00:00It's a long road to State Parliament for Sharon Archie, an Anangu Elder who travelled from the APY lands this month for a hearing with MPs.
00:11We thought this would be our way to get somebody to finally listen to us.
00:18Parliament's Budget and Finance Committee was due to hear evidence about governance issues from a group of concerned residents amid a tumultuous period for the region.
00:27But the hearing never went ahead.
00:29I'd travelled 15 hours to get down here to attend and present to this committee, only to be told it was cancelled.
00:38The committee voted last minute to postpone the hearing indefinitely.
00:42The ABC understands that three Liberal members did not support the delay, including one who has alleged it was an attempt to avoid concerns being aired publicly.
00:51There is a deliberate move here to avoid scrutiny of Aboriginal affairs.
00:57The committee is also made up of two Labor members, Green Robert Sims and Independent Tammy Franks, who argued it would be more appropriate to hear from the administrator currently overseeing the APY lands.
01:09Budget and Finance Committee doesn't have jurisdiction to hear from individual members of the public.
01:14A new hearing date for December has been proposed, but those on the original witness list, like Sharon, would not be invited to appear.
01:21Separate to the hearing, anti-corruption detectives last week carried out several raids on the APY lands, including at the administration offices at Oomawa.
01:31Police said the raids related to an ongoing investigation.
