00:00Not everybody gets a prize, and it is subjective.
00:02Whoopi Goldberg is weighing in on Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig's Oscar snub.
00:07Fans and some Hollywood stars have expressed their disappointment on social media
00:10over the actress and director not being nominated for Best Leading Actress and Best Director, respectively.
00:17However, Goldberg, an EGOT winner, said on Wednesday's episode of The View,
00:21Here's the deal. Everybody doesn't win. They're not snubs.
00:24And that's what I want to sort of point out.
00:25It's not the elites. It's the entire family of the Academy Awards who vote for Best Picture nominations.
00:34Okay? We all vote for Best Picture. Everybody.
00:38So there are seven to ten nominations that happen.
00:42And you don't get everything that you want to get.
00:44Co-host Sarah Haynes also shared her thoughts, asking when does it become a snub.
00:48That assumes that someone else shouldn't be in there because you have five people.
00:52Everyone below the five is a snub.
00:54Goldberg, who previously won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 1990's Ghost,
01:00said,
01:01There are no snubs, and that's what you have to keep in mind.
01:04Not everybody gets a prize, and it is subjective. Movies are subjective.
01:07The movies you love may not be loved by the people who are voting.
01:10I see. I see that you want me to stop.
