00:00There are worse things to do when you're in grade two
00:03than to spend your time building a dream.
00:07Josh Gad is giving fans of all ages a distraction
00:10from the stress and panic around the coronavirus
00:12by creating his very own book club.
00:15Last week, the Frozen star began sharing children's books
00:17via social media, not just by reading the books,
00:20but by performing them.
00:21The actor spoke to The Hollywood Reporter
00:22about the Gad book time segments, as he calls it,
00:25which he usually reads in the late afternoon
00:27and sends a tweet beforehand to notify his followers.
00:30He tells THR,
00:31For me, it's been a distraction to sit and simply read a book
00:34and not look at a screen and not think about
00:36what's happening around us.
00:37Gad says it was the anxiety from the mounting coronavirus-related news
00:41in the last week that originally sparked the idea for the book club.
00:44I felt like I didn't have any answers to give to the people
00:47who rely on me to give answers, namely my girls.
00:50I felt like I didn't know what to tell them
00:52or how to prepare them or how to distract them
00:54for the greatest disruption they'll hopefully ever know
00:56in their lives.
00:57He goes on to say,
00:58With the help of his daughter's nanny,
01:11Gad says he had his epiphany.
01:13Although he was no longer able to read to the kids at school,
01:16he still had a massive virtual audience.
01:18Gad has been doing regular readings since
01:20and says he will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
01:23This is something that's bringing comfort.
01:25Even if it's 10 people,
01:26that right now feels very worthwhile to me.
