Comic book video games are fun, no doubt about it. At least they try their absolute hardest to be. 00:07The Batman Arkham series, for example, stands out in its success, innovation and replayability years after release.
00:14But did you know that in 2011 an Avengers game was scrapped out of the blue?
00:19THQ studios in Brisbane, Australia were over the moon with excitement to work on an Avengers game that was supposed to release alongside the movie franchise.
00:28Remember, at the time the Iron Man movie had come out and was a big success, but Marvel kept their plans of a broader MCU close to the chest.
00:37CNET reports the Avengers game was going to be a co-op first-person action-packed game that let you switch between playing as Thor, the Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America fighting against hordes of enemies based on the Ultimates comic books.
00:51Unfortunately, due to several colliding financial tornadoes and stacks of bad corporate decisions, not to mention the licensing fees that Marvel were asking for at the time, the game was scrapped and many employees lost their jobs.
01:05Eventually, Marvel fans did get what they wanted with 2020's Marvel Avengers game.
01:11Or did they? Opinions vary, but the THQ team was more than confident the world would have loved their first-person game.
01:19Maybe somehow, someday, we'll get to experience it too.
