"I was always trying to find the theatrical aspects," the 'Star Wars' actor said of the fast food gig.
Transcript
00:00Everyone has to start somewhere, even Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.
00:09When the iconic Star Wars actor dropped by The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday,
00:14he revealed that he was once fired from working at Jack in the Box for doing character voices
00:18to drive-thru customers. Hamill got on the subject when Corden's other guest, Bradley Whitford,
00:23reminisced about meeting the Star Wars icon when he was a young waiter and aspiring actor.
00:27Hamill revealed he also once worked in the food industry, but his experience working
00:32at Jack in the Box didn't go so well. The actor said of the fast food gig,
00:35"...I was always trying to find the theatrical aspects of it. And rather than using his speaking
00:39voice while working the drive-thru window, he decided to do a clownish impression that
00:43made him think of the restaurant's mascot, the Jack in the Box."
00:47You know, who would want to hear, so, what's your order? I wanted to hear, what's your order?
00:53My manager didn't think it was very funny. He told me to go home and never come back.
00:57Besides Star Wars, Hamill is a renowned voiceover actor, most notably as the voice
01:01of Batman's Joker. He laughed off the Jack in the Box story, imagining telling his old
01:05manager this,
01:06"...I'll show you. One day I'll be the Joker and then you'll be sorry."
01:10"...There you go."
01:11Hamill also voices Chucky in the upcoming movie Child's Play, due in theaters June 21st.
