00:05in the public eye.
00:07Gwyneth Paltrow is opening up about her mental health, admitting things aren't always as
00:11they seem.
00:13In a recent viral Goop episode, she revealed she's experiencing anxiety for the first
00:17time, may have a specific disorder, and has been dealing with intrusive thoughts.
00:22It's rare for a celebrity in the spotlight to reveal private struggles, especially someone
00:27like the Shallow Hal actress, now a lifestyle guru known for giving health and wellness
00:31advice.
00:32In a recent viral episode of the Goop podcast, Gwyneth opened up about her mental health while
00:37speaking with journalist and Milk Makeup co-founder Zana Roberts Rossi.
00:42As the two entrepreneurs began talking about mental health and upholding lifestyles, the
00:46mom of two stated,
00:47I would like to be more intentional about how I spend my time.
00:51I think I have a bit of ADD and I can really sort of get pulled in lots of directions, she
00:56continued.
00:57I would love to try to not do that so much and feel more grounded throughout the day.
01:02As she continued, Gwyneth admitted she's been struggling to handle criticism or bad
01:06news lately, saying that even a negative email can feel like a slap in the face.
01:11I would really like to rewire myself so that medium or bad news doesn't feel so terrible,
01:17she noted.
01:18I've lived a very intense life in the public eye for a really, really long time.
01:23Despite nearly three decades in the spotlight, the 53-year-old says backlash and hateful
01:28comments affect her more than people think.
01:31She told the Milk co-founder that years of scrutiny have likely impacted her nervous system,
01:35and that aging and hormonal changes may play a role too.
01:38I think whenever we're at the mercy of people's opinions and all the energy behind the opinions,
01:44she said, I'm very sensitive, as most of us are, so I feel that, and it kind of frays
01:49my nervous system.
01:51I think also my hormonal phase of life, I have a lot of anxiety for the very first time in
01:56my life, which is just a symptom of hormonal changes, I think it's an estrogen dominance
02:01thing.
02:02It makes you really anxious.
02:05Though she stayed composed, Gwyneth's comments worried fans.
02:08She said the past few years have hit her hard, and that after nights of intrusive thoughts,
02:13she sometimes wakes up filled with dread.
02:16It's never been who I am, she added.
