01:08I talk about all of my experiences going through being vilified, but I also talk about the
01:13experience of trying to explain that to my daughter and how absurd that that can be.
01:18Like telling my four-year-old daughter a Dr. Seuss fairytale version of this very dramatic
01:26and serious thing that happened to me and people that I cared about.
01:37Previously the family, as many will know, we've kept a sort of reserved silence and I think
01:43that's the right thing to do.
01:45But in this instance, I think there was quite a sort of impact on many people.
01:49We felt very strongly that the violence surrounding the theme is not appropriate for a platform
01:58at a comedy show.
02:00But I would have hoped that two decades on, we'd maybe have a little bit more empathy around
02:06using this theme and association in such a traumatic sort of event in our lives.
02:13I would really hope that moving forward, she can try to move away from Meredith's name.
02:21I very much understand that she has her own story to tell, but we've heard it many, many
02:27times now.
02:28What I can say is that I've never seen the kind of scrutiny and criticism pointed towards
02:33a wrongly accused man that I've seen pointed towards me.
02:35I can't say that I was anticipating a petition, but I was anticipating criticism and pushback
02:44in the sense that I have always received criticism and pushback no matter what I've done.
