Afghan residents in Kunar province walked through shattered homes and debris after Pakistani airstrikes hit multiple civilian areas along the border, destroying houses and injuring children, according to locals and the Taliban administration. Video shows collapsed walls, damaged belongings, and residents picking through rubble. One resident, Mohammad Ghulam, said “there are no military personnel here—only civilians”, accusing Pakistan of a “brutal attack” that flattened a two-story home. Another resident, Yunus Khan, said even children’s schoolbooks and the Qur’an were damaged in the strike. The Taliban government says nine children and one woman were killed in nearby Khost province. Islamabad has not yet commented on the incident, which follows a series of attacks inside Pakistan it blames on militants operating from Afghanistan. Tensions between the two neighbors are rising again despite a recent ceasefire.
