00:00we have to start phase three now to give us any chance whatsoever of finishing this renovation
00:10on time but we haven't finished the basement yet yeah we just have to make the best of it
00:22that's all we can do with the mud on I look 25 years older
00:27oh it's been such a pain hasn't it this driveway it's like giving birth once it's over you don't
00:44remember the bad bits you just think oh look this is our new baby I'm ready well I don't know if I
00:54is your weapon ready as I'll ever be hardcore Harman now that the glass doors off of the living room
01:07have arrived I'm really excited yeah one this is the dream this is what we hoped life in Spain would
01:20be like the frame is in there all way around I love doing things twice I'm just like one thing to be
01:27finished oh no windows in you know
01:32as we head into the final month or so of the renovation things are starting to come together
01:50the first floor is done the pool is working and the other spaces from phase two are close to
01:59completion now working on phase three which focuses on the ground floor housing Jasmine and John's
02:06bedroom the lounge diner and the kitchen the demolition phase is well underway while he's
02:16currently away for work a few months ago John helped remove the wall to the living room and the kitchen has
02:22now also been ripped out and the wall on the entrance hall side quickly removed the most annoying thing
02:29about the new open plan space is that column it would just be so nice if it wasn't there while everyone
02:38involved has always assumed it's a load-bearing column that can't be removed builder Quinn and the team have
02:44a spot of something that should please Jasmine pretty small yeah pretty small that's really small
02:50definitely a concrete problem but it's not very big there couldn't be a pillar of brick it wouldn't hold
02:55any weight well maybe I have to get someone to have a look at it because yeah I definitely did not
03:00expect that to be brick or I told it was a concrete column there definitely not maybe I can get an engineer to have a look at
03:08it looks like Jasmine might be able to get the completely open space she wants after all oh my gosh
03:16yeah it's pretty chaotic yeah it's going what we've discovered is this isn't actually a concrete column
03:26huh it's just brick really I think it might be a good idea if we get an engineer to come in and see if
03:33it's even necessary because I've got a feeling and it's not so if we can get rid of that we can really
03:38open up the space I mean we all thought it was a column didn't yeah but it doesn't seem to be
03:43it's just brick it's just brick which I can't see that brick supporting you know because why would you
03:50do concrete columns everywhere else and there's just yeah brick so how what's holding the house up
03:55well yeah um hope no I'm joking there's two columns I really hope that we can get rid of that column
04:05there's clearly loads of work to be done in there and with the builders now very much occupying the
04:12main living space Jasmine and the family have moved downstairs
04:16I'm just making myself a bit of lunch and I'm down in the basement this is how we're living
04:27literally the fridge that I have to go through the plastic I have to fight through all the stuff down
04:38here look all this and the fridge is in here but I shouldn't complain just be happy when this door
04:49goes on I don't have to go through a plastic sheet anymore to get to the fridge our plan was to finish
04:59everything down in the basement then move down there so that the guys could move upstairs and start taking
05:06out the kitchen and doing all the work on the ground floor everything here in the summer kind
05:10of closes down so you'll go down to like skeleton staff and for example the worktop guys they have
05:18the whole of month of August off so if we don't get our kitchen in and the templates done for the worktop
05:28before that cutoff date then we will have no worktop for the entire summer that's why we're in such a rush
05:36to get it done with the kitchen now the priority and John away Jasmine's heading into Malaga City to
05:45choose a worktop from her preferred supplier I've come to the city of Malaga today because I'm on the
05:54hunt for a kitchen worktop I think the worktop is possibly the most important decision you make in a
06:01kitchen because it's the bit that you're looking at all the time when you're chopping you know it's on
06:06top of everything else so yeah it's something that I wanted to make sure that I got right
06:15kind of have in mind what I want I think I'm gonna go something quite light in color because the
06:27kitchen is on the north side of the house so I want it to be bright as bright as possible since this worktop
06:35company works closely with the supplier of Jasmine's kitchen they have a sample of her cabinet doors on
06:41hand there's my door there it is and we can see different options and you can start playing with it
06:49I mean it looks really nice I just I'm not that feeling the feeling of it it doesn't make me want
07:03to it's the it's a different lie down on it and just go oh yeah which some of the other ones do what
07:10are the price differences between natural stone or the other ones roughly would be come as under
07:20countertop would be between 2,000 euros on 3,000 and a half so it would be probably around 1700 pounds
07:32mm-hmm to about 3,000 pounds something like so and is that for a kitchen that based on a kitchen of my
07:39my kitchen okay for example this one in silestone could be using a lower price so probably is in the
07:47lower range of the prices it more now you like it there's so many to choose from yeah a lot of
08:06options do you do all your customers come in and go oh it's normal people get crazy here no worries
08:11yeah all right I'm gonna pick out my favorites and just put them next to it and then any we we are
08:17gonna give you I'm gonna give you a small sample of fish color that you like and you're gonna bring
08:22it home and then and yeah start thinking about it okay because you have a different options I think I've
08:29found it a lot more difficult to actually choose one than I thought there are so many elements to
08:35think about it's the worktop next to the doors the door handles the floor the sink the taps the tiles
08:44you know all of those things have got to work together so it is important to make the right
08:49decision I think it was two thousand euros about seventeen hundred pounds and three and a half
08:57thousand euros so about three thousand pounds then that's quite a big difference thank you very much
09:08thanks for coming I started I'll tell you about to put any bye bye bye bye
09:15the next day it's back to the messy work on site day two of the demolition and they're getting everything
09:33ready Rebecca from the kitchen company's coming this afternoon so there's quite a lot to do
09:38hi hey oh wow yeah finishing quickly this is going down quick it's coming down definitely I know that
09:48the columns right in the way isn't it it's a bit of an eyesore but I've spoken to an engineer and he
09:54says those types of blocks which I we already thought are not load-bearing and because the
09:59column doesn't go all the way through the house it's it's not going to be a structural column so
10:04I do think we can yeah I think we can take it out oh my gosh that's brilliant which is just going to
10:09completely open this room much nice it's already it's already looking so much brighter in here as
10:14well so it's just going to transform this space it really actually let you come through that front
10:19door and it's all open and then that's right in the middle of your view we're very lucky that it
10:25isn't a structural I mean you can do the honors if you want I will do the honors actually if that's
10:30cool get kitted out my hair on whatever I can do it that's really exciting I'm ready well I don't know
10:40if I am actually there's your weapon ready as I'll ever be where should I aim for I go for the middle
10:46or the towards the top towards the top it's quite strong isn't it it's time to start smashing down
10:58some walls oh it's sorry I've got one bicep it's gonna be like huge and the other one's just
11:11that's it good job it hasn't fallen down yet so keep going yeah yeah if you want to keep the top bit
11:28uh yeah I'll go for the top bit
11:29I just got rid of it with my own bare hands and it was quite satisfying it's completely changed
11:58the space in that room it just makes it a much better space I'm really happy
12:04it's another sunny day down on the Costa del Sol
12:17the kitchen wall and column have been successfully removed just in time for Rebecca from the kitchen
12:26company's visit okay should we do the easy bit first yeah okay the plumbing so we're gonna have
12:32hot too cold and also we're having a hot boiling hot tap a boiling hot tap okay working with builder
12:39Quinn Rebecca is marking out all of the electrical plumbing and appliance points to make sure Quinn
12:45is fully prepped for the kitchen installation and if you do two sockets that way yeah and Jasmine also
12:55has some decisions to make your lighting in your wall cabinets do you want them all switched from one
13:02switch or do you want them switched from underneath they'll have a remote oh that's fun I think I
13:10underestimated how much there is to do before the actual kitchen units go in we want to get the floor
13:18done all the electrics done ceilings and all everything on this side of the room as well so the living
13:26area because it's open plan so all the windows done basically everything needs to be finished I can
13:32visualize it exactly how I've seen it on the design I think it's gonna look even better now that this
13:40column is gone I think it will just be a fantastic big open space I think this is gonna be perfect with
13:50Rebecca in the kitchen left in Quinn's capable hands and John still away on a work trip Jasmine heads into
13:56town to run a few errands but it's not long before she's needed back on site I've just been at the
14:05local council office getting some paperwork done and I've had a call saying that something's happened
14:11here but I don't know what it is so I'm obviously thinking the worst like the house has fallen down or
14:17something when I after I took the column out hello hello how's it going we've hit a pipe because these
14:26pipes are very close to the top if you want to probably continue with marble we might have to
14:32get these pipes moved lower into the ground because obviously marble by itself is about three centimeters
14:37yeah which is not ideal but because it's just see how high it is there's that yeah I can see yeah so is
14:43it the plumber coming to my messaging yeah so when the plumber gets ill I'll have a chat with him
14:48and see how easy it's gonna be to actually move those pipes lower it's not ideal but it's nothing
14:56that's can't be done okay yeah speak to the plumber then see these things happen when you're doing a
15:01refurb especially because you just don't you don't know what you're gonna run into all right okay I'm
15:06getting used to yeah hiccups along the way it's a part of it I suppose just it just means that
15:13everything's slightly more complex and takes a bit longer than expected yeah I guess you're used to it
15:20yes all right well keep me those days hosted and I'll let you know what the plumber says thank you okay
15:25cool and a few hours later the plumbers have been and there's an easy solution don't know why I
15:35didn't realize this at the time but where they are is going to be underneath the kitchen units so even if
15:42we put the same marble as we've got in the rest of the house throughout the main kitchen and it just
15:50stops before those water pipes and we can maybe cover those with something else just the thinner tile
15:54then we don't have to do all that digging out and relocating all those water pipes no one's ever
16:00going to see it anyway it will be underneath the kitchen I mean it might just slightly mess with
16:05my head a little bit knowing that it's different tiles under there but I'm at this point I'm happy to
16:12to let that go the next morning it's another sunny but busy day with loads going on the doors have
16:31arrived for the living room balcony I think they're probably quite heavy so I'm gonna leave it to them
16:47despite having already taken out two walls and a column opening the kitchen to the living room there
16:53is more to go Jasmine and John want to take out the walls of the terrace as well replacing it with a
16:59series of sliding doors look lovely don't they did a nice window see Josh that's the way to do it quicker
17:07I think he's done this before now it's great now that the glass doors off of the living room have
17:17arrived and I'm really excited they're huge and I think when they're installed it's going to look
17:25amazing there are four doors in total costing nearly four and a half thousand pounds a pretty big
17:32investment each just over a meter wide and nearly two and a half meters tall because it was a festival
17:41last night a lot of the builders haven't come into work this morning so not everyone is here to help carry
17:49I think having all that lovely glass is going to be such an improvement on what the room looked
17:57like before we didn't want to take out the windows and doors that are there before the other ones were
18:03on sites just in case but now they're here they can just get everything ready I mean I've had my feel of
18:14noise and dust but I'm gonna have to suck it up for a few more days I think I'm hiding down in the
18:22basement trying to get on with other stuff trying to get everything that the designer has put on the
18:31plans delivered in time so there's just so many things going on I'll leave them to it and try and
18:38ignore the noise and the dust but before the current flooring in the living room becomes covered in
18:44debris there's a decision to be made we decided to try and match the original marble floor take it and
18:53take it all the way through to the kitchen and so we got hold of a few samples to have a look at to
18:58decide which was the best so I think obviously that color that one's out that's out isn't it I know
19:05some I know some of the the marble tiles have got a bit of that warmer color but yeah that's
19:11definitely I think that's not right yeah that's the clear winner in it I think with this well once
19:18it's polished that will look like that because we've got to polish the old hello yes that's what I
19:24come up yeah that will come up a lot that's a lot there's 20 30 years of dirt and flattening on that
19:30you know it will polish up to the same as this I think it will mold in really well I think it will
19:34be fine if you look at that one for instance there's hardly any difference between them two
19:39no exactly so that's all these in this so I mean they're all different everyone is different that
19:46one's white that one next yeah look at this beige yeah exactly it's great that one that's what
19:52happens in natural products that's why you don't pick them you know you don't sort through them you
19:57just lay them as they come the more it's there the more it looks it looks right than it the more it's
20:01later it'll be good yeah all right so we sorted on the floor I can order that then yeah okay thank
20:07you no problem this marble is from a village called Michael in Almeria so it's a few hours drive away
20:14it's kind of local marble which is why so many of the properties here have that same floor but it's
20:23used all over Europe it's a really really beautiful marble product so we're very lucky that we live so
20:32close to it we can have it in our house with that decision made Dominic's team start work on removing the
20:40two sets of double doors that currently provide access to the terrace while Steven the expert window
20:50fitter in the team makes quick work of removing and then installing a new window in the kitchen that
20:56was delivered alongside the four doors and cost roughly eight hundred and fifty pounds with it
21:04quickly becoming one of the noisiest and dustiest days of the project so far Jasmine manages to escape
21:11to her regular dance exercise class it seems she's really starting to get the hang of it I do love going
21:19to my exercise class down on the Paseo right in front of the beach it's what has kept me sane over
21:28these last few months so I can switch my phone off for an hour and just focus on the class it's a little
21:39bit of time out it's a respite from all the chaos here invariably when I then finish the class and take
21:48my phone out of my bag I've got 16 million messages about various things and I get home to utter pandemonium
21:55almost every time but at least I've had a little bit of time out from it
22:01while back at the house with the doors now removed Dominic and Steven are taking on the task of bringing
22:14down the wall
22:14it's wobbling now
22:22get over that side Ryan
22:25just go down there
22:26don't let it go totally
22:29just sort of
22:30because it's not as heavy as you think
22:32go on then
22:34yeah
22:35yeah don't get in the way
22:36yeah one
22:38there it is look beautiful
22:53and once the rubble is removed Jasmine's vision of a light filled open plan living space
23:08is really starting to take shape
23:11oh my god
23:12where is everyone
23:15oh my god
23:17that looks amazing
23:20oh my god
23:26that's so worth doing
23:28it looks amazing
23:29I'm not going to start crying
23:31but I feel like I might
23:32it looks amazing
23:35for me so far
23:37that is one of the best
23:39improvements
23:40in this house that we have done
23:43I love it
23:44you alright Dominic?
23:46big enough hole in the wall
23:47it looks amazing
23:49then it's going to be great isn't it
23:50yeah it's really good
23:51it's going to look fantastic
23:52that's one great thing in Spain
23:54that you can just take out
23:55yeah in the UK
23:57you have to have lintels
23:58yeah
23:58all sorts of hassle
24:00it's because of the way they're built
24:01you know here
24:02yeah totally
24:02yeah it's going to look lovely
24:04oh thank you
24:05once it's finished
24:07yeah that'll be fab
24:09having avoided a dusty
24:24and noisy week of demolition
24:26in the kitchen and living room
24:27while abroad for work
24:28John's back for the weekend
24:30and treating the family
24:32to a few hours away
24:33from all the mess
24:34it's Friday night
24:38we have come down to the beach
24:41near our house
24:41for a barbecue
24:42and just to hang out
24:44now that the weather's so beautiful
24:45this is what it's all about
24:47living by the beach
24:48kids how good an investment
24:51was this trolley
24:51yeah
24:52that's brilliant
24:53now we can get even more stuff
24:56to drive to the beach with us
24:58we started doing it
24:59maybe once or twice a month
25:02coming after school
25:03and having a barbecue on the beach
25:04it's amazing
25:06I mean the kids love it
25:07and the reason we moved to Spain
25:09was to give them more outdoor life
25:11so lift the parasol up
25:15there we go
25:16and then put the lever down
25:16there we go
25:19that's great
25:20I mean genuinely
25:22there's a few times
25:23we've done this
25:24that I've had to sort of
25:25pinch myself and go
25:26this is what it's all for
25:28this is
25:29this is it
25:31we've got some really nice Spanish produce
25:35we're going to barbecue some vegetables
25:37and some veggie sausages
25:38can't get any better than this
25:40John loves to do a barbecue
25:42so we'll have our dinner down here
25:44and just chill
25:45happy
25:56mmm this looks so good
25:58one mushroom
26:00oh look there's a hot dog out of nowhere
26:02there you go
26:03thank you
26:03thanks
26:06yummy
26:09what me or the hot dog
26:11the water was absolutely divine
26:36absolutely amazing
26:38I love swimming in the sea
26:41it just makes you feel
26:43that you're part of something
26:45much bigger
26:46to be able to have the opportunity
26:53to just stroll down
26:55five minutes
26:57get in the water
26:58have a barbecue with the kids
27:00just spend time together
27:02it's
27:03this is the dream
27:04this is
27:06what we hoped
27:08life in Spain
27:09would be like
27:10and
27:11once everything's finished
27:12in the house
27:13we don't have to worry
27:13about that anymore
27:14we'll be doing this
27:15all the time
27:17and I'll be able to switch off
27:19without thinking
27:20oh I must order those tiles
27:21or I must make a decision
27:23on that floor
27:24it'll be like this
27:26all the time
27:27that's what I'm hoping
27:29with the demolition
27:48for phase three
27:49now complete
27:50Jasmine is eager
27:51to shift her focus
27:52to the next stage
27:53interior designer
27:55Laura
27:55who previously
27:56visited the property
27:57has been developing ideas
27:59with her team
27:59alongside one of them
28:01Olivia
28:02she's now ready
28:03to present their concepts
28:04hi Laura
28:05hi
28:07hi
28:07how's it all going out there
28:10it's going well
28:11we're standing in our living room now
28:13we're missing a wall
28:14there
28:15ah
28:16fantastic
28:16so that's all gone
28:17that's been taken up
28:18I'm sure it'll all come together soon
28:20but look
28:20we're really excited
28:21to chat to you today
28:22the design team's done
28:24some fantastic work
28:25once we'd explored the layout actions
28:28and reviewed the inspiration images
28:30here we have your final design
28:33oh it looks nice
28:36so there's the table behind the sofa
28:40yeah that looks lovely
28:43so we're talking about the sofa
28:46being across the middle of the room here
28:48so that'll be the living room zone
28:51and then back there
28:52the dining table
28:54it's really nice to do a sort of gallery wall
28:57with art
28:58and collectibles
28:59and bits and pieces
29:00that you know
29:01and actually now that central column
29:04is out in the window
29:05it's going to flood even more light
29:07yeah
29:07great
29:08to be honest
29:08until the last day or two
29:10well I mean
29:11until today
29:12you couldn't really visualise
29:13what this room
29:15space
29:15empty
29:16might look like
29:17but now it is
29:18now that wall
29:19and that window have gone
29:20and now we see the plans
29:21yeah
29:22yeah it's good
29:23oh that is beautiful
29:26I love that colour
29:29it's so nice
29:30it's really good
29:30I think one of the tricks
29:33of painting
29:34the background dark
29:36is the TV
29:37if you do decide
29:38to have one in the room
29:39actually blends into the background
29:41rather than it being
29:42a focal point
29:43which I think
29:44is a really clever
29:45and cost effective trick
29:47yes
29:48looks beautiful
29:49can we just show you
29:50the final floor plan
29:51of it all coming together
29:52at the end
29:53yes please
29:53oh god
29:54I can't wait
29:55for that day
29:55honestly
29:56oh
29:58that looks great
29:59so this is the final
30:01Anna's 80 floor plan
30:02it's amazing
30:03it will look even better
30:06in reality
30:06when it's finished
30:07oh I can't wait
30:09seems like we've got
30:10a mountain to climb
30:11yeah
30:13it will all come together
30:15really quickly
30:16at the end
30:16renovation work
30:17is incredibly stressful
30:19there's always surprises
30:21but it will come together
30:22you just got to have faith
30:23yeah it looks great
30:24thank you so much
30:26you have all been amazing
30:29I could not have done this
30:31without you
30:31and I have got a lot of shopping
30:34to do now
30:35to get everything
30:37to put it all together
30:38but I really
30:41really can't thank you enough
30:43yeah we're kind of drowning
30:45a little bit in stuff
30:46so being able to
30:47have you help us
30:49not drown
30:50and be our lifeguard
30:51is great
30:51thank you so much
30:52it looks amazing
30:54bye
30:54thanks so much
30:56thank you
30:57bye
30:58bye
30:58happy
31:01visualise it
31:03yeah it was good
31:04if it turns out looking half as good as what it looks on those visuals
31:08I'll be ecstatic
31:10it's Monday morning
31:20and there's a day or two of making good and preparation to be done before the huge 11 metre square window frame can be installed
31:27with plenty of people on site to deal with that Jasmine and John are upstairs finishing off another project that's been bubbling away in the background
31:36when we did Joy's bedroom makeover
31:39we sort of held our hands up and we basically ran out of time to do her sun terrace
31:43and yet the footprint of her sun terrace is huge
31:46so we were keen to kind of get it turned around now in time for the summer
31:51finally all the bits that I'd ordered for out there have arrived
31:57and we made some time to assemble everything and put it all together
32:03so while she was at school
32:05so it's great to be able to finally get that ticked off the list
32:10while Jasmine and John already had the outdoor furniture set bought a few weeks ago at a local supermarket for around 500 pounds
32:20amongst other things
32:22they've added a water feature costing 120
32:25as well as an egg chair
32:27and day bed
32:29at around 300 pounds each
32:32it's hot
32:34but
32:36it's done now
32:38it's a bit flimsy
32:41I've got to get a couple of extra screws to put into it
32:44but
32:45you know
32:47it looks alright
32:48it's huge
32:53oh my god
32:56it's giant
32:58so the idea behind Joy's balcony
33:02was to tie it all in with the rainforest theme in her bedroom
33:05so it's not completely rainforest
33:08but there's definitely a few touches
33:11like the rug
33:12and it all connects quite nicely
33:16while it's not matchy matchy
33:18it just works together
33:20and some of the textures in her bedroom
33:23meet some of the textures that are out on her terrace as well
33:26so
33:27I hope she'll like it
33:29keep your eyes closed
33:33step up now
33:34keep coming
33:36don't look up
33:36keep your eyes closed
33:38that terrace
33:40when we first came here to have a look around
33:42the first thing that hit you was the smell
33:44look at this
33:45it was like rotting drains
33:54it was disgusting
33:55there was
33:57a dilapidated hot tub
34:00that was full of green slime
34:02and mosquito lava
34:04and
34:05yeah it was hideous
34:07it made me gag
34:08is he actually throwing up?
34:13I don't know
34:13I mean it is quite gross
34:15okay
34:16you can open your eyes
34:17what do you think?
34:30I knew she'd go straight to the egg chair
34:32is that what you've been wanting?
34:40yes
34:40do you like it Joy?
34:43it's the least good as the bedroom
34:44oh
34:45no wait
34:47change my mind
34:48it's better than the bedroom
34:49this is great
34:50oh she looks so happy
34:52now you've got your ultimate reading corner
34:57now
34:59that terrace is possibly one of the most inviting areas of our home
35:06you know thanks to all the help from Laura and her team
35:09because they sourced all the bits and came up with the concept
35:13which works so nicely with Joy's bedroom
35:16they will interconnect
35:18so I'm really happy with it
35:20how do you like the rug?
35:23it's so pretty
35:24what about your day bed?
35:27can I join you?
35:30and if it's like super sunny
35:32you can pull your little curtains Joy
35:35this is relaxing
35:37it's like you've got your own living room outdoors
35:40yeah it's so cool
35:42hmm this is nice
35:43might end up actually sleeping out here Joy
35:46what about you?
35:48you might
35:48you can set yourself something up on the roof terrace
35:51this is my balcony
35:53oh it's lovely
35:54if I had something like that when I was 11 years old
36:00I would have thought all my Christmases had come at once
36:03really pleased with how that's turned out
36:06and now I can tick another thing off my list
36:08which means on to the next big thing
36:10since breaking his leg in two places playing paddle
36:27John's had several checkups at the hospital
36:29including one today
36:31the doctor's just given me the all clear
36:35I don't have to come back
36:37the bone is 100% healed
36:39and I can play sport again
36:41it is
36:43I mean genuinely when he told me
36:46I nearly started crying
36:49it feels like it's been a really long five months
36:54what with everything else
36:56but hearing the news that
36:58I don't have to come back
36:59I don't need another x-ray
37:00and my leg is
37:01the bone is healed
37:02his words the bone is good
37:03you can play sport again
37:05great news
37:08despite that momentous moment for John
37:16back on site
37:17Jasmine has little time to pause and celebrate
37:20as there's plenty to get on with
37:22there's so much work going on at the moment
37:25everywhere
37:26loads of people here working today
37:29trying to get as much done
37:31in as short a space of time as possible
37:34what's happening at the moment in the kitchen
37:36is all the preparation
37:38for floor, ceiling, plumbing, electrics, plastering
37:46we're going to have a little bit of a false wall on that side
37:50as you can see
37:52it's not quite ready yet
37:54but fingers crossed it will be very soon
37:57over at the other end of the room
38:02preparations are being made to install the large frame
38:05that will house the four glass doors to the terrace
38:08it's a tricky job
38:11the opening needs to be exactly the right size
38:14and straight and level all round
38:16over the course of the day
38:19plenty of progress is made
38:20with many hands on site
38:22but by the evening
38:23they've run out of time to install the doors
38:26the idea was to only take this wall out
38:32when the window or the doors to go in there had arrived
38:39which they have arrived
38:41I think there was a little bit of an oversight
38:43with installing it
38:45because we need that marble step
38:47before we can install it
38:50so the marble company are rushing it through for us
38:53but obviously we still have to wait a little while
38:59but yeah
39:00I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep with this like this
39:04the next morning
39:15by the time Dominic makes it to site
39:17the marble step is sorted
39:19the frame installed
39:20and the door slotted in
39:22but there's a problem
39:24the two big doors never hit
39:26they locked to each other didn't they
39:27and nothing else
39:28the two big doors locked to each other
39:30yeah
39:31is the frame the wrong way around
39:37the frame's the wrong way around isn't it
39:39yeah
39:39got to be there
39:40the frame is in the wrong way around
39:42which is a pain in the butt
39:46well to make it work with this
39:49it's got to go around the other way
39:50we need to take these doors out
39:53and then flip the frame round
39:55which is not hard
39:56and then
39:56it's the time we've lost
39:59it's not a hard job
40:01it's just the time
40:02but we better get on with it
40:04yeah before we
40:05let's triple check this
40:06before we move it
40:07hold on
40:09hold on
40:10now this one
40:14turned round
40:15would lock in here
40:16and that tooth would be there
40:19but your handle would go on the outside
40:21wouldn't they
40:21got you
40:22yeah
40:23it's definitely wrong
40:24it's definitely flip it
40:27come on
40:28who's the strongest
40:30the four two and a half metre doors weighing nearly half a ton in total
40:36are shifted once again
40:37that's it on there
40:40beautiful
40:42slide it along
40:44this is
40:46use your brains here
40:47not your muscle
40:48go on that's it
40:53beautiful
40:53perfect
40:55take that out Steve
40:58and turn it round
40:58the team remove
41:02flip
41:03and reinstall the frame
41:05round you go
41:07go on mate
41:08a bit further
41:08oh
41:09go on mate
41:10yeah
41:10watch that
41:12chandelier
41:13that's all mate
41:14go to you
41:15I love doing things twice
41:20if construction was easy
41:26everybody would be doing it
41:27despite that slight miscalculation
41:33progress is being made
41:34while Jasmine's left without doors for another evening
41:38the next step is to install them
41:40hopefully this will be our last night
41:43without having a wall or a door
41:46um
41:48yeah
41:50not ideal
41:53I'll just let one thing to be finished
41:57anything
41:58just one bit
41:59that I could take off my list
42:00ugh
42:02the next morning
42:16Jasmine gets her wish
42:17as after a couple of hours of work
42:20okay
42:21ooh
42:22new wind is in
42:23finalmente
42:25they're in
42:27oh my gosh
42:29long time coming
42:29it looks great
42:31but
42:31the house
42:32is secure
42:33there you go
42:35they look really nice
42:37yeah it was a good shout
42:38the whole room
42:39it just opens up everything
42:41doesn't it
42:41so it's lovely
42:42it's great
42:42a little bit of plaster
42:44a little bit of
42:45yeah
42:45little kitchen
42:46only a few little tiny things left to do
42:49that's it
42:49yeah they were fun
42:50because
42:51they're like
42:52120 kilos a piece
42:54so
42:55what each piece
42:57yeah each glass bit
42:58it's protected glass
43:01isn't it
43:01so you can't go straight through it
43:02oh yeah
43:03that's a good point
43:04it's proper gear
43:04you know what I mean
43:05so
43:05that's why they're so heavy
43:07it's also the solar
43:08yeah
43:09glass isn't it
43:10they look really nice
43:11I think it's
43:12that is probably one of the biggest transformations
43:15isn't it
43:15of the whole renovation
43:17is to open up that whole wall
43:19and the sound rating on them
43:21is way higher than you used to have
43:23you know
43:23looks really lovely
43:25the previous ones were single glazed
43:27and obviously because they had all that leading as well
43:30yeah
43:30you just didn't get a nice aspect outside
43:32good I can tick something off like this
43:34psychological that is
43:35you're all right now
43:36it is very much psychological
43:37that's great
43:39all right well thank you so much
43:40that's cool
43:41I'll chat to you in a bit
43:42yeah yeah no problem
43:43I think it actually
43:45completely transforms that space
43:48because when you walk in through the front door
43:50you can already see
43:52straight out to the back
43:53you can see the greenery
43:55you feel like
43:57you know
43:57it's just inviting
43:59so I think it is
44:01definitely worth having done that
44:04and I think having that whole wall of glass
44:06is going to be lovely
44:08living in the basement
44:15it's been really hard
44:17getting it finally finished
44:18and looking amazing
44:20it's going to be superb
44:22it's really important
44:24that Jaz and I
44:25try and grab
44:26little windows of time together
44:27when we can
44:28my dad would probably
44:31flip his lid if he saw this
44:32he's very much a perfectionist
44:35don't turn too early
44:39it's looking amazing isn't it
44:45good
44:46never in my wildest dreams
44:48did I ever think that something like this
44:50would be a reality
44:51anything
45:19You
