00:00 The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. It's a bit of a mouthful, but
00:07 they call it the Aussie Oscars and it's really brought the stars out on the Gold Coast. It's
00:12 the Australian film industry's night of nights and the who's who are here on the red carpet.
00:17 The event is quite a coup for Queensland. We've pinched the Logies off Melbourne and
00:21 now the Actor Awards off Sydney. On the red carpet earlier we jostled for position with
00:26 a hungry media pack to try and grab as many celebrities as we could. We were ignored by
00:31 plenty but we spoke to the cast and directors of Netflix horror hit Talk To Me, which is
00:36 nominated for plenty of awards, Teresa Palmer who's nominated for Best Actress, as well
00:41 as another nominee, Australian acting royalty, Cate Blanchett. What I love about these nights
00:46 is it celebrates films and television and media of all types, of all stripes. I think
00:54 that's what makes a healthy industry, when the output isn't homogenous.
00:59 The guest of honour though is the Gold Coast's own Golden Girl, Margot Robbie. She's being
01:04 awarded the Trailblazer Award following the incredible success of Barbie and we managed
01:09 to speak to her. Is this the most dressed up you've ever got on the Gold Coast?
01:13 I would have to say the last time I got this dolled up was probably for my year 12 formal
01:20 and I wasn't wearing a sparkly number like this, but I felt very glamorous on the night
01:25 and that was about five minutes from here. A pinch yourself moment for a local news reporter
01:29 speaking to those two and rubbing shoulders with them. The awards ceremony is going on
01:33 right now in that theatre behind me. It isn't being broadcast live, it will air a little
01:38 bit later tonight.
