With YouTube now officially out of the scripted space, Netflix has acquired the first three seasons of the ‘Karate Kid’ sequel starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka.

00:29The first two seasons, which aired on YouTube in 2018 and 2019,
00:32will make their debut on Netflix later this year.
00:35A premiere date for the third season on the streaming service is yet to be determined.
00:38With Cobra Kai's move to Netflix now completed,
00:41YouTube is officially out of the scripted TV business.
00:44It's worth noting that when Cobra Kai was originally shopped around,
00:47Netflix and Hulu were among the bidders for the comedy series.
00:50The show ultimately landed at YouTube Red,
00:52where Cobra Kai launched strong out of the gate.
00:54The streamer said the pilot had collected 20 million views
00:57in less than a week since its launch,
00:59prompting a speedy Season 2 renewal.

01:08Cobra Kai is the latest series to get new life at Netflix.
