00:00Trump slammed for threatening to send National Guard to Chicago.
00:05Similar to other cities in the country, the president wanted to deploy members of the
00:09National Guard in the city of Chicago, and around the same time made bold statements
00:14threatening to arrest the city's Democratic mayor.
00:17The news is part of a string of deployments he's made, sending armed National Guard soldiers
00:23to walk the streets of various cities, many of them under Democratic leaders, in light
00:28of the recent protests against his immigration policies and ICE raids.
00:32It's no secret that there's been a lot of tension in major cities across the country,
00:37as the president's immigration policies have begun settling into place.
00:42And Immigration and Customs Enforcement, agents have been cracking down on raids, making arrests,
00:47and taking people into custody in large numbers.
00:51Since the raids have gotten more intense and widespread across the country during the summertime,
00:57more Americans have expressed outrage, and massive protests have begun breaking out in
01:01numerous states.
01:03While they're currently deployed in Washington, D.C. and Memphis, the president made headlines
01:08as he attempted to deploy them in Chicago.
01:11Over the weekend, an appeals court ruled that troops sent to Illinois could stay there under
01:16federal control but cannot be deployed until it hears further arguments.
01:21Despite neither of the political leaders having a criminal record, in a recent Truth Social
01:26Post, the president's personal social media network, he wrote, Chicago mayor should be
01:31in jail for failing to protect ICE officers.
01:35Governor Pritzker also.
01:37In addition to the 79-year-old's direct post, the White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson,
01:43spoke on his behalf, stating, JB Pritzker and Brandon Johnson have blood on their hands,
01:49as reported by NBC News.
01:51We'll be watching closely to see what happens within Illinois courts over the next week,
01:57and if indeed, troops are deployed to the major city as Americans continue to reel over
02:02the news online.
