00:00Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton is addressing all those fan complaints about Jonathan's path.

00:10For your Emmy consideration, the actor who plays Jonathan Byers on Netflix's hit sci-fi series
00:16took part in an interview with British GQ that published online on Monday.
00:21During the interview, Heaton was asked whether he feels his character has been pushed to the sidelines
00:25after some viewers aired out frustrations that Jonathan was not having as much involvement on the show since the second season.
00:32Heaton noted that he's well aware of the chatter, saying,
00:35I've definitely seen some forums like Screen Rant or something. What happened to the character?
00:39It's an ensemble cast. Obviously, every season they've brought in new characters, wonderful characters,
00:44and they've taken the story to different places.
00:47The actor went on to praise the direction of season four, which he likened to Nightmare on Elm Street.
00:51He also teased that the season will test Jonathan's romantic relationship with Nancy Wheeler,
00:56played by Heaton's longtime real-life girlfriend, Natalia Dyer.
01:00We've seen him in a place of questioning himself and his relationship.
01:03You want the people to be invested in them. Sometimes it blurs into one.
01:07Me and Natalia have been together for a long time, so you've even got to separate it yourself sometimes.
01:12Stranger Things, which also stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Millie Bobby Brown,
01:17recently released the first volume of its fourth season on Netflix,
01:20with volume two set to drop July 1st.
