00:00Police interceptors are all I for.
00:02I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:04And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:07Speed one, two, zero.
00:10Ace Pursuit drivers.
00:12Contact, contact, contact.
00:14With air support.
00:16Got two out, stand by.
00:18And a crack dog unit.
00:20If you leave, you will get bit.
00:24They bring down the bad guys.
00:26I believe you'll want it, mate.
00:28Keep the streets safe.
00:32Get on the floor.
00:34And battle 24-7.
00:36Get down on the floor.
00:38In the war on crime.
00:40Crash, crash.
00:42I just don't know.
00:44This is what it is, isn't it? We find them, we lock them up.
00:48Coming up.
00:50A slippery customer in Corby.
00:52Vehicles here. Crash, crash, crash.
00:54Throws up a few problems.
00:56I feel sick. I'm going to be sick.
00:58Please, please.
01:00A smash.
01:02A bash.
01:04Reveals the stash to the Op Revive team.
01:06Well, that's quite a piece of grudge.
01:08When suspected burglars bail out, Lucy and Bryn go to work.
01:12It's the last gasp of Monday and Aaron Griff Griffiths is on the hunt for a silver golf.
01:34Got it.
01:36I think.
01:386-1. I might have got it in the Corby old village, standby.
01:42The golf's been seen previously in another county, with balaclava-clad figures on board, who are suspected of numerous car thefts.
01:52I'm unmarked.
01:54Very slow driving.
01:56Standby.
01:58Griff's in the unmarked Beamer 340, so anyone in the golf won't know there's an interceptor on their tail.
02:04Sound the occupants.
02:08I think it's two.
02:10And he can direct the cavalry without spooking the suspect.
02:14It's not aware of my presence.
02:16We're caught in a mode out of the old village.
02:20I'm not going to make an attempt to stop it.
02:22We'll wait for TPAC mobiles and other resources.
02:24The plan is to box the golf and two TPAC units arrive.
02:30I will take over from you, mate.
02:32I'll take you through this roundabout.
02:34I've got you.
02:36I'll take you through this roundabout.
02:38I'll take you through this roundabout.
02:42With James and Locky taking over as the lead car and a firearms unit behind them.
02:50Offside indication.
02:52And it's right, right, right.
02:54Against the road.
02:56Griff plans his next move.
03:02I'm supposed to have to get ahead of it, but I think I can.
03:06As well as being an advanced driver, Griff's stinger trained.
03:10And he's going to lay down a bed of spikes for the golf.
03:14Going back towards Turner Road in that direction anyway.
03:18Try to get a stinger out. Standby.
03:19It's all about predicting the suspect's route.
03:29At the junction, wait.
03:31But unfortunately, the golf's driver hasn't read the script.
03:35Vehicle's increased its speed slightly.
03:39Wrong side.
03:40I'm going to assume it's better aware of your presence now.
03:43Yeah, okay, so the vehicle is now going to stop, going to stop.
03:47That way. That way.
03:49The golf's taken off and the pursuit is on.
03:53It's going that way.
03:55Speed five, four.
03:57And it's pretty low. Approaching to Oakley Road. Wait.
04:01As Griff plays catch up.
04:03Right, right, right. Up to Oakley Road.
04:05In the lead car, James and Rocky are all over the runaway.
04:13Yeah, speed five, four.
04:15Risk is low.
04:17Risk is low.
04:19The suspect driver's not exactly Lewis Hamilton.
04:23Speed is low. Standby.
04:25And it's left, left, left. Cecil Drive.
04:27But the roads are too tight to box him in.
04:30Stinging his tyres is still their best bet, if they can pull it on.
04:34I reckon you've got to sting a bit.
04:39Though who needs tactics when your target's driving is this bad?
04:43Vehicle's here. Crash, crash, crash.
04:51The passengers legged it, but Locky goes for the driver.
04:54Right, right, right.
04:55Out the car, out the car now.
04:56Hey, all right.
04:57Who's a bit of a change from your typical boy racer.
05:00All right, all right. Listen, I get it, I get it.
05:04Oh, all right.
05:06Right, OK. Oh, my God. Do you have to do this?
05:08Yes.
05:09Spoken in time.
05:10No, I didn't know what to do.
05:12Please.
05:13Spoken in time, you're under arrested.
05:14Phone in to stop. Give me either a hand.
05:15Oh, I didn't know she wanted it. Sorry.
05:19Phone in to stop.
05:20Wait, wait, no, you don't get it. Wait, please.
05:22Who's that? Who's that?
05:24Who's that? What's his name?
05:26He asked me to... No, he asked me to let him in the car.
05:28I don't get it. This is my friend's car.
05:29What's his name?
05:30I don't know.
05:31Sure you don't?
05:32No, I don't know.
05:33Listen, trust me, please.
05:34I'm actually being serious.
05:35He asked me for help, yeah?
05:37I can let him in the car.
05:39This is my friend's car, please.
05:41This is my friend's car.
05:42I feel sick.
05:43I'm going to be sick.
05:44Wait, please.
05:47Perhaps a car sickness was caused by the low speed skid.
05:53And while they deal with the driver...
05:55Which way?
05:56Griff keeps his eyes peeled for the passenger.
06:01But he's done one in the dark.
06:05He's gone into a field, a play park, on a pedal cycle.
06:11He's long run.
06:12So he heads for the stacked golf.
06:14You OK?
06:15You good?
06:16You good?
06:17Yeah, yeah, we're good.
06:18She's in custom just to search the vehicle now.
06:22The intel on the car seems spot on.
06:26Passenger side.
06:28Tuck down the side of the seat.
06:33Got a black balaclava.
06:37So we've got balaclavas.
06:39We've got a tool at the moment.
06:40A little bit of cannabis, bank card.
06:42So that's just from this front area here at the moment.
06:45Slowly clearing our way through the vehicle.
06:49And see what else we can find.
06:51With cannabis in the car,
06:52they're going to do a drugs wipe on the driver.
06:56And they suspect she's under the influence of more than weed.
07:01Her purse down the driver's side.
07:04Sorry?
07:05Her purse down the driver's side.
07:07Got that inside.
07:08OK.
07:10It's a small bag of white powder.
07:12I hope you get some evidence bags.
07:15You might need a few of those.
07:17What's that?
07:23Ah, it's a crack, isn't it?
07:27Yeah.
07:28The car is like a dodgy Aladdin's cave.
07:30I think we'll have a fence of weapon in her bag as well.
07:32What's that?
07:33Is that a ball in a sock?
07:34Yeah.
07:35Prison style, that, isn't it?
07:36That's in her handbag.
07:38I'm guessing a pool ball.
07:40Looking at that, looks like it's the sort of size for a pool ball in a sock.
07:43Lockie's seen most things in his interceptor career, but not this.
07:4918 years in the job and you hear stories, but I've never come across a pool ball in a sock before.
07:54She's already been arrested for failing to stop, and the charges are starting to stack up.
08:03You're now being further arrested for dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, possession of class A, possession of class B, and possession of an offensive weapon at this time.
08:15So on the floor, we found this, which is, I'd suspect to be crack cocaine.
08:23You see it's quite shiny, and it's in rock form.
08:26That was found on the floor there, obviously next to the vehicle, and then inside the purse of the subject's been arrested.
08:32Got two, an empty bag, and a bag that's still got powder form substance, which I'd suspect to be cocaine, or could be amphetamine.
08:41And that's been found in the, in the purse.
08:44Still two, three, you still crack it?
08:45Yeah, yeah, pot with quite a few buds of cannabis in.
08:50The drug's wipe result comes as no surprise.
08:54Cannabis and cocaine.
08:58The also under arrest in the section of 5A of the road traffic, driving a motor vehicle over the prescribed limits of cannabis and cocaine.
09:07The young suspect will have plenty to think about during her night in the cells.
09:11And it's a welcome, if slightly unexpected, result for the team.
09:15Really tiny little girl.
09:18Yeah, it was a bit of a surprise.
09:20I think she was surprised to see us as well, judged by her reaction when we first got there and started dragging her out of the car.
09:24The male didn't want to hang around and speak to us, so there's enquiries ongoing as to who he is.
09:29But she's, she's got a lot of questions to answer in the morning.
09:32The driver pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and having no license or insurance.
09:39She received 12 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months and a 12 month driving ban.
09:44No further action was taken with regards to failing to stop, possession of drugs, the offensive weapon or the alleged car thefts.
09:54However, for drug driving, she was banned for a further 20 months.
09:58The passenger is still a wanted man.
10:10Coming up.
10:11Five men went to mow down a cannabis farm.
10:13They're ready to pretty much harvest a couple of weeks.
10:16Alright, what do you want?
10:17What are you?
10:18No way for you.
10:19What do you want?
10:20And Lucy's faithful hound Bryn.
10:21Stay where you are now.
10:22Stay where you are.
10:23You've got me and hold him.

11:15is just looking after these cannabis forms intelligence suggests there's
11:22cannabis grows at two addresses in rushton the neighborhood's team are
11:27tackling one and the operation revive unit including connor and brad are
11:33heading to the other so we go in and we see obviously hopefully lots of rooms
11:41cannabis uh one room where they live in which will probably have a farmer who's normally
11:48an illegal immigrant or someone who's been exploited inside they'll probably be there so
11:52they can be unpredictable because they get told all sorts of rumors about the police that when we
11:56go in we'll kill them or subject to serious violence and whether so that they can be very unpredictable
12:03but it's not only angry farmers the team have to be on their guard for
12:07we know that the ocgs that use these addresses will sometimes place electric wires so that we
12:13can get caught on them or spikes needles trapdoors they can get very creative so
12:21unlike our normal drugs where we run in and get hands on people very quickly
12:26once you're in we're going to go in a bit slower today and just watch where we're going
12:29last year's nationwide crackdown saw northamptonshire coppers carry out 21 search warrants on suspected
12:38weed farms and sees more than 5 000 cannabis plants and though the team can't be sure the intel
12:46on this property is accurate it smells promising yeah stinks of weed we got hooli bar then yeah
12:53they use the hooli bar first to remove the glass for their own safety
13:09glass cleared they unleash the 16 kilo key that unlocks every door
13:15although this one's proving a tough nut to crack
13:26finally slow slow slow slow slow
13:30police police they enter with caution in case of booby traps i've got five real police
13:39one in the address gone back inside yeah that yeah someone inside tried to make a run for it
13:45police come to the door but the team has the rear covered and the runaway knows the game is up
13:51now turn around turn around turn around hands beyond your back hands beyond your back
14:00right at the minute you're detained on the section 23 of the misuse of drugs act
14:03adam upstairs okay come this way police this could be the farmer and the search is on for any others
14:12check that room police show yourself please
14:21right how do you want to go check that door first check that room i'll stay out here
14:27doesn't look like there's anyone else home
14:30police show yourself but they're still concerned about any nasty surprises don't touch the door handle
14:36yet satisfied it's safe they draw back the curtain on this outfit
14:45this isn't just a bit of homegrown
14:49it's fine
14:49uh check there and it's not just one room
14:58this whole house has been converted into a sophisticated cannabis farm
15:03downstairs it's one huge grow in the living room on the top floor we've got three bedrooms full
15:09um of cannabis grows all mature plants and then the loft is also covered um well our forensic photo
15:16has been taken of everything uh we'll see some of the plants um and then we'll put it all for
15:22questioning to the chap we've rested downstairs and then the cannabis will completely be removed from
15:27the property they nip this in the bud just in time oh that's quite a decent grow right lengthwise
15:35they're ready to pretty much harvest a couple of weeks they're ready to be going it's not
15:42very very shortly the property wasn't booby trapped but connor's found something else potentially
15:48meant for unexpected visitors big stick there's not much to it it was down by the side of the bed
15:57so he's obviously kept it there in case someone's coming in that he doesn't want to
15:59have come in but today he decided to try and run away instead of beat us over the head with it
16:07as well as the weapon they've discovered some revealing documents oh i like this you've got an
16:12ice 91 detention paperwork it seems the suspect is awaiting a decision from immigration on whether
16:19he'll be allowed to stay in the country so it looks like that he was given paperwork directing
16:24directed him to stay at a place called the atrium hotel so it's quite possible that he's been
16:29contacted by yeah well been contacted by um other members of the same community um and basically been
16:39enticed from that hotel to work in in a cannabis farm the time's 9 50 under arrest for cultivation
16:44of cannabis don't have to say anything but may i mean defense do not mention one question
16:47something which you later on call anything you do say maybe given an evidence most of the crop will
16:51be destroyed but a few plants are bagged up for analysis so they'll go to drug experts
17:01in a different station who would then weigh it uh and then they do various tests and all sorts to
17:08work out what they think it weighs how much it'll be worth and then that would then be submitted to
17:14the courts give an idea of how much this operation was worth to them
17:17although maths wasn't connor's favorite subject at school he's a dab hand at totting up the value of
17:25a major weed farm if they get like say three or four crops in a year and they're getting 150 200 plus
17:33plants in each one and it's got a rough street value of a grander plant you know you are getting into
17:39the millions you know it's got going over a period of time and they won't have just one they'll have
17:44you know in a couple towns in the area they might have you know sweet five and ten on to go at any
17:51one time it's a massive operation
17:57but not everyone will be sharing in the profits with the farmer likely at the bottom of the pile
18:03well he's already told us that he's coming off a boat from the channel um and that he's been asked
18:09couldn't find work so he's potentially being exploited into doing this so this is as much
18:15as safe about safeguarding him as it is getting this to not be allowed on the street
18:23the farmer of weed house pleaded guilty to growing the cannabis and was sent down for 12 months at his
18:29majesty's pleasure a total of 200 plants with a street value of 140 grand were destroyed
18:36the north hamptonshire force has 15 dog handlers including lucy sculthorpe who's on training duty
18:45today with four-year-old german shepherd brin
18:53one of the force's top trackers brin sniffed out a rogues gallery in the line of duty but even master
18:59crime fighters need regular practice drawing the short straw this morning and playing a hidden
19:07suspect is sean an instructor from the dog unit some suspects especially those on drink or drugs
19:15think they can take on a police dog they quickly learn that they can't
19:18get away from the dog get away from me stay where you are stay where you are now stay where you are
19:35man versus dog is usually a one-sided fight
19:37yeah okay okay good boy good lad most bad guys forego the fists and make good with their legs
19:55all right you're in the bushes stay where you are stay where you are hold him usually with a similar
20:01result
20:09brin's favorite snack is chicken feet but he'll make do with some padded arm
20:16stop fighting with the dog
20:19brin out good boy training course complete good lad yes clever boy real life action beckons good boy
20:31it's late night in wellingborough and the dynamic duo are after a pair of suspected burglars
20:37failing to stop in a stolen van road conditions are bad visibility is poor
20:43and the suspects driving as as ropey as the weather
20:53cutting through the rain at more than twice the speed limit he's running on borrowed time
20:57and the inevitable is just around the corner
21:06two men out and running go go go
21:11as the cavalry rolls in the runners disappear into the woods
21:15they might have a head start but lucy and brin are up for the challenge
21:27you all right
21:29one of them's got reflective clothing on as well so don't
21:32mate trust me brin will find them yeah the fleeing suspects will have left scent trails as they
21:38clambered through trees and vegetation to brin's fine which who knows it's a trail of bad guy breadcrumbs
21:44and the hunt is off yes i'm checking stand by it's tough going but a few brambles
21:54and a bit of water aren't going to stop them
22:00they emerge from the woods into a field next to some houses and lucy updates the team with their
22:05progress
22:16with a sense of smell 10 000 times more sensitive than the humans brin's homing in like a scent guided
22:23missile yeah yeah yeah we're going
22:26after 25 minutes of tracking brin follows his nose to a back garden that seems deserted
22:36but the dog knows otherwise and leads lucy to some garden furniture covered by a tarpaulin
22:46police police the dog come out now come out now do you understand you've got bitten by the dog
22:54right the dog's on the lead come out slowly
22:59right my colleague's gonna come in with no dog if you make any sudden movements the dog will bite you
23:06do you understand right my colleague's gonna come in under under the garden furniture hours of
23:14training have paid off and brin has his man who was cowering under the tarp
23:20good boy brin wait watch him the suspect sensibly surrenders and it looks like brin will be getting
23:26his chicken feet tonight good laugh good boy brin's undercover runaway turned out to be the passenger
23:37from the van he was found guilty of an unrelated offense of causing gbh and was banged up for two
23:43years forensics identified the driver who pleaded guilty to gbh and dangerous driving no action was
23:51taken against either of them for burglary or vehicle theft a good night's work and dogged determination
24:01coming up good morning can you get out no you can't get out there's no escape for a drink driver
24:08hello hello and dave and callum blind sick deal with a bloke in a hurry he's being pursued yeah all over
24:19the shop according to the uk government more than 28 000 people a year are convicted of drink driving
24:40and the interceptors know only too well that drivers who are over the limit are an unpredictable breed
24:45sometimes it can be aggressive obviously we're prepared to deal with that if it is the case they
24:51don't want to be caught i understand that there are no implications of what's going to happen if they
24:55do get caught driving um get people that accept it for what it is and are apologetic and genuinely are
25:03a morsel with it um unfortunately still get dealt with the same way um and you do we had people last
25:08week that just don't seem to care or understand the issues with it but then we see it firsthand on the
25:15roads what what the implications of drink driving can be um and the collisions that can occur because of it
25:27the wee small hours after saturday night are prime time for drink drivers
25:31and as bomber and rob make their way to an rtc in kettering they have low expectations of what awaits
25:38there's been a report of a collision uh whereby a little red courser
25:50has collided with a vmw uh but caller suspects that the driver of the course i might be under the
25:56influence of alcohol with the suspected drink driver potentially trying to flee bomber's not hanging
26:10about that's one way she's calling out karen's road yeah oh there she is
26:22rob sums up the scene oh dear
26:28the car's wedged facing the wrong way down a one-way street with the driver at the wheel
26:33good morning can you get out no you can't get out i don't know hello hello
26:45what's happened right so basically i've been here right trying to get into my car right
26:53and that's happened that's that's just happened does it makes perfect sense um why don't you come
26:58and join me in the back of my car for the time being and then we'll start going through getting
27:02your car sorted where are your keys where the keys for the car yeah take them so go on this side the
27:11best place for this wobbly suspect and watch yourself there is in the back of a police car
27:20i've got my breath box ready fine i was going to say if you'd give me a minute i could have got that
27:24out your way having been quite chatty she's now gone all shy
27:29she doesn't want to speak to me now interesting but the onlookers are happy to talk
27:39who's has anyone seen what's happened you've all heard it
27:45according to witnesses the lady has been trying to reverse her courser out for about 30 minutes
27:51bomber does some digging what's your name are you joking no what's your name is that a joke no what
28:00is your name i'm not telling you right now no one's joking here around 260 people are killed each year
28:08as a result of drink driving and bomber is deadly serious i suspect that you're you've been drinking
28:16i need you to provide a sample if you don't provide one though you'll be arrested you know that don't
28:23you yeah
28:27failing to provide without a reasonable excuse is treated as severely as being caught driving over
28:33the limit what is your name sorry hello and failing to talk isn't going to help her either phone to
28:42the tube tip please until i tell you to stop no thanks you're not you're refusing yeah okay you're
28:48under arrest on suspicion of failing to provide for a spot sample of breath for analysis okay you don't
28:55have to say anything but it may help your defense if do not mention when questioned something later
28:59lying in court anything you do say may be given evidence okay right
29:08that was simple she's just failed to provide
29:12romeo papa one four another unit will recover the car
29:17and bomber seems to be making some progress
29:22okay well you have you're under arrest now
29:26for failing to provide a suitable sample
29:32okay right jump in the car please
29:39bomber's been on the force for nearly 20 years and has zero tolerance for drink drivers
29:45but he's giving her one last chance
29:47right i can do this again do you want to provide a sample of breath you're going to be arrested anyway
29:56no okay fair enough this chatterbox is off for a trip to the nick
30:00because i suspect that you drink driving to blow on the evidential breath test machine what's your surname
30:09but there's still a wall of silence
30:12come on then we'll go and speak to the skipper
30:16sergeant he's through here perhaps you'll open up to the sarge
30:21same desk this one this way around
30:25then we're just going into here so if you want to just stand up in front of where this gap is that'd be
30:28ideal that's it i'll do i don't have to do this you do you do you do because it's part of the
30:35book an improved process okay we'll leave the handcuffs on now face the desk and speak to the
30:43sergeant it's a simple request act like an adult
30:51but it looks like this drink driver doesn't want to turn around
30:56okay i require you to provide two specimens of breath for analysis
31:00by means of an approved device this is really important okay you need to listen to this
31:07i warn you that failure to provide either of these specimens
31:11will render you liable to a prosecution
31:14do you agree to provide two specimens of breath for analysis
31:19has she been saving her breath for the evidential test machine
31:23so do you agree to provide two specimens of breath for analysis
31:28does it look like it okay right that's fine then there's no point trying to
31:35drag this on longer than it needs to be
31:41good effort but not the right one we don't know how drunk she is but i suspect she's going to be
31:47well over the drink drive limit um and so she's been put into the cell she'll spend the night
31:53there then in the morning uh we'll stick an interview on her but ultimately she's going to be
31:58charged with failing to provide and she'll go to court and she'll face a disqualification so um
32:05whether you decide to provide an example or not it she's going to lose her driving license either way so
32:15little miss silent found her voice and pleaded guilty for failing to provide
32:19she was banned for 18 months and ordered to pay 439 pounds in fines
32:29another major contributor to road accidents in the uk is speeding
32:33we're at 114 115 it not only raises the likelihood of a collision speed 110 no traffic no pedestrians
32:44it also increases the chances of you being killed or seriously injured as a result
32:49our speeds 130 that's just a long yes and interceptors have little sympathy for the speed demons
32:58i think it's just selfish really it's a little bit like drink driving isn't it people do it because
33:04they think they'll get away with it and they think there won't be any consequences there's no real
33:11need for it you know it's shown that speeding by even like 10 20 miles an hour doesn't really make
33:20that much difference to your journey time and so there's no point you put yourself and others at
33:25quite a lot more risk for not really any any benefit
33:40interceptor dave lee and calamar in the unmarked xc90 with eyes on a nippy ford focus st line
33:48he's got my interest because he's right at the chuff of that beamer
33:51and obviously knowing that he's got no plates number plates on might make him think that he can
33:58drive like a buffoon the tailgating driver has trade plates which allow those in the motor trade
34:05to temporarily drive vehicles without having to register them and actually if he's delivered
34:11that to a customer if that was my car i wouldn't be very happy
34:14and dave's not happy with the blokes driving well i've certainly got 19 flocked at 90.
34:24okay it's just raring up behind stuff isn't it
34:2996. exceeding the speed limit was estimated to be a contributory factor in 27 percent of uk road
34:38deaths last year aggressive driving at these speeds is a recipe for disaster
34:44he's bullying people out of the way isn't he he is ain't he
34:47nothing smooth about his driving either no there isn't it's all very you know erratic yeah
34:52he's heading for points on his license and it's all been pointless
34:57you know look he's taking off again why because the traffic lights are red
35:00he's being pursued yeah all over the shop the driver's clearly unaware of the unmarked car tailing
35:11him so 70 and a boy 71. it's time to pull him over but there's no need oh happy days as he's pulled
35:22into a dealership thankfully in one piece and the penny's dropped well as now because i've put all the
35:28blue lights on so
35:36hello driver because i need to speak to you about a traffic offense i'm going to caution you so you
35:41do not have to say anything but it may harm me defensive if you do not mention my question
35:45something which you later align in court anything you do say may be given in evidence do you know
35:49why i'm stopped to speak to you now i think yes why why am i talking to you maybe i'm speed fast
35:58uh driving fast or what maybe is that a maybe or are you i think you are are you in any rush to get
36:07anywhere no no okay have you got your driving license with you please
36:13speeding at over 66 miles per hour in a 40 could mean six penalty points and it looks like he's just the
36:20wrong side so we've got you at 67 miles an hour in a 40. you've also been driving up the back side of
36:30everyone else and trying to push them out the way bully your way through traffic swerving in and out of
36:35lanes i know this is this your job possibly not for much longer the dealership were equally concerned
36:46obviously this is a you know customer's car uh and a bit upset with the way that it was it was being
36:51driven but that sort of driving's not not acceptable um whether that's how he normally drives or whether
36:57because there's no number plates on it there would be no you know consequence he might feel a bit immune
37:03to traffic offenses i don't i don't know um but either way hopefully this might change his manner of
37:10driving and if it changes it and it makes it a little bit better then you know we've done our job
37:15so you're free to go and drive safe okay okay that's okay thank you very much all good
37:24speedy was reported for driving without due care and attention his fate rests with the criminal justice
37:30unit
37:34still to come see the double yellow lines if you want a zigzag line you can't park the zigzag lines
37:39oh i'm through you wait all episode for a zigzag line offense stay there i'll give you a bit of paper
37:45and then two come along in the same story he's got some materials give me your parts on zigzag lines i can't
37:52park anywhere
38:01some of the lesser known highway code rules include fitting a sat-nav to the wrong part of
38:10your windscreen not sleeping in your car under the influence of alcohol and beeping your horn when
38:17stationary but michael hollowell is thinking about rule 191 not parking on a zigzag line leading off a
38:25pedestrian crossing like the driver of the hyundai and there he is the bloke makes a half-hearted dash
38:32for it excuse me hello but it's not exactly the great escape
38:39on the pavement shut your door shut your door
38:43come over here
38:45right you've gone into the shop yes my baby my baby speak is he's he's hungry
38:52see the double yellow lines you're on a zigzag line you can't park on zigzag lines
38:57the reason you can't park there is to avoid blocking the view of pedestrians using the crossing
39:03and michael leads by example do me a favor i want you to drive off the zigzag lines yeah yeah i want
39:09i want you to drive because i don't want to park on zigzag lines so if you park down behind that voxel
39:14i'll pull down behind you no yes all right do not drive off or else you'll be in my bad books
39:20michael's top policing peeve is this offense so he's got some recommended reading material for the
39:26driver who turns out to be from romania have you read the the highway code well sorry i'm not speaking
39:36you have no idea what the highway code is have you really if you've come from a foreign country and
39:41you want to drive on our roads you really need to be reading the highway code and something else
39:46you need to drive here insurance what insurance have you got on the vehicle sorry do you have any
39:53insurance yesterday my my my car insurance insurance no insurance the driver's knowledge of uk road laws
40:04more pretty police is as good as his english so he phones for some family assistance
40:09that's your is that your partner my sister your sister yes does she speak english yeah i speak english
40:16yeah hello hello good afternoon what good morning what's going on please hello um your um your brother
40:23yeah can you let him know that he's going to be reported for driving the vehicle with no insurance
40:27and also the vehicle is going to be seized please sir he's going to make the insurance don't do that
40:33no no no we will be taking the vehicle away so um just just let just let him know while i fill in
40:40the paperwork michael still needs to caution the driver but the bloke's sister has had to go
40:48anybody else that speaks english that you know no i speak my friend okay luckily his mate is on hand
40:57uh hello hello how are you to translate for him nice one that's ideal so i'll do it in bits and
41:04pieces all right so he's being reported for the consideration of the question do that bit first
41:13okay so he's being reported for the consideration of the question
41:17what does mean that do you want me to find it so you can read it to him
41:22and if you've ever wanted to know what zigzag is in romanian pay attention
41:27the offenses are number one parking on zigzag lines
41:35and no insurance okay all right yeah does he want to make any reply no well ask him
41:49okay don't don't don't say no for him we're not going to ask him he's him not you i'm reporting
41:53there's one more bit of bad news for michael to deliver what's that this is for the property that
41:59you've taken from the vehicle you take the car i'm taking the car yeah sir no please yeah car has to
42:05come with me i need to make the insurance for him no but there's no insurance on the car yes i make now
42:10sir you can't and i make the insurance now no car comes with me that's it the car's off to the pound
42:17stay there i'll give you a bit of paper and michael's off to see another dodgy parker
42:25driver pulling behind my police car for me
42:30it seems this place is a bit of a zigzag offense hot spot
42:35just dropped some materials yeah but you parked on zigzag lines i can't park anywhere well i'd rather
42:41you park on double yellers and the zigzag lines of crossing so stay where you you are joking me i
42:47mean well yeah you're a man you're a man of an age that you know what zigzag lines mean you cannot
42:51no one passes zigzag ones though well however heavy they may be yeah you don't park those
42:56zigzag lines right so i've reported this chap was parking on them so unfortunately you're going to get
43:00one too so stay put until i finish with him michael zigzags from one job okay i'll leave you with it
43:09thanks a lot to another so when you pulled into park did you not see the lovely blue lights of my
43:18police car i did that's why i didn't want to park in the bus so i pulled up there just dropped some
43:23lead which is heavy i couldn't pull down the other street because they all parked up
43:30yeah well a few seconds is too much on zigzag lines well there's no need for a translator this
43:36time so you're going to be reported for the consideration of the question because you're
43:40the prosecutor for the one offense that's parking on the zigzag lines of a crossing you don't say
43:45anything but it may harm your defense do mention now since later on according to you do say may be
43:48evidence do you want to make any comments no no well no yeah i mean you can say what you like really
43:55but it's sure it's your choice where you want to say something but uh don't worry about it and the moral
44:00of the story you've only got to look at the highway code it says you can't do it the man with the ban
44:07was reported for parking on a pelican crossing and attended a what driving us course the romanian
44:13driver went to court and was convicted of parking on a zigzag and driving without insurance he was
44:18fined a total of 1322 pounds and received six points on his license
44:23there's no excuse to park on zigzag lines why would you need to park directly outside a shop
44:31and run into the shop and then run back to your car when you could park 10 meters 15 meters down the road
44:53so
45:06you
