Hulu is not staying silent with viewer complaints about 'Parasite.'
Transcript
00:00Hulu is clapping back at viewers that are voicing complaints about Parasite.
00:10The streaming service, which began exclusively streaming the 2020 Best Picture
00:13Oscar winner starting April 8th, is not staying silent after learning that some
00:17users have been tweeting insults about the Korean language film. Replying to one
00:21user who said, no one wants to watch a movie that they literally have to read
00:24to understand what's going on, the Hulu Twitter handle shot back writing, if you
00:29don't want to read subtitles you can always learn Korean. To another who
00:32called Parasite a pathetic movie, Hulu replied, it won four Oscars. The Twitter
00:37handle also hosted a watch party the first night of the film's arrival on Hulu
00:40where it live-tweeted the film. The streaming platform voicing its opinion
00:44seemed to pay off considering Hulu garner 23,600 likes in one of its posts and
00:4915,300 in another. During his time on the extensive campaign trail leading up to
00:54the 2020 Oscars, Parasite director Bong Joon-ho also acknowledged American's
00:58reluctance to view subtitled movies, even frequently joking about it. While
01:02accepting the Golden Globe for best foreign language film earlier this year,
01:05Bong noted, once you overcome the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you'll
01:09be introduced to so many more amazing films. For more on this story, head to THR.com.
