00:00Using the Gap version 2, which was introduced by Scott Morrison, is the government's big
00:07policy. And we're not seeing the kind of reduction in the gap in multiple indicators, most of
00:15the indicators. And I think that's the focus for 2026. I mean, you know, we have children
00:23who are suffering, who are languishing in youth detention and prison. We have a lot of issues
00:31plaguing our youth. I mean, I think this needs to be the focus of 2026. I think, you know,
00:39with my kind of constitutional recognition hat on, we still have an issue with the lack
00:45of agency of many Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people in relation to having
00:52a say on laws and policies that impact upon your lives. It's not enough or satisfactory
01:00for the government just to rely on, you know, the Coalition of Peaks and the service sector.
01:07People living in communities need to be able to exercise agency about the things that are
01:11impacting upon their lives. There's a big push happening around truth-telling
01:16and treaty because of the loss of the referendum. You've previously said that you can't have
01:23truth without justice. What does that look like for you?
01:28Yeah, I mean, I don't know whether there's a big push for truth and treaty. There might
01:33be online. But in a lot of the conversations that we have with mob around the country, you
01:42know, surviving and the day to day business of living in an Aboriginal community is what
01:47occupies them. And they certainly feel very much subjugated by bureaucracy and by government
01:55decision making. And I don't think that's changed since the voice referendum. I think
02:02there's still an exigency for voice and I think there's many communities that still want
02:06it, do want it. I mean, it's something like 85% of the community voted for it. And the
02:13idea of a representative entity has been around forever in terms of our people giving their
02:20input to Parliament on matters that affect them. So I think, you know, I don't have any scientific
02:28number at the moment as to what's preoccupying people's minds. But I think, you know, voice,
02:35treaty truth generally have been aspirations of our people for a long time.
