00:00Closing today with Amber Heard as her lawyer filed a 43-page document asking for her guilty
00:05verdict to be dropped following the defamation trial between her and Johnny Depp. On July 1st,
00:10the file docs claimed that the case's outcome wasn't sufficiently supported by the presented
00:15evidence. According to the New York Post, the motion stated that the Pirates of the Caribbean
00:19star proceeded solely on a defamation by implication theory, abandoning any claims
00:25that misheard statements were actually false. Recall that Johnny sued Amber in 2022 over a 2018
00:32op-ed piece that the actress published through the Washington Post claiming she was a victim of
00:37domestic abuse. Although she never explicitly named him in the article, Johnny claimed that the piece
00:42hurt his career significantly. Johnny went on to win the trial after he was awarded $10 million in
00:47compensatory damages. Despite everything, Amber announced that she was appealing the verdict in June.
