04:38Well, Joe, we'll start with our linebacker, Claudin Cherlis,
04:41who on this play was injured.
04:43He is out of this game with a concussion.
04:46And a developing story that we're watching.
04:48J.C. Horn is being evaluated for a concussion as well.
04:52We saw him vomiting on the sideline after his second interception in the first half.
04:57He did go back out onto the field and play a little bit more,
05:00but has not come out of the locker room in the second half.
05:03So Corey Thornton has taken his spot on the outside.
05:06Normally they're nickel corner as McCaffrey makes the catch.
05:10And it's well played.
05:12Chris Barnes, who has taken the spot of Claudin Cherlis,
05:17is there to make the stop again of just one.
05:19Well, Corey Thornton, as you mentioned, Joe,
05:21he's the undrafted free agent.
05:23He played last week as the nickel.
05:25And they love this guy and what he's able to do.
05:28He clearly made the team.
05:30But yet he's now playing outside because of the injury to J.C. Horn.
05:36And they're going to be relying on him.
05:37They were keeping him at nickel again tonight
05:39because he did perform so well last week.
05:42But a little bit of a change in positions here in this second half.
05:46Here's a handoff to Robinson.
05:48He was able to break free from Derek Brown
05:52and then ends up falling forward for four and a third down coming up, third and five.
05:58Well, this defense, you've got to be pleased with what they've been able to do.
06:01I mean, you're able to create the takeaways that they were able to there in that first half.
06:04The offense did next to nothing, and yet it's a one-possession game.
06:10And so it appears that they're going to have to be the ones,
06:14and that's a lot of pressure on this unit.
06:16And they have improved, but still,
06:18for them to try to keep this deep or keep this team in it.
06:20Here is Kittle, good throw and catch in a first down.
06:28And just to finish the story on the corner situation,
06:32Shaw Smith-Wade has taken over as that slot nickel corner.
06:38And a first down conversion on a perfect throw to Kittle.

07:10Well, these safeties for Carolina,
07:12they're an impressive bunch.
07:14Whether it's Trayvon Merrig or Nick Scott,
07:16it's a physical group.
07:18And we've seen Merrig now a few times in this game,
07:20in the open field, make pretty good tackles.
07:22That's not an easy one to make, either.
07:25He did it early in the game on McCaffrey.
07:26He does it there on Kittle.
07:31You see that Brock Purdy,
07:34he's being a little bit more cautious with the football
07:37on this drive, taking the easy throw.
07:42McCaffrey, full head of steam.
07:44And he's got another 49er first down.
07:47Well, we mentioned the year that Christian McCaffrey
07:50is having rushing the football.
07:51He hasn't had an average this low
07:54since his rookie year there with Carolina.
07:58And you watch him,
07:59and he's still playing in an extremely high level.
08:02And the biggest difference in this run game
08:05has been a little bit like I talked about
08:07with the passing game.
08:08They just have had a hard time coming up with big plays.
08:10He's only had one 20-yard run on the year,
08:14and it was last week, and it was 20 yards exactly.
08:16So he hasn't been able to break off these big runs
08:19the way that he had in prior year.
08:22He's picked up seven first downs in tonight's game.
08:26It gives way to Robinson.
08:29And he's got good blocking out on the edge
08:31from the tight end, Farrell, and others.
08:34Ransom on the tackle, gain of eight.

08:48There's so much that you can do with him.
08:50It's one of the big reasons
08:51why they made the trade that they did.
08:53He's just one of those versatile athletes.
08:56And the way that he runs the football,
08:57what they're able to do with him in the passing game as well.
09:00And you combine that with the creativity of Kyle Shanahan
09:04and do a lot of stuff, and they do.
09:07Robinson is able to break through Wharton's tackle
09:10and get a first down.
09:12Well, you think about how they got him.
09:14They picked him up midway through 2022.
09:18They gave up four draft picks,
09:19but there was not a first-round draft pick
09:21that was given up to get somebody
09:23that is that vital to an offense.
09:26He was all-world in 2023, his first full year.
09:32There's John Lynch, general manager,
09:34who pulled off that deal.
09:36Last year, played four games,
09:37had that PCL tear, an Achilles tendonitis,
09:41as Robinson on first down is able to get one.
09:47And ironically enough,
09:50Christian McCaffrey's last touchdown with Carolina,
09:52the team that took him eighth overall in 2017,
09:56was in 2022 against San Francisco.
10:00That's right.
10:00And he kind of knew that he was going to be traded.
10:03And talking with his agent,
10:04he thought that he was going to be traded
10:06to the Los Angeles Rams
10:07and then got the word that he was going to be coming back
10:10to the Bay Area with the 49ers.
10:12After that play, A'shaun Robinson injured.
10:15He's able to get up and jog off the field.
10:17We'll take a break.

24:17And he was able to get his hands up and it looked like just tip that ball that led to the incompletion and because of the penalty

34:09like a 49er he plays with reckless abandon he flies around the field i think this young guy is going to be a

35:34the passing game but that's what's going to be required here in the last seven and a half minutes if

35:45he's out of bounds with a first down for carolina with upton stout across from him he mentioned
35:51how he played stout and robert sala who's back second stint as the 49ers defensive coordinator gave him the
35:59ultimate compliment he said he's one of us and when he says that about a young player that means
36:06exactly what you're saying he plays the game the right way that's right and you don't you don't have
36:10to know a whole lot about the 49ers to know what that means to that organization just tough
36:16they play through the whistle play physical aggressive he's fun to watch

38:39coker had an opportunity for a home run shot there was a little pressure on price young by
38:46bryce huff but a missed call there that the hold obviously led to the interception

39:02furious that that adds five as they try to put this game away so a missed call on what should have been

39:50robert sola brought some pressure six times four of them they gave up big explosive plays so
39:55he's he's not brought it a lot tonight and when he has they've been successful with it carolina just has

53:29they go for it on a fourth down in inches get the first down and that as they say is that it'll do it
53:36you know you look at this joe again with christian mccaffrey he's only had three games all year where
53:41he's averaged four yards or more carrying the football in a game and tonight's another one of those in that
53:48he's going to come in at 3.7 yards per carry it's you know not what we're accustomed to seeing from
53:56him or this 49ers rushing game although they did have 140 yards rushing pretty good
54:03but just the big runs that we've not seen a lot of from christian this year mccaffrey 31 touches 142 yards
54:10and a touchdown run there's their schedule coming up we'll have that colts game in indy on monday night
54:15football so they go browns then by both teams have their bye in the latest possible week week 14
54:24then the titans then at the colts bears and seahawks they started their season with a win
54:31at seattle really before the seahawks kind of turned into the team that we see now
54:38which is one of the better teams in the nfl and that's the way they'll close their season mccaffrey

58:09the years and i'm just really thankful i got to see them and you know proud of them so i always have
58:14a lot of respect for charlotte net city and those fans and um you know but obviously it's a football
58:19game so trying to win we talked about this earlier in the week you guys are now eight and four
58:24with everything still out in front of you despite all of the adversity that you've already had to
58:28go through this season just what do you what do you love about this team as you head down to start
58:33uh we just we got guys with a lot of character um you know it's a one of the best locker rooms i've
58:38ever been a part of everybody shows up to work every day extremely hungry selfless and uh just comes
58:44to work with the right mindset so it's a really fun locker room to be a part of congrats on the win
