00:00The next 24 hours will be critical for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and parts of Pahang as Tropical
00:05Storm Senyar is expected to pass through these areas before heading across the rest of the
00:10country.
00:12Met Malaysia Director General Hisham Anip said that rainfall of between 200mm and 300mm
00:18is expected during this period and the rain is expected to ease by Sunday as the storm
00:22moves into the South China Sea.
00:25During a press conference here, he said this is the first time Met Malaysia has observed
00:29a storm forming in the streets of Malacca.
00:33He added that strong winds of up to 50km per hour are expected today and will persist for
00:38at least the next 24 hours.
00:40Malaysia typically sees winds of only 10-20km per hour but Tropical Storm Senyar has strengthened
00:47due to warm sea temperatures and La Nina conditions.
00:51Hisham said heavy rain is also expected to affect the rest of peninsular Malaysia until
00:55November 29th and added that Sabah and Sarawak would not be affected by the storm.
