The online video conference is the latest event to be canceled amid the outbreak, joining SXSW, Cinemacon, E3, Coachella and Tribeca in moving their schedule.

00:00VidCon, which was set to take place in California in June, is officially canceled amid the global
00:05coronavirus pandemic. The online video conference and fan convention was scheduled for June 17th
00:10through 20th at the Anaheim Convention Center. But with no clear timeline for when travel and
00:14business operations will return to normal, VidCon U.S. has been canceled. In a statement posted to
00:20the VidCon Twitter account, VidCon General Manager Jim Lauterbach said,
00:23Unfortunately, due to the continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we made the difficult
00:27decision to cancel VidCon U.S. We are working hard to bring you a VidCon U.S. experience this fall
00:34and will keep you posted as those details come together. All tickets and pre-ordered
00:38merchandise will be refunded by April 15th. Originally founded by YouTube creators John
00:43and Hank Green, VidCon was acquired by Viacom in 2018 and has continued to expand its reach
00:48internationally. Popular content creators took to social media to react to the news, including
00:52Hank Green, who tweeted,
00:57The Merrill twins said,

01:06We respect VidCon for making this difficult decision. Your safety means everything to us,
01:11and this isn't goodbye forever. VidCon will be back.
01:14Jen McAllister wrote,
01:15I'm sad because I love VidCon and love hanging out with you guys, but everyone's safety is what's
