The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delivered 15 bodies of Palestinians held by Israeli authorities to the Gaza Forensic Department in Khan Younis, marking the latest transfer under the ceasefire agreement. Mohammed Ashour, spokesperson for the Gaza Forensic Department, explained that many of the bodies are severely decomposed and difficult for families to identify. So far, only 99 of the 345 bodies transferred through the ICRC have been identified.
The forensic teams are working under challenging conditions to document and conduct examinations, while authorities and human rights organizations continue to call on Israel to allow advanced laboratory equipment for DNA testing to aid identification.
The transfer and the ongoing efforts highlight the human toll of the conflict and the critical role of international organizations in supporting families seeking closure.
