At the premiere of 'The White Lotus' season three, Sam Nivola shares his reaction with THR on the first time he read the scripts for the show. Plus, he talks about the unique situation of living with his castmates in Thailand.
00:03What did you think when you first read these scripts?
00:05I mean, I was shocked and taken aback and confused and happy and sad and screaming and crying.
00:12You're so pretty!
00:14You're so pretty!
00:16I love you. I love you. I love your shirt.
00:19Um, sorry, uh, yeah, I was just, I was blown away.
00:23He's, Mike White is one of the best writers on this planet, best writers of all time.
00:28He's just like a complete legend and a genius and I was just, I was, I think I was on a plane somewhere,
00:34maybe from L.A. to New York, just reading them thinking, I can't believe how lucky I am to get to read these lines.
00:41I'm doing this and the perfect couple back to back. It seems like you really have like a genre down.
00:46I know, I do.
00:47Although now the next thing I'm doing is an out and out comedy, so I'm trying to switch it up.
00:52Yeah, and what was the group bonding like in Thailand?
00:55It seems like there'd be a lot of activities you guys could do.
00:57Uh, it was fantastic.
00:59It was like, you know, a totally unique experience to get to live with all of your co-stars and just hang out and shoot the shit on the weekends.
01:07And, uh, yeah, I think it's, I think it's really much more important maybe than people think a lot of the time that you get really close with your cast, especially in something like this that involves a lot of like thinking on your feet and some improv.
01:20And, you know, if you're, if you're close with the people that are supposed to be playing your family, you'll feel more like a family.
01:26And I think, I think hopefully we, uh, pulled that off.
