Denzel Washington is sharing his thoughts on the current political landscape in the United States. The two-time Oscar-winning actor, who stars in Ridley Scott's upcoming 'Gladiator II,' was recently asked about the 2024 presidential election, where Donald Trump defeat Kamala Harris earlier this month.

00:05The two-time Oscar-winning actor who stars in Ridley Scott's upcoming Gladiator 2
00:09was recently asked about the 2024 presidential election
00:13where Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris earlier this month.
00:16During his interview with the Sunday Times, Washington said,
00:19it's all politics, all promises unkept.
00:22And now with the information age the way it is, if anything, left, right,
00:26whatever had better learn how to use those tools to manipulate the people.
00:29There was a great line in the first movie I did, 1981's carbon copy,
00:33Power to the People.
00:34Yeah, they had it once.
00:35It was called the Stone Age.
00:37He continued, we're all slaves to information now.
00:39We really are.
00:40We're all slaves.
00:41So whatever you feel about the leaders, like this guy's crazy or the other one is sane,
00:45you'd better realize you're being manipulated by both sides, period.
00:49Before adding, yeah, so go to the movies.
00:51The star has previously been open about urging people to, quote,
00:54open our eyes and hold elected officials in office accountable.
00:57He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017,
01:00I think we as Americans need to unite and to hold all of our elected officials
01:04feet to the fire as it relates to working together,
01:07during which Trump was serving his first term as president.
01:10He added, we need to demand that they work together through our vote
01:13and that they work together to come up with solutions.
