.
33:16Okay, let's see.
33:17Crust, bad crust, bad crust, bad crust, bad crust.
33:25Oh.
33:26I just don't want to say this.
33:27You nailed it.
33:30That crust is delicious.
33:32That blueberry cream, well-balanced.
33:35It's very, very good.
33:38Thank you.
33:39Tark, this is delicious.
33:40Creamy, your crust is salty.
33:43It is flaky.
33:44This is a really great pie.
33:46Nice work, man.
33:47Thank you.
33:48Thank you, guys.
33:48Thank you.
33:49Let's go, buddy.
33:50Nice job.
33:51Like, I'm just feeling so pleased with myself, because this is, like, the first bake I've
33:56had in this competition that was received this well.
33:59This makes me really nervous.
34:01Yeah, me too.
34:05Hello, judges.
34:06Hi, Charles.
34:07I made a classic American apple pie, and we would go apple picking as a kid.
34:13But every once in a while, you get a little critter inside that rotten apple.
34:17So I did a little cheeky play on that character.
34:21It's sort of naughty nice.
34:22Like, you could have gave us, like, a really, like, nasty-looking worm.
34:25It's cheeky, but I want to see a little bit more naughty.
34:28Got it.
34:29Naughty?
34:29There's a worm in your pie.
34:31Like, what do you want?
34:32Do you have, like, a switchblade?
34:33Like, what do you do?
34:35I make a pretty good apple pie, so I'm anxious to taste this one.
34:40I'm excited for you to taste it, too.
34:41Let's do it, Charles, whenever you're ready.
34:42Look how thick the bottom is.
34:47Yeah, that bottom crust is super thick.
34:49It's just this crust is all pretty thick.
34:52If you sell an apple pie, let's see.
34:58All right, Cartier.
35:02I don't like it.
35:05Just kidding.
35:05I'm being naughty.
35:06I love it.
35:06And I'm not a big apple pie girl, but I think this would change my mind.
35:13Well, I love your filling.
35:15The apples are cooked perfectly.
35:17I love the cream.
35:18I don't love the bottom.
35:20I just think it's a little bit thick.
35:22Yes.
35:23Yeah, I just need a little more of something, because the underside, it's almost flowery.
35:27Like, you kind of get that sort of flower, that flower flavor.
35:30Oh.
35:31At least mine don't taste flower.
35:34It's true.
35:34But on the whole, this whole thing together is a really, really nice bite of apple pie.
35:40Charles, thank you.
35:44That was pretty good.
35:46All right.
35:47Well, I think we nailed it.
35:49Yeah, in terms of crust.
35:50We have some notes, but he had some notes, so I think it's just tight.
35:54Yeah.
35:54I think it's just tight.
35:58All right, so bakers, we know it wasn't easy picking just two holiday pies from each of
36:02your teams to present to the judges, but the judges have identified the top pie from each
36:07team.
36:08The best pie from the naughty team came from Tarek.
36:15Come on.
36:16Good job, Tarek.
36:17Good job.
36:17And the baker who made our favorite pie on the nice team was Chase.
36:27Hi, babe.
36:28But only one baker left us booing and aahing, and that baker is...
36:35Tarek.
36:36Let's go!
36:38We did it, we did it, we did it, we did it.
36:40Tarek, the crust on your spiced blueberry cream pie was crispy, and the filling was so satisfying
36:46and delicious.
36:46Really great job, Tarek.
36:49Thank you.
36:50Oh my God.
36:53Now that I know that my entire team is safe, and it's because of me, I feel like I really
36:57redeemed myself in so many ways.
37:00Good job, buddy.
37:01It's a bummer that I didn't take the win for my team, but I'm really happy for Tarek.
37:07Okay, so that means, of course, one member from Team Nice is now up for elimination.
37:14But here's the thing.
37:15We don't feel comfortable deciding who's going home, since we didn't taste all of your team's
37:20pods.
37:22We only tasted the top two.
37:23So, you guys are going to have to do it.
37:30Oh my God.
37:32That sucks.
37:34That's brutal.
37:45Gagged.
37:46I am shocked that Team Nice has to eliminate one of their own.
37:50This was not what I was expecting.
37:51I am gooped, gagged, bewildered.
37:54So we have to decide?
37:55We have to decide.
37:56This is a really, really horrific shock.
38:02Now, as you know, Nice team, of course, the top two pie makers from your team are safe.
38:07That's Chase and Giancarlos.
38:09Thank you.
38:10That, of course, leaves Alex, Aaron, and Kamri.
38:13But as a team, you now have a decision to make.
38:16Why don't you all come with me?
38:17I'll listen.
38:18No.
38:19I wouldn't want to be them.
38:21Oh my gosh.
38:22Okay, guys.
38:23Look, I know this is a really emotional moment.
38:27We've obviously never done this before.
38:30You're going to write down on this card the name of the baker that's going to be going home.
38:35I'll be waiting for you here.
38:37Good luck, everyone.
38:38Thank you.
38:43I feel sick to my stomach.
38:45I really, I feel like I'm going to go home.
38:48Okay.
38:49I feel like this bake is poor enough that it wouldn't be unfair.
38:53If they send me home, I would absolutely understand where they were coming from.
38:58Gosh.
39:01What's going through my head is how important it is for each of the other people on my team
39:06to be where they're at.
39:09They want to live to bake another day where I feel like I did this.
39:15So, this is who I decided should be eliminated.
39:22I voted for myself.
39:25Thanks.
39:25To leave.
39:28I don't feel good about this.
39:32Thanks.
39:32This is not easy.
39:37Everyone on Team Nice has so much passion and talent.
39:43But we promised each other to be honest.
39:48Come here.
39:49I'm glad we don't have that pressure.
39:54It's brutal.
39:55But at the end of the day, it still is a competition.
39:58And we will narrow down to only one winner.
40:00So, it's the name of the game.
40:02Thank you, Jean-Carlson.
40:02Okay.
40:08Nice team.
40:09We have a verdict.
40:10Why don't you follow me and we'll let everybody know.
40:12Yeah.
40:14This is unprecedented.
40:17Nice bakers, I know this was not an easy decision for you.
40:21Sadly, now we have to say goodbye to one of you.
40:24Unfortunately, the baker leaving us from the nice team is...
40:27Erin.
40:35Erin, I am so, so sorry.
40:38You have been such a joy here in the kitchen.
40:42We are all going to miss you.
40:43I don't know what the nice team is going to do without their alpha mom.
40:46They're going to get naughty.
40:50Well, you can take a moment.
40:52You can say goodbye to your fellow bakers.
40:53I love you so much.
40:55I came here to holiday baking.
40:57For me, stepping outside of my comfort zone to do something solo.
41:04And I feel like this is the one time in my life I'm really, really happy and proud that I said yes.
41:11And I took a chance on myself.
41:13So, yeah, I would do it all again.
41:15We love you so much.
41:17Bye, baby girl.
41:18Okay.
41:19Tough day in the holiday village.
41:21That was an emotional one.
41:23But let this be a reminder to everybody.
41:25You never know what's coming next.
41:28So you always have to be ready.
41:30Okay.
41:31You can exit the kitchen.
41:32Good job, everybody.
41:33It sucks.
41:34It's amazing how they wrote it.
41:35Well, that's sweet.
41:41This one, right?
41:42Aw.
41:45Next time, the bakers slay with snow day desserts.
41:49That's magical.
41:51It brings tears to my eyes.
41:53It's really good.
41:54And there's a jaw-dropping twist no one sees coming.
41:59Are you serious?
