00:00Sophia Bush is reflecting on her decision to share insight into her private life in a revealing
00:05glamour cover story about her divorce and coming out as queer. In her essay, Bush revealed what
00:12led to her split from Grant Hughes and confirmed her relationship with Ashlyn Harris. The One Tree
00:17Hill alum shared that by changing the course of her life and making the difficult decision to
00:21divorce Hughes and come out as queer, she found true happiness. In her essay, she noted that she
00:27felt like this year, turning 41, felt like her very first birthday. Days after the essay was
00:32published, Bush explained what she meant with her birthday realization in an Instagram post.
00:36I felt like last summer I had my very first birthday, my own. And last summer, Maggie Smith's
00:42words helped me begin to understand why. From afar, she helped me put myself back together.
00:47Bush included a poem from the You Could Make This Place Beautiful author, which explained
00:51Bush's own emotions. How I picture it, we are all nesting dolls, carrying the earlier iterations
00:56of ourselves inside. We carry the past inside us. We take ourselves, all of ourselves, wherever
01:01we go. Inside 40-something me is the woman I was in my 30s, the woman I was in my 20s, the
01:07teenager I was, the child I was. I still carry these versions of myself. It's a kind of reincarnation
01:13without death. All these different lives, we get to live in this one body as ourselves.
01:17Looking back at why it was important to shed light on her personal life, the actress wrote,
01:22This week I got to share my own words that I wrote down from the bottom of my ever-evolving
01:26heart. For more on this story, head to THR.com. And for the latest entertainment news and updates,
