00:13We still can't believe it. As directors, it is critical that our work be shown to audiences.
00:17And while the film was far from finished, we wish that fans all over the world would have the opportunity to see and embrace the final film themselves.
00:24The movie stars in The Heights' breakout Grace as Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, along with Michael Keaton as Batman,
00:30J.K. Simmons as Barbara's father, Commissioner James Gordon, and Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly.
00:36In their statement, the filmmakers thanked their cast, saying, quote,
00:39On Tuesday, news broke that Warner Bros. Discovery was shelving the $90 million film starring Grace,
00:49with the move coming after a change of corporate ownership, and as the company's CEO seeks $3 billion in cost savings.
00:56According to sources, the CEO opted to take a tax write-down on the film rather than release it,
01:01as his strategy is to refocus Warner's on theatrical rather than streaming films.
01:05Warner's released a statement on Tuesday explaining its move,
01:08saying the decision is not a reflection of Grace's performance in the movie,
01:11but of the company leadership's strategic shift as it relates to the DC Universe and HBO Max.
