00:00Olivia Munn is sharing details of her breast cancer journey, which has led her to have
00:04medically induced menopause. In a People magazine cover story published Wednesday,
00:09Munn reflected on her breast cancer diagnosis, which she revealed publicly last month.
00:14The diagnosis led to four surgeries and a double mastectomy. You realize cancer doesn't care who
00:19you are. It doesn't care if you have a baby or if you don't have time. It comes at you and you
00:23have no choice but to face it head on. When faced with a fast-moving cancer known as luminal B,
00:28within 30 days, Munn shared that she underwent multiple procedures,
00:32including a double mastectomy. I had amazing doctors, but it was still a negotiation sometimes
00:37on what we are doing. But I'm glad I did. I want to give myself the best shot of keeping the parts
00:41of me that I can keep. Noting that she underwent a nipple delay procedure, a surgical process which
00:47spares the nipples ahead of breast reconstruction. After believing she did not have breast cancer due
00:51to her annual mammogram three months prior coming back clear, she eventually learned that her
00:56lifetime breast cancer risk score was a 37.3 percent. Anything higher than a 20 percent score
01:02is considered high risk. An additional screening beyond a standard mammogram is likely necessary.
01:08After an ultrasound detected two more tumors in her right breast and another MRI confirmed cancer
01:13in her left breast as well, Munn underwent a double mastectomy. After taking time to recover,
01:19Munn later underwent reconstruction surgery last fall. She also shared how partner John Mulaney
01:24supported her throughout with their son. It would have felt like climbing an iceberg without him.
01:28I don't think he had a moment to himself between being an incredibly hands-on father
01:32and going to and from the hospital, taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap,
01:37driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me, going home, putting Malcolm to bed,
01:41coming back to me. And he did it all happily.
