Transcript
00:00When true detective director Cary Fukunaga took to the stage to accept his Emmy on Monday night,
00:05every woman and maybe even some men in America let out a collective.
00:09Who is that?
00:11Here are five things to know about your new Hollywood crush.
00:14The 37-year-old director's great genes are courtesy of his half-Swedish, half-Japanese blood.
00:19He also speaks two languages, French and Spanish.
00:23The NYU Tisch Film School grad was born in Oakland, California and has lived in France, Japan and Mexico City, but currently lives in NYC.
00:33Cary originally wanted to be a pro snowboarder but wrote screenplays when he was younger and made films with his friends.
00:40His most notable projects prior to directing True Detective are Sin Nombre, which he wrote and directed, and 2011's Jane Eyre.
00:47He dated Michelle Williams back in 2011.
00:50Something tells us she's not the only big actor to help court in his life.
00:54He's a romantic.
00:56He reportedly once revealed that he's, quote,
00:58written immense love letters that are supposed to be opened over days at a time in order to get a girl to fall for him.
01:04And even when he landed the girl, he says he would create portraits and drawings,
01:08letters that form outlines of significant things in a relationship.
01:12Um, something tells me he won't have to try so hard from here on out.
01:16By the way, if you want to keep up with Cary's work, his next project is titled Beasts of No Nation, starring our other Hollywood crush Idris Elba.
01:24I'm Milena Scantlin.
