Transcript
00:00Get ready for a new kind of late show. Stephen Colbert has officially been tapped as the new
00:04host of Late Night. This is good stuff. The official CBS statement announced that Stephen
00:09Colbert is the host of the Late Night show, officially replacing David Letterman's show
00:14seat when he retires next year. Last week, Letterman announced on his show that he will
00:18be stepping down as Late Night King sometime in 2015. It's been great. You've been great.
00:23The network has been great, but I'm retiring. Colbert signed a five-year agreement with CBS
00:27with his start date yet to be determined. Once Letterman nails down his final broadcast schedule,
00:32the Comedy Central host will be slated soon after. In a statement, CBS noted that certain
00:36details about Colbert's Late Night show, such as its production team, location, and specific
00:41creative elements are unknown. Like if he's going to be playing a character on the show
00:46like he does in Colbert, or he appears like himself. He is not me. This is the real Stephen
00:52Colbert. Now with the future departure of Stephen Colbert, Comedy Central currently has an open
00:57time slot with no suitable replacements. Maybe Chris Hardwick will fill the slot? Who knows?
01:03Now get this, David Letterman just reacted to the news. He said,
01:06Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I'm very excited for him, and I'm flattered
01:10that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses.
01:15I'm Brian Corsetti. Stay tuned to ENTV for all your entertainment news.
