00:00I'm here. I'm blessed to be talking to you guys. I mean, I'm presenting an amazing movie.
00:04It's called Divorce in the Black, directed by Tyler Perry, starring me and Megan Good.
00:09And y'all in for a good ride July 11th on Amazon Prime. So I'm looking forward to it.
00:13They got the billboards all over the place. And I got my face up there next to Eddie Murphy.
00:17I said, Mama, I made it.
00:19It looks really good. What can you tease about it?
00:21So obviously it's about a couple going through a divorce. But what exactly, what insight can you give us?
00:26Well, you know, we're going through something, you know, as couples that has two families that support each other.
00:32My family is like the crazy side. Hers is more like the sane side. And we clash.
00:37You know, we do clash because we're at odds. But I can say the movie is bigger than what they've seen in a trailer.
00:42You know, there's something in there where you'll see why each family acts the way they do, especially my character.
00:47You know, he's not all just angry or nothing like that. He has a heart.
00:50And it shows why he got to the point where he did in his life.
00:53And, you know, Mr. Tyler Perry, you know, he created a good script for everybody to, you know, be them true, authentic selves.
01:01And I'm just excited for this, for everything. I'm excited.
01:05I'm stepping into some great things in life. And I'm very excited for the future.
01:09You should be. And I know you've been very open about how you were able to channel real emotions for this role.
01:15So, how did you kind of balance your personal life and the movie at the same time?
01:19How did I balance it? I mean, I just put one foot in front of the other.
01:22That's all. I keep God first. I keep it simple. And I keep my head down and keep going.
01:27And I got two amazing children. I mean, everyone's, it's all love.
01:31You know, we have two amazing children.
01:35We have an amazing co-parent relationship.
01:38And it's nothing but love.
01:39And we're each other's biggest cheerleaders, you know.
01:42And we love each other. It's unconditional with us.
01:45You know what I'm saying?
01:46And when it comes to the two kids, what example are you setting for them
01:51when it comes to you being as open as you are with your emotions and your mental health?
01:58Be yourself.
01:59And don't be afraid.
02:00Don't be afraid to tap into those emotions.
02:03You know what I'm saying?
02:03Because at the end of the day, that helps you.
02:06That gives you relief, you know.
02:08You tell somebody you love them.
02:10Shed a tear.
02:10Hug somebody, you know.
02:12That's all it's about.
02:13And that gives you strength.
02:14You get strength from being vulnerable and being honest.
02:17And that's what you should be.
02:18And, yeah, and then you'll be fine.
02:21You know, hard work, dedication.
02:23Hard work, dedication.
02:25And you'll get there, for sure.
02:27And my last question for you is, what do you want your legacy to be?
02:29So, obviously, you've been working and acting for a very long time.
02:33So, at this point in your career, what would you like your legacy to be?
02:37I would say I was a man of service.
02:40And I helped impact and change lives, you know.
02:43And I left a legacy for my children.
02:46Children's children, you know.
02:48And I inspired them to know that you can do all things under the sun.
02:51Keep God first, work hard, and anything's possible.
02:54I will leave that behind.
02:56I love that.
02:57Thank you, Corey.
02:58I appreciate it.
