Newly released Epstein files, reported by Drop Site News and documents reviewed by the U.S. House Oversight Committee, reveal reported backchannel communications involving Jeffrey Epstein, Steve Bannon, and references to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. The messages suggest Epstein attempted to facilitate a Bannon–Modi meeting during a period of expanding India–Israel relations.
00:00When we thought the House vote to release the Epstein files would be the
00:12last pin to be pulled, we were wrong.
00:17Another striking and new revelation involves an alleged attempt by Epstein to broker a
00:22meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Trump strategist Steve Bannon
00:27in mid-2019, just weeks before Epstein's arrest.
00:32The emails suggest Epstein pushed for this meeting at a time when India-Israel relations
00:37were rapidly accelerating and when Bannon was becoming one of the most vocal anti-China figures
00:42in US conservative politics.
00:45According to House Oversight Committee documents, the person Epstein was texting in May 2019
00:51is redacted.
00:52But DropSite News reports that the details, including references to Kazakhstan, Chris Kobach,
00:59Brian Kolfage and a non-profit board chairmanship, closely match Steve Bannon's travel and affiliations
01:05at the time.
01:08On May 23, 2019, the day Prime Minister Modi won re-election, Bannon reportedly messaged Epstein.
01:15I'm doing a one-hour show for India on Modi while here, bringing American Hindu guys with us.
01:26Epstein replied.
01:31His focus wants to be stopping China.
01:33One week later, Bannon appeared on India's news channel Wayan, speaking extensively about Modi-U.S.-India strategy
01:43and China's economic rise.
01:45DropSite reports that Epstein pressed again.
01:48Epstein.
01:49I can set. You should meet with Modi.
01:52Bannon.
01:53Please.
01:54Epstein.
01:55When can you do it?
01:57Bannon, who had been fired from the Trump White House two years earlier, still retained influence
02:04in conservative politics and continued advising Trump informally.
02:08DropSite notes that Bannon did not respond to their request for comment.
02:14According to the communications obtained by the House Oversight Committee and reviewed by DropSite.
02:19The day after their conversation, Epstein wrote another message encouraging Bannon to push ahead.
02:25He referenced Bannon's anti-China stance and said,
02:31My guy said to tell you that you are missing a great opportunity.
02:34Look at your underwear.
02:36It either says made in China or made in India.
02:39How is it possible that you guys don't understand shared goals?
02:43Hours later, Epstein sent another message that DropSite quotes as saying,
02:54Modi's office did not respond to DropSite's request for comment.
03:03These exchanges were happening during a period of deepening ties between New Delhi and Tel Aviv.
03:08According to DropSite's reporting and archives from Saipari after state visits in 2017 and 2018,
03:15India signed major arms procurement deals with Israel, including advanced anti-tank and surface-to-air missile systems.
03:23Today, India is the largest buyer of Israeli weapons, and these purchases have continued even during the Israel-Gaza conflict.
03:30DropSite also reports that archived calendars show Epstein corresponding about India-Israel strategic matters with a powerful Indian billionaire who had a joint venture with a state-owned Israeli defense firm,
03:45identified through email metadata as Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Group.
03:50In March 2017, someone whose name was redacted asked Epstein for details on Modi's planned U.S. visit.
04:00Epstein reportedly responded that the trip was part of Israel's strategy and that internal debates were delaying confirmation.
04:07DropSite cites a March 30, 2017 email from an account linked to Anil Ambani.
04:16Ambani forwarded a Business Standard article and wrote,
04:20Dear Jeffrey Info BR Anil,
04:24Epstein allegedly replied,
04:26India-Israel key not for email.
04:28Ambani did not respond to DropSite's request for comment.
04:31Beyond these interactions, DropSite reports that Epstein's private calendars, released by the House Oversight Committee, list multiple appointments with current Indian Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Puri between 2014 and 2017.
04:49These meetings took place after Epstein's prior conviction, and during a time when he was involved in various global dealings connected to Israeli interests.
04:57Puri, a former president of the UN Security Council, met Epstein at least five times.
05:05Some meetings included Tara Rod Larsen, a Norwegian diplomat and close associate of Epstein.
05:11Rod Larsen had, separately, also been connected to Epstein's efforts to broker security arrangements involving Israel and Mongolia, according to earlier DropSite reporting.
05:21In September 2014, Epstein emailed former Obama White House counsel, Catherine Rumler.
05:29This email resurfaced on Indian social media recently after Puri's name appeared in a list of public figures Epstein mentioned in the thread.
05:38One line in the email,
05:39Girls?
05:40Careful I will renew an old habit, led to speculation online that Epstein was referring to trafficking.
05:47DropSite clarifies that this interpretation appears incorrect.
05:52The line was part of a separate internal joke between Epstein and Rumler, not related to the individuals listed.
05:58A senior BJP leader also publicly stated that,
06:01There is no reference whatsoever to anyone being supplied with girls.
06:06Puri has not responded to DropSite's questions.
06:10But the emails confirm that Epstein was engaged in back-channel discussions involving Indian geopolitics during the years of Modi's growing global presence and India's deepening ties with Israel.
06:23Epstein died in a Manhattan jail in August 2019.
06:27One month later, Prime Minister Modi appeared with President Donald Trump at a rally in Houston.
06:34At that event, Modi used the phrase
06:37The comment was widely debated at the time as a possible political endorsement.
06:50For now, the newly released documents from DropSite News, Distributed Denial of Secrets and House Oversight add to the complex, still unresolved picture of Jeffrey Epstein's dealings around the world.
07:05What remains unclear is what Epstein sought, who he was working for, and why he was engaging with political power centres across India, Israel, the US and beyond.
