A Turkish-German family of four died in Istanbul from phosphine gas poisoning, likely from a pesticide used in their hotel. An investigation is ongoing.

00:00A Turkish-German family of four who died while on holiday in Istanbul were likely killed from
00:07phosphine gas from a pesticide. According to a preliminary autopsy report, it had been used
00:13to treat a bug infestation in their hotel and was found in various parts of the hotel room.
00:20The Bojek family went to hospital on the 12th of November with vomiting and nausea and were
00:26discharged after receiving treatment. But the next day, they fell ill again and their condition
00:31was treated as an emergency. The children aged six and three died that day, while the mother died
00:39on November 14th and their father died on the 17th. Two other tourists also staying at the hotel
00:45were hospitalized and the hotel has been closed.
