00:00Donald Trump is pushing back against those who think his backers in conservative
00:04media tell him what to do. In a White House address on Friday, Trump said popular
00:09personalities, including Fox News host Sean Hannity, radio host Rush Limbaugh, and
00:14pundit Ann Coulter, don't decide policy. The three hosts have all been seen as crucial
00:20outside advisers to the president on the topic of immigration, with Hannity referred
00:24to as Trump's shadow chief of staff in the press. Trump said Sean Hannity has been
00:29a terrific, terrific supporter of what I do, not of me, adding, if I changed my views,
00:35he wouldn't be with me. Of Limbaugh, he said, he's got one of the biggest audiences in the
00:40history of the world. This guy is unbelievable. Trump also spoke fondly of Fox News host
00:45Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson, two strong voices in the conservative world on combating
00:50illegal immigration. He said, Laura's been great. Tucker Carlson's been great. He then added
00:55that he's gotten backing from pundits on CNN, a network he strongly dislikes. I actually
01:01have a couple of people on CNN that have been great. OK, so it looks like everyone's
01:05terrific, unbelievable and great. Great. Trump also used the address to announce his
01:10decision to declare a national emergency to fund the building of a wall along the
01:14U.S.-Mexico border. According to aides bypassing Congress, which approved $1.4 billion,
01:20far below the $5.7 billion he insisted he needed, Trump announced he'll be spending
01:24roughly $8 billion on border barriers. And to do so, he'll be combining the money approved
01:30by Congress with funding he plans to take from federal military construction and counter-drug
01:34efforts for the wall. A move that is already drawing bipartisan criticism on Capitol Hill
01:40and is expected to face rounds of legal challenges. For more on Trump's address, head to THR.com.
