28:24expectations for this
28:25football team coming into
28:26the season because of all
28:27the guys they lost
28:29really good football players
28:31and they've weathered these
28:32injuries their best football
28:34still out ahead of Purdy
28:37able to survey
28:38and Juwan Jennings who has a
28:40touchdown in this ball game
28:42gets four
28:45well here are the injuries
28:4749ers are tired of looking
28:48at this list and thinking
28:49about it they missed Brock
28:51Purdy for eight games
28:52Pearsall was out for six
28:54Kittle missed five with a
28:55hamstring Iuke has not played
28:57Bosa out for the season
28:58Warner out for the season
29:00there are those two great
29:01linebackers
29:04and when you talk about Iuke
29:06as you look at Fred Warner
29:08and
29:08Nick Bosa
29:09Iuke it seems like
29:13this has been a big story
29:14out here all week
29:15may have played his last down
29:17for the 49ers
29:18yeah
29:18that went south in a hurry
29:20here is Purdy has the ball

29:46lost so many key players they
29:47were without McCaffrey for most
29:50of the season along with Iuke
29:51when he injured that knee and
29:53also Kittle and Debo and Juwan
29:54Jennings and yet you know they
29:57went through it again this year
29:58and somehow Kyle Shanahan has
30:00kind of found a way to hold it
30:02together and keep them in the
30:03hunt play clock was expiring
30:06and before third and six time
30:09out is taken by Brock Purdy up
30:13seven 49ers face a third down
30:16here at third down and six they
30:18are on their third kicker of the
30:19year Matt Gay Eddie Pinheiro
30:21pulled his hamstring last week
30:23in that win at Arizona they
30:25started the year with former
30:26third-round pick Jake Moody so
30:30Pinheiro is out and Matt Gay who
30:32has bounced around in his NFL
30:34career is now the kicker for San
30:36Francisco after being let go by
30:40the commander stir down and six
30:44Purdy down the middle for
30:47Pearson he's picked again by Mike
30:49Jackson
30:56and now Mike Jackson with a second
31:10of the night for Carolina trying to

32:22here's a handoff on second down to
32:27Chuba Hubbard he lost his starting
32:30spot when he missed a couple of games
32:32with a calf injury and Rico Dowdle
32:35came out of kind of nowhere after
32:37signing a one-year deal the former
32:40Dallas Cowboys just went off
32:42he really did those two games the
32:46Chuba Hubbard missed I mean he
32:48went for 200 yards in one game
32:51180 yards in the other and kind of
32:54took over his running back one
32:56from that moment on third down and
32:59two good pocket McMillan
33:08blocked it Ted Aroa who leads all
33:12rookies in catches and receiving
33:14yards had a first down in his pocket
33:16and just could not make the catch
33:19that is one area that he has
33:21struggled he's got five drops on the
33:23season and and he's got good hands
33:26I mean coming into the league he's
33:27got good hands just a lack of
33:29concentration there you mentioned
33:31just no pass rush on Bryce Young
33:33whatsoever and Ted Aroa
33:36McMillan who's had a great rookie
33:38year just unable to make the catch
33:40on what would have been a nice
33:42conversion and them to be able to
33:44maintain possession of the
33:45football so they've done nothing
33:47with the two interceptions
33:48Carolina has gone three and out
33:50then the interception now another
33:52three and out and here's a nice
33:54punt by Sam Martin down to the
33:5917 Bay Bridge on a beautiful night

35:25much Merrick in on the stop again and
35:27Bam Martin Scott joined him a game of
35:29two look at this defense I mean they've
35:31been on the field a lot here in this
35:33first half and the offense for
35:34Carolina unable to really get much
35:37going and they have to get back out
35:38there and almost able to give the
35:40offense another short field to see
35:42what they could do with it but a much
35:45improved group from where they were a
35:47year ago they were near the bottom or
35:49at the bottom and virtually every
35:51statistical category and it made
35:53great progress and they're doing all
35:55they can to keep this team in it
35:59second down at eight lay action
36:04birdie picked again third one
36:07second for horn and this crowd is
36:12starting to get restless
36:17well JC Horn has nobody to his side and
36:21so he's able to fall off and just read
36:23the eyes it's a great job by JC Horn
36:26that's the third throw that Brock
36:28Purdy has made over 15 yards in the
36:31air and it's the third interception of
36:33the night JC Horn as he runs across he
36:36undercuts it he's on the other side of
36:38the field playing corner but nobody was
36:41in his area he's just simply reading
36:44Purdy and seeing that in breaking
36:46route and undercuts it Brock Purdy
36:49never sees him nor should he have
36:51seen him just a great play by JC
36:53Horn and there the numbers on 15
36:56yard throws this season he's got one
36:59touchdown but six picks three
37:00tonight as Troy said and the Panthers

37:05interceptions have three and here they
37:07are again this one is caught by horn and

43:49second down here Purdy is able to get
43:52back to Kittle and a big chunk play of
43:59twenty five yards to George Kittle
44:01yeah good job by Kittle he finds the
44:03soft spot he had McCaffrey in front
44:05of him but that's not Purdy style it
44:07doesn't matter what's happened up to
44:09this point he is going to keep
44:11chunking it down the field it's
44:13really kind of what he does and at
44:15times it's amazing and then at other
44:17times we see what we've seen in this
44:18first half with some of the
44:20interceptions but he's not going to
44:22take off the gas that's for sure and
44:24he does a nice job finding Kittle in
44:26the open shape 49ers longest play of
44:29the night here's another one high and
44:32nearly picked that would have been the
44:33fourth Kittle was the target and along
44:36those lines of what you just said Troy
44:38when we talked to Kyle Shanahan he said
44:40he will not give up on a play talking
44:42about Purdy it's what makes him great and
44:46what drives him nuts sometimes and we've
44:48seen examples of that here tonight yeah
44:50and you watch him play at all I mean he
44:52is not going to give up on a play he's
44:54got a lot of confidence in his ability
44:56to place the ball where he wants to and
44:58you know like Kyle Shanahan said it's his
45:00greatest strength it's also his
45:02greatest weakness it's true for all of
45:03us when it comes to that but he got
45:06away with one there that very easily
45:08could have been his fourth second and
45:10ten good protection Kittle dropped it
45:14Merrick was there but Kittle couldn't
45:16make the catch Carolina has three
45:19timeouts the clock stops with that
45:20incompletion with a minute nine
45:22remaining in the half this offense
45:23when you look at it Joe the
45:25game is the game is the game is the
45:27game is when you look at it Joe they
45:29they got the twenty five yard
45:30completion to Kittle just moments
45:31ago prior to that you know their
45:33longest play had been about twelve
45:34yards they just have not been the
45:36big play offense that we've seen of
45:39them and they've got to do it a
45:40little bit differently than they
45:42have in the past and you just kind
45:45of wonder what what is going through
45:47Brock Purdy's mind because when you
45:48start throwing some of those it does
45:52tend to have an effect third down
45:55third down and ten here here's a
45:59another throw that gets away and
46:01it's Jackson again who had the best
46:04shot at it Matt Gay will come on to
46:07attempt his first field goal as a
46:09forty-niner didn't look like Purdy
46:10and Juwan Jennings were on the same
46:12page which is a little unusual
46:13because of how precise this passing
46:15game is and the fact that they've
46:17worked together and Juwan Jennings
46:19looked like he was laboring a little
46:20bit getting at the top of his route
46:22but just the ball nowhere close and
46:26forty-niner faithful beginning to
46:27express some of their displeasure
46:29forty-seven yard drive by Matt Gay
46:35he's able to knock it through won a
46:37kicking competition during the week
46:39to get this done and a former

48:03these teams have played coming into
48:05it haven't played like that in this

48:53season just getting nothing out of
48:56the passing game and I think it's
48:57caused canalis to play this drive
48:59just a little bit conservatively
49:02made a first down and he and
49:05McMillan talking about Bryce Young
49:07on different pages of the
49:08playbook and it is a quick three
49:09and out and now with two timeouts
49:11remaining the 49ers will get the ball
49:14back and they'll go back on offense
49:17leading by seven by the way Carolina
49:19will get the kickoff to start the
49:20second half but that this has not
49:22been a good half of football
49:24offensively well really for either
49:25side but definitely for Carolina
49:26yeah it has not been the
49:28performance that Carolina was
49:29hoping for.

52:08They're near the bottom in terms of
52:09getting pressure and then they
52:11also play a lot of zone coverage
52:13so it opens up a lot of things
52:14in the intermediate zones of the
52:16field and yet Carolina just
52:18simply has not been able to take
52:19advantage of any of them.
52:20They put a second back on the
52:22clock.
52:23Nine seconds remain.
52:24Wharton cannot bring down
52:26Purdy who is able to find
52:29Kittle and they're going to say
52:31incomplete with three seconds
52:33left and it's an incomplete
52:38pass that'll bring the ball back
52:41near the forty five and
52:43definitely his feet were out of

52:48sleeve here if they're going to
52:49try to air one out.

57:27Pinnock made the stop but a strong
57:29run of 17 yards by Rico Dowdle.

57:33This is vintage Rico Dowdle when
57:35you watch him and the things that
57:36he's able to do.
57:37He's a violent runner and they
57:39need to get him going.
57:40They need to get everybody going
57:41for that matter as you know Joe
57:43but for him.
