Nick Cordero, the charming Tony-nominated actor known for his work in 'Bullets Over Broadway,' 'Waitress' and 'A Bronx Tale the Musical,' died Sunday after a grueling battle with the coronavirus, his wife announced. He was 41.

00:05The Tony-nominated actor, known for his work in Bullets Over Broadway,

00:09Waitress, and A Bronx Tale the Musical, was diagnosed with what was thought to be pneumonia

00:13in late March. He spent weeks in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles,

00:18had his right leg amputated, lost more than 60 pounds, and was hoping to receive a double

00:22lung transplant. Survivors include his wife, fitness instructor and former Broadway dancer

00:27Amanda Kludz, who chronicled his health struggles on social media, and their one-year-old son,

00:31Elvis. Kludz wrote on Instagram, in part,

00:33A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family. Many in Hollywood and the Broadway community also

00:52took to social media to pay tribute to Cordero. Zach Braff, who co-starred with Cordero,

00:56in Bullets Over Broadway, wrote on Sunday,

00:59Nick Cordero passed at 11.40 a.m. today with his mother and wife by his side.

01:03I can honestly tell you I have never met a kinder human being. Don't believe that COVID

01:07only claims the elderly and infirm. I am so grateful for the time we had. We'll catch up

01:11some other time. Biola Davis wrote on Twitter,

01:14Rest in peace, Nick Cordero. My condolences to you, Amanda, who fought and loved so hard.

01:18So sorry for his little one. My heart is with you. May flights of angels.

01:22And Josh Gad tweeted,

01:23My heart is broken. I feel ill. Along with the entire Broadway community and the entire world,

01:29I mourn the loss of the incredible Nick Cordero and send my sincerest love and prayers to Amanda
