00:00Police intercept is a rule I for.
00:02I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:04And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:07Speed one, two, zero.
00:10Ace Pursuit drivers.
00:12Contact, contact, contact.
00:14With air support.
00:15Got two out, standby.
00:17I'm out!
00:18And a crack dog unit.
00:20If you leave, you will get bit.
00:23They bring down the bad guys.
00:26I believe you'll want it, mate.
00:28Keep the streets safe.
00:31Put your arms behind your back.
00:33Death on the floor.
00:34And battle 24-7.
00:37Get down on the floor.
00:39In the war on crime.
00:41Crash, crash.
00:42I just don't know.
00:44It's what it is, isn't it?
00:45We find them, we lock them up.
00:49Coming up.
00:50A slippery customer in Corby.
00:52Vehicles here. Crash, crash, crash.
00:54Throws up a few problems.
00:56I'm music.
00:57I'm going to music.
00:58Please, please.
00:59A smash.
01:01A bash.
01:02Reveals the stash to the Op Revive team.
01:06Well, that's quite a piece of grudge.
01:08When suspected burglars bail out, Lucy and Bryn go to work.
01:12It's the last gasp of Monday and Aaron Griff Griffiths is on the hunt for a silver golf.
01:25Got it.
01:26I'll take.
01:276-1.
01:28I might have got it in the Corby old village standby.
01:31The golf's been seen previously in another county with balaclava clad figures on board who are suspected of numerous car thefts.
01:44I'm unmarked.
01:45I'm unmarked.
01:46Very slow driving.
01:47Standby.
01:48Griffiths in the unmarked Beamer 340, so anyone in the golf won't know there's an interceptor on their tail.
02:03How are the occupants?
02:04I think it's two.
02:07And he can direct the cavalry without spooking the suspect.
02:14It's not aware of my presence.
02:16We're caught in the road out of the old village.
02:18I'm not going to make an attempt to stop it.
02:22We'll wait for TPAC mobiles and other resources.
02:24The plan is to box the golf and two TPAC units arrive.
02:29I will take over from you, mate.
02:33I'll take you through this roundabout.
02:35I've got you.
02:36I've got you.
02:386-4.
02:39Keep that mobile behind the vehicle on the roundabout.
02:44With James and Lockie taking over as the lead car and a firearms unit behind them.
02:50Offside indication.
02:52And it's right, right, right against the road.
02:55Griff plans his next move.
02:58I'm supposed to have to get ahead of it, but I don't think I can.
03:05As well as being an advanced driver, Griff's stinger trained.
03:10And he's going to lay down a bed of spikes for the golf.
03:13Going back towards Turner Road in that direction anyway.
03:17Do you want to get a stinger out? Stand by.
03:19It's all about predicting the suspect's route.
03:28At the junction, wait.
03:31But unfortunately the golf's driver hasn't read the script.
03:35Er, vehicle's increased its speed slightly.
03:38Wrong side.
03:39I'm going to assume it's better aware of your presence now.
03:42Yeah, I suppose so.
03:44Vehicle is now failing to stop, failing to stop.
03:47That way.
03:48That way.
03:49The golf's taken off and the pursuit is on.
03:52It's going that way.
03:53Yeah, it's speed five, four.
03:54And it's pretty low.
03:55Approaching to Oakley Road.
03:56Wait.
03:57As Griff plays catch up.
03:58Right, right, right.
03:59Up Oakley Road.
04:00In the lead car, James and Rocky are all over the runaway.
04:13Yeah, speed five, four.
04:16Risk is low.
04:19The suspect driver's not exactly Lewis Hamilton.
04:22Speed is low.
04:24Stand by.
04:25And it's left, left, left.
04:26Cecil Drive.
04:27But the roads are too tight to box him in.
04:30Stinging his tyres is still their best bet, if they can pull it off.
04:34I reckon you don't stop stinging there.
04:39Though who needs tactics when your target's driving is this bad?
04:44Vehicle's here.
04:45Crash, crash, crash.
04:50The passengers legged it, but Locky goes for the driver.
04:54Right, right, right.
04:55Out of the car, out of the car now.
04:56Okay, right.
04:57Who's a bit of a change from your typical boy racer.
05:00Right, right, listen, I get it, I get it.
05:02Oh, right.
05:03Right, okay.
05:04Oh my God, do you have to do this?
05:08Yes.
05:09It's more than the time.
05:10I didn't know what to do.
05:11Please.
05:12It's more than the time you're underrusted.
05:13Phone and stop.
05:14Give me either a hand.
05:15Oh, I didn't know she wanted it.
05:16Sorry.
05:17Phone and stop.
05:18Wait, wait, no, you don't get it.
05:19Wait, please.
05:20Who's that?
05:21Who's that?
05:22What's his name?
05:23He asked me to let him in the car.
05:24I don't get it.
05:25What's his name?
05:26I don't know.
05:27I'm sure you don't.
05:28No, I don't know.
05:29Listen, trust me, please.
05:30I'm actually being serious.
05:31He asked me for help, yeah?
05:33I let him in the car.
05:34This is my friend's car, please.
05:35This is my friend's car.
05:36I feel sick.
05:37I'm going to be sick.
05:38Wait, please.
05:39Perhaps a car sickness was caused by the low speed skid.
05:52And while they deal with the driver,
05:55Which way?
05:56Griff keeps his eyes peeled for the passenger.
06:00But he's done one in the dark.
06:04He's gone into a field.
06:07Play park.
06:08On a pedal cycle.
06:10He's long run.
06:12So he heads for the stacked golf.
06:14Okay?
06:15You good?
06:17Yeah, yeah, we're good.
06:18She's in custom just to search the vehicle now.
06:21The intel on the car seems spot on.
06:25Passenger side.
06:27Tuck down the side of the seat.
06:31Got a black balaclava.
06:36So we've got balaclavas.
06:38We've got a tool at the moment.
06:40A little bit of cannabis.
06:41Bank card.
06:42So that's just from this front area here at the moment.
06:44So slowly clearing our way through the vehicle.
06:47And see what else we can find.
06:50With cannabis in the car,
06:52they're going to do a drugs wipe on the driver.
06:56And they suspect she's under the influence of more than weed.
07:01Her purse down the driver's side.
07:04Sorry?
07:05Her purse down the driver's side.
07:07Got that inside.
07:08Okay.
07:09It's a small bag of white powder.
07:12I hope you get some evidence bags.
07:14You might need a few of those.
07:17What's that?
07:19It's a crack, isn't it?
07:27Yeah.
07:28The car is like a dodgy Aladdin's cave.
07:30I think we'll have a fence of weapon in a bag as well.
07:33What's that?
07:34Is that a ball in a sock?
07:35Yeah.
07:36Prison style, isn't it?
07:37That's in her handbag.
07:38I'm guessing a pool ball.
07:40Looking at that.
07:41Looks like it's the sort of size for a pool ball in a sock.
07:44Lockie's seen most things in his interceptor career, but not this.
07:4918 years in the job and you hear stories, but I've never come across a pool ball in a sock before.
07:57She's already been arrested for failing to stop and the charges are starting to stack up.
08:02You'll now be a further arrested for dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a license, possession of class A, possession of class B, and possession of an offensive weapon at this time.
08:16So on the floor, we found this, which is, I'd suspect to be crack cocaine.
08:23You see it's quite shiny and it's in rock form.
08:26That was found on the floor there, obviously next to the vehicle.
08:29And then inside the purse of the subject's been arrested, got two, an empty bag and a bag that's still got powder form substance, which I'd suspect to be cocaine.
08:39It could be amphetamine.
08:41And that's been found in the, in the purse.
08:46Yeah, a pot with quite a few buds of cannabis in.
08:50The drug's wipe result comes as no surprise.
08:53Cannabis and cocaine.
08:58The young suspect will have plenty to think about during her night in the cells.
09:11And it's a welcome if slightly unexpected result for the team.
09:15Really tiny little girl.
09:18Um, yeah, it was a bit of a surprise.
09:20I think she was surprised to see us as well, judged by her reaction when we first got there and started dragging her out of the car.
09:24Um, the male didn't want to hang around and speak to us, so there's enquiries ongoing as to who he is.
09:29But she's, um, she's got a lot of questions to answer in the morning.
09:32The driver pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and having no license or insurance.
09:38She received 12 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months and a 12 month driving ban.
09:44No further action was taken with regards to failing to stop, possession of drugs, the offensive weapon or the alleged car thefts.
09:54However, for drug driving, she was banned for a further 20 months.
09:59The passenger is still a wanted man.
10:03Coming up, five men went to mow down a cannabis farm.
10:14Everybody's pretty much asked.
10:16A couple of weeks.
10:17Why would you want?
10:18Why are you?
10:19No way for you.
10:20And Lucy's faithful hound Bryn.
10:22Stay where you are now.
10:23Stay where you are.
10:24You've got a bin.
10:25Hold him.
10:26Gets his teeth stuck in.
10:28Fire!
10:29Fire!
10:43In one month, English and Welsh police targeted cannabis grows run by organised crime groups, or OCGs.
10:51Fire!
10:52Fire!
10:53Fire!
10:54Nearly 200,000 plants were seized with an estimated street value of between 115 and 130 million pounds.
11:03This is on an industrial level.
11:05Often these cannabis farms not only cause a blight on local communities, but also involve criminals exploiting vulnerable people.
11:13Literally their whole life is just looking after these cannabis farms.
11:18Intelligence suggests there's cannabis grows at two addresses in Rushton.
11:26The neighbourhood's team are tackling one, and the Operation Revive unit, including Connor and Brad, are heading to the other.
11:35So, we go in, and we can see obviously, hopefully, lots of rooms of cannabis.
11:42One room where they live in, which will probably have a farmer who's normally an illegal immigrant, or someone who's been exploited inside.
11:50They'll probably be there, so they can be unpredictable because they get told all sorts of rumours about the police,
11:56that when we go in, we'll kill them, or subject them to serious violence, and whatever.
12:00So they can be very unpredictable.
12:03But it's not only angry farmers the team have to be on their guard for.
12:08We know that the OCGs that use these addresses will sometimes place electric wires so that we can get caught on them,
12:14or spikes, needles, trapdoors.
12:17They can get very creative, so, unlike our normal drugs where we run in and get hands on people very quickly,
12:26once we're in, we're going to go in a bit slower today and just watch where we're going.
12:32Last year's nationwide crackdown saw Northamptonshire coppers carry out 21 search warrants on suspected weed farms
12:39and seize more than 5,000 cannabis plants.
12:42And, though the team can't be sure the intel on this property is accurate, it smells promising.
12:50Yeah.
12:51These things are weed.
12:52We'll have to go to Hoolibar then.
12:53Yeah.
12:57They use the Hoolibar first to remove the glass for their own safety.
13:10Glass cleared.
13:12They unleash the 16-kilo key that unlocks every door.
13:22Although this one's proving a tough nut to crack.
13:27Finally...
13:28Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow.
13:31Police! Police!
13:33They enter with caution in case of booby traps.
13:35I've got part of the rail.
13:37Police!
13:38One in the address gone back inside. Do you hear that?
13:41Yeah.
13:42Someone inside tried to make a run for it.
13:46Police! Come to the door!
13:47Police!
13:48But the team has the rear covered and the runaway knows the game is up.
13:51Come to me.
13:52No!
13:53Turn around.
13:54Turn around.
13:55Hands beyond your back.
13:56Hands beyond your back.
14:00Right, at the minute you're detained on the Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
14:03Adam's upstairs.
14:04Adam's upstairs.
14:05Okay.
14:06Come this way.
14:07Police!
14:08This could be the farmer.
14:10And the search is on for any others.
14:12Check that room.
14:13Police!
14:14Show yourself!
14:15Police!
14:16Show yourself!
14:17Police!
14:18Police!
14:19Right, how do you want to do it?
14:20Check that door first.
14:21Check that room.
14:22I'll stay out here.
14:23Doesn't look like there's anyone else home.
14:25Police!
14:26Show yourself!
14:27But they're still concerned about any nasty surprises.
14:29Don't touch the door handle yet.
14:30Satisfied it's safe, they draw back the curtain on this outfit.
14:32This isn't just a bit of home grown.
14:35It's fine.
14:36Er...
14:37Let's just check that room.
14:38And it's not just one room.
14:39Are you planning to...?
14:40Er...
14:41This whole house has been converted into a sophisticated cannabis filter.
14:44But they're still concerned about any nasty surprises.
14:46Don't touch the door handle yet.
14:47Satisfied it's safe, they draw back the curtain on this outfit.
14:49This isn't just a bit of home grown.
14:51This isn't just a bit of home grown.
14:53It's fine.
14:54Er...
14:55It's just...
14:56Check that room.
14:57Er...
14:58This whole house has been converted into a sophisticated cannabis filter.
15:01cannabis farm downstairs it's one huge grow in the living room on the top floor
15:08we've got three bedrooms full of cannabis grows all mature plants and then the
15:13loft is also covered well our forensic photo has been taken of everything we'll
15:18see some of the plants and then we'll put it all for questioning to the chat
15:23we've rested downstairs and then the cannabis will completely be removed from
15:28see they nip this in the bud just in time oh that's quite a decent grog like
15:34lengthwise everybody's pretty much harvest a couple of weeks
15:38they're ready to go in it's not very very shortly the property wasn't booby-trapped
15:46but Conn has found something else potentially meant for unexpected visitors
15:51big stick there's not much to it and it's on one side of the bed so he's obviously
15:57kept it there in case someone's coming in that he doesn't want to have come in but
16:01today he decided to try and run away instead of beat us over the head with it
16:05as well as the weapon they've discovered some revealing documents
16:10oh I like this we've got an IS-91 detention paperwork it seems the suspect is
16:16awaiting a decision from immigration on whether he'll be allowed to stay in the
16:20country so it looks like that he was given paperwork directing directing him to
16:25stay at a place called the atrium hotel so it's quite possible that he's been
16:29contacted by yeah been contacted by other members of the same community and
16:38basically been enticed from that hotel to work in in a cannabis farm times 950
16:43under arrest for cultivation of cannabis don't have to say anything but may harm
16:46your defence do not mention one question something which you later on in court
16:48anything you do say may be given an evidence most of the crop will be
16:51destroyed but a few plants are bagged up for analysis so they'll go to drug
16:59experts in a different station who would then weigh it and then they do various
17:05tests and all sorts to work out what they think it weighs and how much it'll be
17:10worth and then that would then be submitted to the courts give an idea of how
17:15much this operation was worth to him although maths wasn't Connor's favorite
17:21subject at school he's a dab hand at totting up the value of a major weed farm if
17:27they get like say three or four crops in a year and they're getting 150 200 plus
17:33plants in each one and it's got a rough street value of a grander plant you know
17:37you are getting into the millions you know it's got going over a period of time and they
17:43won't have just one they'll have you know in a couple towns in the area they might have you
17:49know between five and ten on the go at any one time it's a massive operation
17:54but not everyone will be sharing in the profits with the farmer likely at the bottom of the pile
18:02well he's already told us that he's coming off a boat from the channel and that he's been asked
18:10couldn't find work so he's potentially being exploited into doing this so this is as much
18:15as safe about safeguarding him as it is getting this to not be allowed on the street
18:19the farmer of weed house pleaded guilty to growing the cannabis and was sent down for 12 months at his
18:29majesty's pleasure a total of 200 plants with a street value of 140 grand were destroyed
18:36the north hamptonshire force has 15 dog handlers including lucy sculthorpe who's on training duty
18:45today with four-year-old german shepherd brin
18:48one of the force's top trackers brin sniffed out a rogues gallery in the line of duty
18:58but even master crime fighters need regular practice
19:02drawing the short straw this morning and playing a hidden suspect is sean an instructor from the dog
19:10unit some suspects especially those on drink or drugs think they can take on a police dog
19:16they quickly learn that they can't
19:19man versus dog is usually a one-sided fight
19:37most bad guys forego the fists and make good with their legs
19:52usually with a similar result
20:02brin's favorite snack is chicken feet but he'll make do with some padded arm
20:13training course complete
20:23real life action beckons
20:27good boy
20:28it's late night in wellingborough and the dynamic duo are after a pair of suspected burglars
20:37failing to stop in a stolen van
20:39road conditions are bad visibility is poor and the suspects driving is as ropey as the weather
20:46and the inevitable is just around the corner
21:02two men out and running
21:08as the cavalry rolls in
21:12the runners disappear into the woods
21:15go round to lucy
21:18they might have a head start but lucy and brin are up for the challenge
21:25the fleeing suspects will have left scent trails as they clambered through trees and vegetation
21:40to brin's fine which you knows it's a trail of bad guy breadcrumbs and the hunt is on
21:45fish yes i'm chucking stand by
21:48it's tough going but a few brambles
21:52and a bit of water aren't going to stop them
21:57they emerge from the woods into a field next to some houses
22:03and lucy updates the team with their progress
22:06don't want to have them work across the stream
22:10the woods are housing estate
22:12with a sense of smell 10 000 times more sensitive than the humans
22:20brin's homing in like a scent guided missile
22:23yep
22:24yep
22:25yep we're going
22:26after 25 minutes of tracking
22:31brin follows his nose to a back garden that seems deserted
22:36but the dog knows otherwise and leads lucy to some garden furniture
22:45covered by a tarpaulin
22:46police for dog come out now
22:49come out now
22:51do you understand you'll get bit by the dog
22:53right the dog's on a lead come out slowly
22:57right my colleague's going to come in
23:01with no dog
23:03if you make any sudden movements the dog will bite you
23:06do you understand
23:07right my colleague's going to come in
23:11under the garden furniture
23:13hours of training have paid off
23:16and brin has his man
23:17who was cowering under the tarp
23:19good boy brin
23:21wait
23:22watch him
23:23the suspect sensibly surrenders
23:25and it looks like brin
23:26will be getting his chicken feet tonight
23:28good lad
23:30good boy brinster
23:32clever boy
23:34brin's undercover runaway turned out to be the passenger from the van
23:38he was found guilty of an unrelated offence of causing gbh
23:42and was banged up for two years
23:44forensics identified the driver
23:47who pleaded guilty to gbh and dangerous driving
23:50no action was taken against either of them for burglary or vehicle theft
23:54a good night's work and dogged determination
23:58coming up
24:01good morning
24:03can you get out
24:04no
24:05you can't get out
24:06there's no escape for a drink driver
24:08hello
24:09hello
24:09and dave and callum
24:11blind sick
24:12deal with a bloke in a hurry
24:15he's being pursued
24:17yeah
24:18all over the shop
24:19according to the uk government
24:34more than 28 000 people a year
24:36are convicted of drink driving
24:38and the interceptors know only too well
24:42that drivers who are over the limit
24:44are an unpredictable breed
24:46sometimes it can be aggressive
24:49obviously we're prepared to deal with that
24:50if it is the case
24:51they don't want to be caught
24:52i understand that
24:53there are no implications of
24:54what's going to happen
24:55if they do get caught during driving
24:56get people that accept it
24:59for what it is
25:00and are apologetic
25:01and genuinely are a morsel with it
25:04and unfortunately still get dealt with the same way
25:06then you do
25:08we had people last week
25:09that just don't seem to care
25:11or understand
25:11the issues with it
25:13but then we see it first hand on the roads
25:15what
25:16what the implications
25:17of drink driving can be
25:19and the collisions that can occur because of it
25:23the wee small hours after saturday night
25:29are prime time for drink drivers
25:31and as bomber and rob make their way to an rtc in kettering
25:35they have low expectations of what awaits
25:38there's been a report of a collision
25:43whereby a little red Corsa
25:47has collided with a BMW
25:52but caller suspects that the driver of the Corsa
25:56might be under the influence of alcohol
25:57with the suspected drink driver
26:07potentially trying to flee
26:08bombers not hanging about
26:10that's one way
26:14she's calling us
26:18oh there she is
26:20Rob sums up the scene
26:24oh dear
26:25the car's wedged
26:29facing the wrong way down a one way street
26:32with the driver at the wheel
26:33hello
26:36good morning
26:37can you get out
26:38no
26:39you can't get out
26:40I don't know
26:41hello
26:43hello
26:43what's happened
26:46right so basically
26:47I've been here
26:48right
26:48trying to get into my car
26:50right
26:51and that's happened
26:54that's it
26:55that's just happened
26:55does it
26:56makes perfect sense
26:57why don't you come and join me in the back of my car
26:59for the time being
27:00and then we'll start going through
27:01getting your car sorted
27:03shall we
27:03where are your keys
27:05where are the keys for the car
27:07here
27:07take them
27:08there you go
27:08so go around this side
27:10the best place for this wobbly suspect
27:13and watch yourself there
27:15is in the back of a police car
27:17I've got my breath box ready
27:21fine
27:21I was going to say
27:23if you'd have given me a minute
27:24I could have got that out of your way
27:25having been quite chatty
27:28she's now gone all shy
27:30doesn't want to speak to me now
27:32interesting
27:33but the onlookers are happy to talk
27:37who's
27:40has anyone seen what's happened
27:41you've all heard it
27:44according to witnesses
27:46the lady has been trying to reverse her courser out
27:50for about 30 minutes
27:51Bomber does some digging
27:53what's your name
27:54are you joking
27:56no what's your name
27:57is that a joke
27:58no
27:59what is your name
28:01I'm not telling you right now
28:03no one's joking here
28:05around 260 people are killed each year
28:08as a result of drink driving
28:10and Bomber is deadly serious
28:12I suspect that you're
28:13you've been drinking
28:15I need you to provide a sample
28:17if you don't provide one though
28:22you'll be arrested
28:23you know that don't you
28:23yeah
28:25failing to provide
28:28without a reasonable excuse
28:30is treated as severely
28:31as being caught
28:32driving over the limit
28:33what is your name
28:35sorry
28:36hello
28:38and failing to talk
28:40isn't going to help her either
28:41phone to the tube please
28:43until I tell you to stop
28:44no thanks
28:45you're not
28:46you're refusing
28:47yeah
28:47okay
28:48you're under arrest
28:49on suspicion of failing
28:50to provide
28:50a sample of breath
28:53for analysis
28:54okay
28:54you don't have to say anything
28:56but it may harm your defence
28:57if you do not mention
28:58when questioned
28:58something later line in court
29:00anything you do say
29:00may be given evidence
29:01okay
29:03right
29:05that was simple
29:09she's just failed to provide
29:10Romeo Papa 14
29:13another unit will recover
29:15the car
29:16and Bomber seems to be
29:19making some progress
29:20is it
29:21okay
29:23there's nothing wrong
29:24well
29:24you have
29:25you're under arrest now
29:26what have you got
29:28for failing to provide
29:29a suitable sample
29:30okay
29:33right
29:34jump in the car please
29:36Bomber's been on the force
29:40for nearly 20 years
29:41and has zero tolerance
29:43for drink drivers
29:44but he's giving her
29:46one last chance
29:47right
29:49I can do this again
29:50do you want to provide
29:51a sample of breath
29:52you're going to be
29:53arrested anyway
29:53no
29:56okay
29:57fair enough
29:57this chatterbox is off
29:59for a trip to the nick
30:00because I suspect
30:01that you drink driving
30:02to blow on the
30:04evidential breath test
30:05machine
30:06what's his surname
30:07but there's still
30:09a wall of silence
30:11come on then
30:13we'll go and speak
30:14to the skipper
30:15sergeant
30:17he's through here
30:17perhaps you'll open up
30:20to the serge
30:21same desk
30:22this way around
30:23and we're just
30:25going into here
30:26so if you want to
30:27just stand up in front
30:27of where this gap is
30:28that'd be ideal
30:29that's it
30:30I'll do
30:30I don't have to do this
30:32you do
30:33you do
30:34because it's part of
30:35booking an improved
30:36process
30:37okay we'll leave
30:39handcuffs on now
30:40face the desk
30:42and speak to the sergeant
30:44it's a simple request
30:45act like an adult
30:46but it looks like
30:51this drink driver
30:52doesn't want to turn around
30:54okay
30:57I require you to provide
30:58two specimens of breath
30:59for analysis
31:00by means of an
31:01approved device
31:02this is really important
31:05okay you need to
31:05listen to this
31:06I warn you that
31:08failure to provide
31:09either of these
31:10specimens
31:10will render you
31:12liable to a
31:13prosecution
31:13do you agree to
31:16provide two specimens
31:17of breath for analysis
31:18has she been saving
31:20her breath for the
31:21evidential test machine
31:22so do you agree to
31:24provide two specimens
31:25of breath for analysis
31:26doesn't look like it
31:29okay
31:31right that's fine then
31:33there's no point
31:34trying to drag this on
31:35longer than it needs to be
31:37it's bad one tell
31:40good effort
31:41but not the right one
31:42we don't know how drunk
31:44she is but I suspect
31:45she's going to be
31:46well over the drink drive
31:48limit
31:48and so she's been put
31:51into the cell
31:52she'll spend the night
31:53there and then in the
31:54morning we'll stick an
31:56interview on her but
31:57ultimately she's going to
31:58be charged with failing to
31:59provide and she'll go to
32:00court and she'll face a
32:02disqualification so
32:04whether you decide to
32:07provide an example or
32:08not she's going to lose
32:10her driving licence either
32:11way so
32:12little miss silent found her
32:16voice and pleaded guilty for
32:17failing to provide she was
32:19banned for 18 months and
32:20ordered to pay 439 pounds in
32:23fines
32:23another major contributor to
32:31road accidents in the UK is
32:33speeding
32:33it not only raises the
32:39likelihood of a collision
32:40it also increases the
32:45chances of you being killed or
32:47seriously injured as a result
32:49and interceptors have little
32:56sympathy for the speed demons
32:57i think it's just selfish really
33:00it's a little bit like drink
33:01driving isn't it people do it
33:02because they think they'll get
33:05away with it and they think
33:08there won't be any
33:08consequences there's no real
33:11need for it you know it's
33:13shown that speeding by even
33:16like 10 20 miles an hour
33:18doesn't really make that much
33:20difference to your journey
33:21time and so there's no point
33:23you put yourself and others at
33:25quite a lot more risk for not
33:27really any any benefit
33:29interceptor dave lee and
33:41calamar in the unmarked xc90
33:43with eyes on a nippy ford focus
33:46st line
33:47he's got my interest because
33:50he's right at the chuff of that
33:51beamer and obviously knowing
33:53that he's got no plates number
33:55plates on might make him think
33:57that he can drive like a buffoon
33:59the tailgating driver has trade
34:03plates which allow those in the
34:05motor trade to temporarily drive
34:07vehicles without having to register
34:08them
34:09actually if he's delivered that to a
34:11customer if that was my car i
34:14wouldn't be very happy
34:14and dave's not happy with the
34:18blokes driving
34:19well i've certainly got 19
34:21flocked at 19
34:22look at him he's just raring up
34:25behind stuff isn't he
34:2696
34:30exceeding the speed limit was
34:33estimated to be a contributory
34:35factor in 27 percent of uk road
34:38deaths last year
34:39aggressive driving at these speeds
34:41is a recipe for disaster
34:43he's bullying people out of the way
34:45isn't he
34:46he is isn't he
34:46there's nothing smooth about his
34:49driving either
34:49no there isn't it's all very you
34:51know erratic isn't it
34:52he's heading for points on his
34:54license and it's all been
34:55pointless
34:56you know look he's taking off again
34:58why because the traffic lights are
35:00red
35:00he's being pursued
35:04yeah
35:05all over the shop
35:06the driver's clearly unaware of the
35:10unmarked car tailing him
35:11it's a 70 and a 40
35:1471
35:14it's time to pull him over but
35:17there's no need
35:18there he is
35:19happy days
35:20as he's pulled into a dealership
35:23thankfully in one piece
35:24and the penny's dropped
35:27well as now because i've put all the
35:29blue lights on so
35:30hi driver
35:37because i need to speak to you about a
35:39traffic offence i'm going to caution you
35:41so you do not have to say anything but
35:42it may help me defense if you do not mention my
35:44question
35:44something which you later align in court
35:46anything you do say may be given in
35:48evidence
35:48do you know why i've stopped to speak to
35:51you now
35:51i think yes
35:53why why am i talking to you
35:55maybe i'm speed fast
35:58driving fast or what
36:01maybe is that a maybe or are you
36:04i think
36:05you are are you in any rush to get
36:07anywhere
36:07no
36:08no okay have you got your driving
36:10license with you please
36:11speeding at over 66 miles per hour in a 40
36:16could mean six penalty points and it
36:19looks like he's just the wrong side
36:21so we've got you at 67 miles an hour in a 40
36:27you've also been driving up the backside of everyone else and trying to push them out the way
36:32bully your way through traffic
36:33yeah man
36:35swerving in and out of lanes
36:36i know this
36:37sorry
36:37is this your job
36:40possibly not for much longer
36:42the dealership we're equally concerned that obviously this is a you know customer's car
36:48and a bit upset with the way that it was it was being driven
36:51but that sort of driving is not not acceptable
36:54whether that's how he normally drives or whether because there's no number plates on it there would be no
37:00you know consequence he might feel a bit immune to traffic offenses i don't i don't know
37:06um but either way hopefully this might change his manner of driving
37:11and if it changes it and it makes it a little bit better then you know we've done our job
37:15so you're free to go and drive safe okay
37:18no i'm sorry
37:19that's okay thank you very much
37:21all good
37:22speedy was reported for driving without due care and attention
37:27his fate rests with the criminal justice unit
37:31still to come
37:35see the double yellow lines
37:36if you want a zigzag line you can't park on zigzag lines
37:39no absolutely
37:40you wait all episode for a zigzag line offence
37:43stay there i'll give you a bit of paper
37:45and then two come along in the same story
37:48he's got some materials
37:49give me your parts on zigzag lines
37:51i can't park anywhere
37:52some of the lesser known highway code rules include fitting a sat nav to the wrong part of your windscreen
38:11not sleeping in your car under the influence of alcohol
38:15and beeping your horn when stationary
38:18but michael hollowell is thinking about rule 191
38:22not parking on a zigzag line leading off a pedestrian crossing
38:26like the driver of the hyundai
38:28and there he is
38:30the bloke makes a half-hearted dash for it
38:33excuse me hello
38:35but it's not exactly the great escape
38:37on the pavement
38:40shut your door
38:41shut your door
38:42come over here
38:44right
38:46you've gone into the shop
38:47yes
38:47my baby
38:48my baby speak
38:50he's hungry
38:51see the double yellow lines
38:54you're on a zigzag line
38:55you can't park on zigzag lines
38:56the reason you can't park there
38:59is to avoid blocking the view of pedestrians using the crossing
39:02and michael leads by example
39:04do me a favour
39:05i want you to drive
39:07off the zigzag lines
39:08yeah
39:09yeah i want you to drive
39:10because i don't want to park on zigzag lines
39:12so if you park down behind that voxel
39:14i'll pull down behind you
39:15no
39:16yes
39:16all right
39:17do not drive off
39:18or else you'll be in my bad books
39:19michael's top policing peeve
39:22is this offence
39:23so he's got some recommended reading material
39:26for the driver
39:26who turns out to be from romania
39:30have you read the highway code
39:34why sorry i'm not speaking
39:36you have no idea what the highway code is have you
39:37really if you've come from a foreign country
39:41and you want to drive on our roads
39:42you really need to be reading the highway code
39:45and something else you need to drive here
39:47insurance
39:50what insurance have you got on the vehicle
39:52sorry
39:53do you have any insurance

40:18what's going on please
40:20hello
40:21your brother
40:22yeah
40:23can you let him know
40:24that he's going to be reported
40:25for driving the vehicle
40:26with no insurance
40:27and also
40:29the vehicle's going to be seized

40:34we'll be taking the vehicle away
40:36so
40:37just let him know
40:39while i fill in the paperwork
40:40michael still needs to caution the driver
40:44but the bloke's sister
40:46has had to go
40:47anybody else that speaks english
40:49that you know
40:49no i speak
40:50my friend
40:51okay
40:52luckily his mate is on hand
40:55and if you've ever wanted to know what zigzag is in romanian
41:25pay attention
41:25your fences are
41:28number one
41:29parking on zigzag lines
41:32and
41:35no insurance
41:37all right
41:40yeah
41:41did you want to make any reply
41:42no
41:43no
41:43well ask him
41:44okay
41:49don't don't
41:50don't say no for him
41:51we're not going to ask him
41:52it's him not you i'm reporting
41:53there's one more bit of bad news for michael to deliver
41:56what's up
41:56this is for the property that you've taken from the vehicle
42:00you take the car
42:02i'm taking the car yeah
42:03sir no please
42:04yeah
42:05car has to come with me
42:06no i need to make the insurance for him
42:07no but there's no insurance on the car
42:09yes i make now sir
42:10you can't
42:11and i make the insurance now
42:13no
42:13car comes with me
42:14that's it
42:15the car's off to the pound
42:17stay there i'll give you a bit of paper
42:19and michael's off to see another dodgy parker
42:24driver
42:25pull him behind my police car for me
42:28it seems this place is a bit of a zig-zag offense hot spot
42:33just got some materials
42:37yeah but you parked on zig-zag lines
42:38i can't park anywhere
42:40well i'd rather you park on double yellers than the zig-zag lines for crossing
42:43so stay where you
42:45you are joking me
42:47i mean
42:47well yeah
42:48you're a man you're a man of an age that you know what zig-zag lines mean
42:50you cannot
42:51no one parks on zig-zag lines
42:52well however heavy they may be
42:55yeah
42:55you don't park on zig-zag lines
42:57right so i've reported this chap was parking on them
42:59so unfortunately you're going to get one too
43:01so stay put until i finish with him
43:03michael zigzags from one job
43:07okay i'll leave you with it
43:08thanks a lot
43:09to another
43:11so when you pulled into park
43:15did you not see the lovely blue lights of my police car
43:18that's why i didn't want to park in the bus slot
43:21so i pulled up there just to drop some lead which is heavy
43:24i couldn't pull down the other street
43:26because they all parked up
43:28i thought i'm not going to go here
43:29yeah well
43:30a few seconds is too much on zig-zag lines
43:33but there's no need for a translator this time
43:36so you're going to be reported for the consideration of the question
43:39because you're going to prosecute for the one offence
43:41that's parking on the zig-zag lines of a crossing
43:44you don't have to say anything
43:45it may harm your defence
43:46you don't mention analysis later on
43:47anything you do say may be a bit of evidence
43:49do you want to make any comments
43:51and the moral of the story
44:01you've only got to look at the highway code
44:03it says you can't do it
44:04the man with the van was reported for parking on a pelican crossing
44:09and attended a what's driving us course
44:11the romanian driver went to court
44:14and was convicted of parking on a zig-zag
44:16and driving without insurance
44:17he was fined a total of 1,322 pounds
44:21and received six points on his license
44:24there's no excuse to park on zig-zag lines
44:28why would you need to park directly outside a shop
44:31and run into the shop
44:32and then run back to your car
44:33when you can park
44:3310 metres, 15 metres down the road
44:54go
