00:00If you're building a home studio on a $1,000 budget, these are my top recommendations for you
00:04with the total cost at the end. First, the interface. This is the centerpiece of your
00:09studio where everything connects. My choice is the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen. Next,
00:14we need a microphone. My favorite budget choice is the Lewitt LCT440 Pure, which I'm recording
00:19my voiceover through right now, and it sounds amazing. This mic includes a pop filter, but we
00:24need to get our own mic stand, and this one on Amazon by Pyle is my go-to. Can't hear yourself
00:29while you're recording without some headphones, and I've been using these Audio-Technica ATH-M50X
00:35in every session for nearly 10 years. If we're producing music, we need a MIDI controller,
00:39and this iRig Keys 2 by IK Multimedia covers all the basics with the full-size keys and plenty of
00:45octaves. You'll also want some studio monitors when you're producing, mixing, and mastering,
00:49and these new Atom D3Vs pack a powerful punch and connect via USB-C or to your interface,
00:55which is extremely convenient and rare to find. We have an entire studio setup, but nothing is
01:00connected, so we need some cables. My favorite brand is Canary because they let you choose your
01:04favorite length and connector type. For the setup, we need two speaker cables and one microphone cable,
01:09and if you haven't already picked a DAW, you'll need some software to record, and my recommendation
01:13is Logic Pro 11. If we buy most of our gear used, our total cost comes just under our budget at $945.76,
01:21and if we buy everything at retail price, our total is nearly twice as much at $1,365.24.
