A fire in Hong Kong has killed 55 people so far, and reports say 279 people are still missing. The fire broke out in the Tai Po neighborhood and has engulfed at least seven high-rise buildings. One of the buildings, a public housing complex, has accounted for 55 deaths so far, with more residents still unaccounted for. Authorities believe the fire may have started on bamboo scaffolding that had been set up for repair work. At the moment, three construction company executives have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. Police have accused them of “gross negligence.”
