00:00A young diva knows how to hold the spotlight.
00:06And we go on and on and on.
00:10Wow, okay.
00:12I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna be a star one day.
00:14But a traumatic event...
00:16You gonna pay for that?
00:17...turns her whole world inside out.
00:20What did it look like?
00:22I thought, like, I'm about to be ugly.
00:25It leads her down a twisted path of cyber affairs...
00:29...and sexual rivalries.
00:32Relax.
00:33He's just being nice.
00:35Either you cheating or you doing strange things for cash.
00:39...that will push her...
00:41Come on, Charlie, please, come on.
00:42...and her lovers to their breaking point.
00:45I was panicking, like, get out this door.
00:47Open up. Why aren't you opening up?
00:49Look, look, I'm sorry.
00:50I'm gonna show you where sorry is.
00:52Come on, please.
00:55Not all fairy tales have happy endings.
00:58When love goes wrong, a woman can do the unthinkable.
01:04All right, girl.
01:05Let's go.
01:06Can we jump?
01:07We jump.
01:08At just 14 years old, LaShonda Woodard is already turning heads on the streets of Kankakee, Illinois.
01:26Somebody jump.
01:27Get in there, girl.
01:28As a child, ooh.
01:29I had such a smart mouth.
01:30I was very blunt.
01:31All right, all right.
01:32She's showing y'all.
01:33Like, everyone loves me.
01:34All right, girl.
01:35You got this.
01:36I always wanted to be an actress and a singer.
01:37In the heat of the beat, it rises.
01:39I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna be a star one day.
01:41I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna be a star one day.
01:42Colors of love.
01:43Show me the colors of love.
01:48Girl, you got that.
01:49Hey.
01:50She was very independent, always strong and kind of loud.
01:57That's awesome.
01:58Like, not the next Beyoncé, but better than Beyoncé.
02:03Okay.
02:04She will say what's on her mind.
02:05I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna be a star one day.
02:07I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna be a star one day.
02:09Colors of love.
02:10Show me the colors of love.
02:13Girl, you got that.
02:14Hey.
02:15She was very independent, always strong and kind of loud.
02:19She will say what's on her mind.
02:20No problem.
02:21Not at all.
02:22She don't even care.
02:25But at home, LaShonda, the oldest of three, is vulnerable.
02:30You think these bills are gonna jump up off this table and pay themselves?
02:33What, do you think you're a comedian now?
02:35Huh?
02:36How much does that pay?
02:37Her and my dad was always bickering.
02:39And so we, the kids were in the middle of it.
02:42You know what, James?
02:43What?
02:44We're done.
02:45Done.
02:46Done.
02:47Done is this.
02:48When our home got broken up, to me it was like, man, like, that wasn't the life that
02:57I once lived.
02:59Dr. Casey Jordan is a criminologist who studies violent behavior.
03:04When LaShonda's parents split up, it brings a lot of fear and uncertainty into her life.
03:09The way they interact with each other and share custody can really have an impact on their
03:14children's development.
03:15So, with LaShonda, it could follow her through her teenage years and really impact her view
03:21of what a healthy relationship is.
03:24LaShonda and her younger brother Anthony move across town with their father, leaving their
03:31mother and younger sister behind.
03:33My mom, she loved us to death, but she didn't want to raise all those kids by herself.
03:39I have to ask how you felt about your mom not being around and giving up on you and sending
03:44you to your dads.
03:45I was hurt because I thought my mom didn't want us.
03:48I was hurt.
03:49Isolated from her mother and starved for attention, LaShonda starts to rebel.
04:02Hey.
04:03Hey.
04:04What in the hell were you thinking?
04:07Getting suspended for fighting?
04:08It wasn't my fault.
04:09It wasn't my fault.
04:10It wasn't my fault.
04:11So you want to know what fighting is?
04:12I'll show you what fighting is.
04:13My dad beat the hell out of me.
04:15I told you.
04:16I told you.
04:17He used to take, like, a stench accord and just beat my ass.
04:22Now, you learned your lesson, huh?
04:25Come back.
04:27Get up.
04:28Ain't nothing wrong with you.
04:31Oh, baby.
04:34He just stopped.
04:36He was shocked.
04:37And I hated him for that.
04:39Baby, come here.
04:40Hey, come.
04:41Hey, come.
04:49A week passes, and LaShonda tries to forget about the painful ordeal.
04:54He had no moves.
04:56My brother had this little dance thing.
04:58And, of course, my mom is there.
05:00And she sees me with this Band-Aid across my eye.
05:03What happened to you?
05:05Nothing.
05:06It's nothing.
05:07Did your daddy do this?
05:12She went crazy.
05:14Did you know about this?
05:15No.
05:16No.
05:17She snatched me up right then and there.
05:19Stay right there.
05:22Ain't no shame in my game.
05:23What I wanted to do to him, I know I would have went to jail for him.
05:26The kids are coming with me.
05:28I didn't know this was happening over there.
05:30Really?
05:31We'll see what the police have to say about that.
05:33And we headed out on the phone.
05:35I thought so.
05:38Come on.
05:40You serious?
05:41Come on, team.
05:42Let's go.
05:43LaShonda and her brother move back in with her mom and her younger sister.
05:49Do it like this!
05:52Three years later, 17-year-old LaShonda's life takes another dramatic turn
05:57when her mother gets a new job in Chicago.
06:03I was very concerned because my kids, they was born and raised in Kankakee.
06:13They never knew nothing about Chicago.
06:15And yes, it did kind of scare me.
06:17Barbara imposes a strict no-dating policy on her girls.
06:23Look at that girl, man.
06:25All right.
06:26You got some fans over there already.
06:28I ain't got time for that.
06:30I couldn't like nobody.
06:31I couldn't even stare at nobody.
06:33So, of course, at that age, I'm thinking, oh, he cute.
06:37But that's it.
06:38Hey, what's up, mommy?
06:40What's up?
06:41Oh, look at that.
06:42She looking at me.
06:44You ain't dating at my house.
06:46No.
06:47Uh-uh.
06:48You want to date?
06:49Date.
06:50When you get grown, then get out.
06:51Yeah.
06:52I think I got that.
06:54I was raised her best.
06:55My boyfriend was my books.
06:59Barbara wants her daughters to avoid all the mistakes that teenage girls can make.
07:03So her no-dating policy is extreme, but she's convinced it is the only way to keep her feisty daughter out of trouble.
07:11Despite her mother's rules...
07:13What's up, little mama?
07:14...Lashonda meets a young man named Marcus Manley, a local bad boy with a lot to prove.
07:20Welcome to Chi-town.
07:21Welcome to Chi-town.
07:22Yeah.
07:23You can tell me or somebody.
07:24No, they call me Marcus.
07:26When I first seen Lashonda, I wanted to get to know her.
07:29So what's going on?
07:30What's up with me and you?
07:31Now they got some speaking to her, like, little stuff like, hey, how you doing, cutie, and little compliments.
07:36Me and you?
07:37There is no me and you.
07:38Oh, come on, now.
07:39And I got a man already anyway.
07:41Girl, what your man got to do with me?
07:43He used to follow me.
07:44And I used to, like, I don't like him.
07:46He ugly, and...
07:47He looks like a frog.
07:50Oh, come on, now.
07:51Let me help you take that in.
07:54She tried to push me off and tell me she had a boyfriend and everything.
07:57Hey, hit me up a little later, all right?
07:59Hey, I'm next door, five feet away.
08:02So I just kept playing it smoothly.
08:04Oh, that's dirty, man.
08:06Give me that drink, man.
08:08When you were young, girls liked bad boys.
08:10And at that time, I was a bad boy.
08:12Over the next few weeks, Marcus starts growing on Lashonda.
08:16This one time me and my friends got into this zombie type of makeup thing.
08:20There was just something about him.
08:23Why were you in zombie makeup?
08:25I don't know.
08:26He put a spell over me or something.
08:28A cop showed up right next to us.
08:30And you know we looking like the undead running around and...
08:33He's like me.
08:34He's crazy.
08:35He was very funny.
08:36What's up?
08:37Then I started liking him.
08:39Thank you for walking me.
08:41Oh, it's all good.
08:42Although they aren't dating...
08:44Can I walk you home tomorrow, too?
08:46I guess so.
08:47Lashonda's mother tries to put an end to this budding friendship.
08:51Boy, if you don't get off my porch!
08:54Okay.
08:55Calm down, Mom.
08:56Yes, I went off on him.
08:58I told him to stay the hell away from my house.
09:00I'm just looking.
09:01I'm not buying.
09:02Yeah.
09:03We're gonna sniff somewhere else.
09:04Go.
09:05Okay.
09:06I'll talk to you later.
09:07I really didn't pay attention to her.
09:09I thought she was just old and was just jealous of her daughter.
09:19I'm gonna get that dude.
09:20As the attraction builds...
09:22Hi, Shonda.
09:23Hey, what's happening?
09:24Hey, what's up?
09:25Hold on, hold on, hold on.
09:26Marcus becomes focused on sealing the deal with Lashonda.
09:29Where you going?
09:31Hey.
09:32You need to take that somewhere else, because I'm not that kind of chick.
09:35I'm like, boy, you can get the hell out of my face.
09:36Ain't nothing going on.
09:37Hey, I'm sorry.
09:38Hey.
09:39For real.
09:40I ain't no choice but to respect it.
09:42Hey, I'll take it back.
09:43Well, that just made me more thirsty.
09:46Like, man, I really want to get with her now.
09:51Hey.
09:52Hey.
09:53Hey.
09:54Hey.
09:55Marcus pursues Lashonda for a full year.
09:57Happy birthday, girl.
09:59When her 18th birthday rolls around, she finally decides to let him catch her.
10:05So what you doing later on tonight?
10:07I can now.
10:08Wait.
10:09This is going down.
10:10I mean, you're 18 now.
10:11You can do what you want.
10:12You an adult.
10:13So far, Lashonda has avoided trouble on the streets of Chicago.
10:17But her luck is about to run out.
10:20This girl, Nikki, she comes across the street.
10:25She did not look right to me.
10:27When I seen her, I was kind of in shock because I couldn't believe it.
10:31I'm going to run to the store real quick.
10:32Want me to get you something?
10:33No.
10:34I definitely didn't want any one of them to figure out that they got something in common.
10:37I'll see you in a second, all right?
10:39And so, I left.
10:40I'm out here in Shawtown.
10:42Yeah.
10:43Want a girl to get down.
10:45Oh.
10:46Nikki approaches.
10:47Lashonda.
10:48Lashonda learns exactly what they have in common.
10:51That's my baby daddy, and we're about to get married.
10:54Baby?
10:55I don't know nothing about that.
10:56Well, he didn't tell me that, you know.
10:57That ain't what he said, but if that's your man, you could have him.
11:01But Nikki has no interest in Lashonda's side of the story.
11:04You a ho.
11:05I ain't no ho.
11:06You want to fight over here?
11:08And Lashonda's had enough.
11:12We are fighting.
11:13We are getting down.
11:14Yeah.
11:15I see a lot of people coming around.
11:17Yeah.
11:18That's what you get.
11:20Then there was two people on each of my arms, and I'm thinking they're trying to pull me up off her.
11:27But these strangers aren't Lashonda's friends.
11:30There with Nikki.
11:31What you doing?
11:32You got to go with my arms.
11:33You going to pay for that, bitch?
11:34Call me down.
11:35Here, Nikki.
11:36Yeah.
11:57Nikki had a boss cutter.
11:59Somebody get help, folks.
12:00When I looked down, well, it was just coming out.
12:04What did it look like?
12:06My face was wide, like, it was wide open.
12:19My face was a mess.
12:21The only thing I thought, like, I'm about to be ugly.
12:28When Lashonda returns home from the hospital, the trauma from the attack begins to sink in.
12:34I'm just looking in the mirror and crying.
12:35Like, why?
12:36Why me?
12:37I had, like, 70 stitches in my face.
12:38I was depressed.
12:39Can you show me?
12:40In a moment of desperation, Lashonda makes a silent promise to herself.
12:47If I get into anybody, I'm going to get you before you get me.
12:48No one's going to hurt you.
12:49No one's going to hurt you.
12:50No one's going to hurt me.
12:51No one's going to hurt you.
12:52No one's going to hurt me.
12:53Because I'm going to hurt you before you hurt me.
12:55Trust me.
12:56It's understandable that this attack has left Lashonda shaken and reeling.
13:01But she's taking away the wrong lesson.
13:03Instead of focusing on how she will defend herself in the future, she needs to focus on
13:06who she can trust.
13:07Now that she's armed, she's armed, she's beaten up into the wrong place.
13:11She made a difference.
13:12She makes a promise to her.
13:13She makes a silent promise to herself.
13:14If I get into anybody, I'm going to get you before you get me.
13:15No one's going to hurt you.
13:16No one's going to hurt you.
13:17No one's going to help me.
13:18Cause I'm going to hurt you before you hurt me.
13:19Trust me.
13:20It's understandable that this attack has left Lashonda shaken and reeling.
13:25Now that she's armed and angry,
13:27I worry that she is heading down a dangerous path.
13:32Marcus waits for the dust to settle.
13:36Then shows up on LaShonda's doorstep.
13:41What you want?
13:43Can we talk?
13:44And what happened when you finally saw Marcus?
13:46I couldn't really, so much look in his face
13:48because I was embarrassed.
13:50Your mama here?
13:51No, you got a few minutes.
13:52She's at the store.
13:53I was kind of in shock
13:55because I didn't know the severity of it.
13:57You good?
13:58No, I ain't good.
13:59Hey.
14:00I kept telling him, like,
14:02it don't affect me, now you're still pretty.
14:03I still love you.
14:05It's not going to change the way I look at you.
14:07I'm sorry.
14:08That's when it really kicked in and I felt real guilty.
14:14Tell you how I feel and whatnot.
14:19That's pretty seductive.
14:21A man who feels responsible because it was his ex-girlfriend.
14:25That's how you feel.
14:26Yeah.
14:27I mean, I think any girl in your situation
14:31would be a sucker for that.
14:32I was.
14:33I was a blow pop for that.
14:34I was.
14:37I was.
14:39Then I got you something.
14:41LaShonda is in a pit of depression and self-pity.
14:44Because of this very disfiguring facial scar,
14:48Marcus takes advantage of that vulnerability
14:50at a time when, really, LaShonda
14:52should have nothing more to do with him.
14:55You need to keep that on all the time.
14:58It protects you always.
15:00He really lifted me up.
15:02I was at my lowest.
15:04I was depressed.
15:05I felt ugly.
15:07And he just, you're not ugly.
15:09You're beautiful.
15:11And I feel for that.
15:13I feel for it.
15:18So I'm thinking, wow, he really loved me.
15:22We finally get to go out.
15:24I'm so excited.
15:25Their bond grows stronger,
15:26and they finally start dating.
15:28It just became official that we became a couple,
15:30and everybody knew it, and I fell in love with him.
15:34Back to my house just to chill.
15:36Quick taste.
15:38You took the lid off the cookie jar, though.
15:40Oh, yeah, then.
15:41I'm like, I want to know why I almost died.
15:44Let me see what this is all about.
15:49It's everything she hoped it would be.
15:52And for the next several months,
15:54the couple lives in carnal bliss.
15:56But for Marcus, his passion quickly devolves into jealousy.
16:01I was really concerned about her leaving me for somebody else.
16:05Plenty of times I told her, like, don't go outside.
16:08What the hell is that?
16:09What you doing?
16:10Don't worry about that.
16:11What's good?
16:12I would go in her room and take her clothes
16:14so she wouldn't get dressed.
16:15So we're shutting it up.
16:16What?
16:17We knew some friends.
16:18We're going out.
16:19She's trying to see if she want to come with us.
16:20What you mean?
16:21The moment I gave it up, oh, I was all his.
16:23I mean, why you tripping?
16:24It's a wrap.
16:26Yeah, it's a wrap.
16:27You trying to claim mine?
16:28I ain't trying to claim shit, bro.
16:29Marcus!
16:30Marcus!
16:31Bring my clothes back here!
16:33I belong to him.
16:35In his mind.
16:36Yes.
16:42Marcus!
16:43Bring me my clothes back.
16:44Hey, don't worry about your clothes.
16:45What you need your clothes for?
16:46Because I get ready to go.
16:47We can watch a movie all day.
16:48I don't want to stay here and watch a movie.
16:50Why not?
16:51And you acting crazy.
16:52Then, LaShonda hears her mother fighting with her new boyfriend.
16:56We're staying.
16:57Get your hands off of me.
16:59Stop!
17:00That's my mom.
17:01Don't worry about that.
17:02Don't worry about that.
17:03Move out of my way.
17:04Put that back.
17:05Oh, hell no way.
17:07My mom, you calm down.
17:09He tells me it's not none of my business.
17:11Hey, woman, you better back up right now.
17:13This my mom.
17:14Do you watch your mom get beat?
17:15I'm not going to watch my mom get beat.
17:17I'm out of my way.
17:18You better calm down.
17:19In a flash of rage, Marcus grabs LaShonda.
17:23Let go!
17:24He's dragging me like you ain't had nothing to do with that.
17:26I told you.
17:27Listen to me.
17:28Be quiet.
17:29LaShonda, she got like a little certain look.
17:32Let go!
17:33Shut up and listen.
17:34You never listen.
17:35And she just flip out.
17:38Whoa, whoa, whoa.
17:40Get the hell off me.
17:41Whoa!
17:42Crazy?
17:43No, you crazy.
17:45Now, I'm going to show you.
17:46You're going to pay me.
17:47Really?
17:48I honestly felt like she was going to kill me.
17:50Put it down.
17:53Hard ass.
17:54No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
17:57He grabbed the knife from me.
17:58Chill.
17:59Marcus.
18:00And he put the knife up to my throat.
18:02Put the knife down.
18:03Shut up.
18:04Told me he was going to kill me.
18:05Stop.
18:06No, no, no, no, no.
18:13Wait.
18:14I'll go.
18:15I'll go.
18:16No, no, no, no, no, no.
18:17Who's in control now?
18:18He was clear that he was crazy, and it looked like he was going to kill me.
18:22Oh, no.
18:23No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
18:24Who's in control now?
18:25It was clear that he was crazy, and it looked like he was going to kill me.
18:27She was going to kill me.
18:36And he just get to beat my ass.
18:42Look what you made me do!
18:44She was like dazed, but she was more in shock that I hit her.
18:50That's what you get.
18:51And I'm just on the floor crying like, why did you do me like this?
18:54I knew she was hurt, but I wasn't trying to stick around to pay her no attention.
19:06A week later, LaShonda begins having sharp abdominal pains.
19:12I was in so much pain.
19:14My back and my stomach was hurt and I was having cramps.
19:20The worst pains ever.
19:24LaShonda immediately goes to the hospital.
19:27Hi, sweetie.
19:28Where she receives devastating news.
19:31How are you?
19:33All right.
19:34LaShonda, I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell you,
19:38but you've had some complications with your pregnancy.
19:42My pregnancy?
19:44You didn't know you were pregnant?
19:46I did not even know it.
19:52And it hurted me to the core.
19:58I lost my baby.
20:06LaShonda returns home to share the tragic news with Marcus.
20:09I knew you'd be back.
20:16Look, you need to see this.
20:18She showed me the paperwork from the hospital.
20:21That's your problem.
20:24Deal with it.
20:25It hurted me, but I didn't want to let her know that it hurted me.
20:29Anything else you want?
20:31You know what?
20:33LaShonda is sickened by Marcus's response.
20:36Forget you.
20:38And cuts him out of her life for good.
20:41I hated him.
20:44I hated him.
20:45I didn't want to talk to him anymore.
20:47You were done.
20:48I was done.
20:49Alone and depressed, LaShonda keeps her secret locked inside.
20:59What's the matter, baby?
21:01And it's not the kind of thing you want to tell your mom?
21:04Oh, no.
21:05She would have disapproved.
21:06I was going to take you to the grave.
21:08There's nothing wrong?
21:10I don't know if that's good.
21:12Well, what happened?
21:13Trauma.
21:14She's a cry all the time.
21:16It's like a lot of anger in her.
21:19A lot of anger.
21:20All right.
21:23Well, that whole attitude changed.
21:26Like, I don't give a hell about nothing.
21:31Oh, I'm so sick of it here.
21:33I do everything.
21:35But keeping this secret from her mother
21:37increases the tension at home.
21:3918 years old.
21:40I don't care.
21:40You don't act like it.
21:42And before long, they're arguing nearly every day.
21:46I'm not going to be a grandmother.
21:48I love her to the death.
21:50But me and LaShonda can't stay in the same room together.
21:52You know what?
21:53Then, Barbara says something she can't take back.
21:57That bitch should have killed you.
22:00That killed me inside.
22:12LaShonda moves out of her mother's house, leaving a wake of painful memories behind.
22:19I don't need it.
22:20I'm too young to be going through the things that I am going through.
22:24I'm too young for it.
22:25I never even had a childhood at all.
22:29Between LaShonda's secret about the miscarriage and her mother's constant cruelty, their ability
22:34to love and trust each other is completely compromised.
22:44LaShonda refuses to let her mother's rejection destroy her future.
22:49LaShonda moves to the outskirts of Chicago and spends the next five years rebuilding her life.
22:59I ended up moving out of town.
23:02I got my own apartment.
23:04I was working.
23:05I was going to school.
23:06Down we go.
23:11Didn't nobody believe in me, but I did it.
23:14I did it by myself.
23:15Down we go.
23:18LaShonda pays the bills as a waitress.
23:21Braiding.
23:22But she spends her free time pursuing her passion.
23:25I know how to braid.
23:28What were you studying?
23:30Cosmetology.
23:31Yes.
23:32I went.
23:33Your face just lit up.
23:34Cos I loved it.
23:35I'm like this girly, girly type.
23:38I love my hair and my lashes, my nails.
23:41And I'm like, I want to go learn how to do this.
23:46As LaShonda reclaims her life, she decides to update her Facebook profile and gets a welcome
23:53surprise.
23:54I'm just going down my timeline and this guy that I hadn't seen in so long, he writes
24:01on my wall, hey beautiful.
24:03What's his name?
24:04Antonio.
24:05That's exactly what I say.
24:07Even though Antonio lives an hour away in Kankakee.
24:11I love talking to you actually.
24:13Me too.
24:15LaShonda decides to stay in touch.
24:17Hey, can I ask you something?
24:18Yeah.
24:19Would you pray with me?
24:20It'll be short.
24:21I'd love to pray together.
24:22Alright.
24:23Antonio is a spiritual guy.
24:24Very.
24:25Almost like a therapist.
24:26Yes, he was my Dr. Phil.
24:27My Oprah.
24:28Dear Heavenly Father, I want to ask you to keep your eyes over LaShonda.
24:30I just tried to do everything I could to uplift her and bring her up to par.
24:37Praise you, Jesus.
24:38In Jesus' name, amen.
24:39Amen.
24:40We was talking on the phone, like two, three hours.
24:41You know, I even go to sleep with her.
24:42You know, I even go to sleep with her and go to sleep with her.
24:43You know.
24:44You're a spiritual guy.
24:45You're a spiritual guy.
24:46Very.
24:47You're a spiritual guy.
24:48Very.
24:49Almost like a therapist.
24:50Yes, he was my Dr. Phil.
24:51My Oprah.
24:52Dear Heavenly Father, I want to ask you to keep your eyes over LaShonda.
24:55I just tried to do everything I could to uplift her and bring her up to par.
24:58You know, I even go to sleep with her on the phone.
25:01So, I mean, it was cool.
25:03Like, LaShonda most definitely got a good heart.
25:07As their relationship heats up, Antonio starts to feel the distance.
25:15Hey.
25:16Hey.
25:17Hey, I'm sorry I missed your call.
25:19I was like, okay, I want you to come out here with me and be with me.
25:24Really?
25:25No, seriously.
25:26Like, I want you to stay with me.
25:28Those was the worst I wanted to hear.
25:29Sounded like great music to my ears.
25:31So, you're falling for him.
25:32Oh, yeah.
25:33I'm falling for him.
25:34I'm strong.
25:35I'd love to.
25:36Okay.
25:37LaShonda craves normalcy.
25:41She has spent the last several years recovering from the string of traumas.
25:45Now that she's totally enamored with her spiritual boyfriend, it really begs the question, how
25:50well does she know Antonio?
25:52Keep your eyes closed.
25:53Okay.
25:54Antonio receives LaShonda with open arms.
25:58Wait right here.
25:59Wait right here.
26:00Where are you taking me?
26:02And has a big surprise up his sleeve.
26:05Can I open my eyes now?
26:06Yes, you can open your eyes.
26:07Oh my God.
26:08Yeah.
26:09I like the chocolate.
26:10You like the chocolate?
26:11But where are we?
26:12This is ours, baby.
26:13This is our place?
26:14For real.
26:15For real.
26:16You got a new place.
26:17We started from the bottom.
26:18We didn't have no furniture, no plates, no anything, but we made things happen.
26:33Look, we got our own backyard.
26:35LaShonda embraces her new home.
26:37Look, we got all this space.
26:39And you've got to see the kitchen.
26:41And dreams of the life she and Antonio will build together.
26:44But LaShonda's new life with Antonio begins to look like a mistake when she makes a disturbing discovery.
26:57What?
26:58What is that?
27:00Oh, hell no.
27:01I was cleaned up and I stumbled across a gun.
27:05A gun in your apartment?
27:07A gun.
27:08A gun.
27:09A gun.
27:10LaShonda fears that her new man is not all he appears to be.
27:15Oh, hell no.
27:16LaShonda Woodard wonders what her dream man could be hiding.
27:22This one right here.
27:23Call Antonio.
27:24What's a gun doing in your house?
27:25I had no idea, but I was going to get to the bottom of that.
27:27Hey.
27:28What's up?
27:29Guess what I found in the drawer.
27:30I don't know what you're talking about.
27:31Mm-hmm.
27:32She tried to ask me to get rid of her, but I'm not getting rid of this gun.
27:33You gotta understand, it's not safe out here, okay?
27:36man could be hiding this one right here call Antonio what's a gun doing in your
27:44house I had no idea but I was gonna get to the bottom of that hey guess what I
27:50found in the drawer she tried to ask me to get rid of her but I'm not getting
27:59rid of this gun a gun in the house is a huge red flag but LaShonda is so desperate for love and
28:15acceptance that she decides to let it slide she is blind to the fact that she is placing her
28:22future in the hands of a man that she really knows nothing about it's as if she learned nothing from
28:27her relationship with Marcus within a few weeks their relationship is tested once again hey baby
28:36what you doing homeschool early the warehouse made some cutbacks and I didn't make the cut oh we always
28:46find a way come here I don't want to be back on the streets so I'm stressing like damn I wish these
28:54jobs will call me I wish something will happen as the pair struggled to find a job an unusual
29:05opportunity falls right into LaShonda's lap I was on Facebook and this girl she posted up she had this
29:16sugar daddy what's a sugar daddy a man that gives a younger woman money and spoils her the guy has
29:23sent her like forty five hundred dollars what and I was like damn but for doing what LaShonda claims she
29:29had never done nothing with him at all but I was like this can't be true it seems a little shady
29:38but LaShonda is overcome with curiosity so I signed up and then I ran across this one guy
29:49and what's his name Clifford his name is Clifford that's what I'm talking about he was in his 50s I
30:02told him everything I was going through a week after we started talking I woke up to a text message
30:09saying go get your money hon I sent you a thousand dollars
30:14hey baby hey babe LaShonda returns home with the cash
30:21our problems are solved how'd you get this she comes clean to Antonio it's nothing it's just texting
30:29maybe all right but you're not seeing this guy okay no I told him I had a sugar daddy wait a minute
30:36and he's okay with that yeah I was very honest and open with them okay I was a little frustrated but
30:46at the same time she made things happen I was just so happy that the money was coming in
30:52as deviant as the sugar daddy thing is LaShonda has actually found a way to pay the bills still she
31:05needs to be careful because most sugar daddy relationships go way beyond texting and if
31:09that ends up happening with LaShonda her relationship with Antonio is over oh wow you did all this for
31:21me oh yeah you know it baby happy Valentine's Day even though Clifford's come to her rescue LaShonda's
31:27heart belongs to Antonio and on Valentine's Day he pulls out all the stops following I was stressed
31:43for cash so I had to do what I could do romantically for both of us I came back home that was rose petals
31:53through the hallway in our room all on our bed spelled out I heart you in rose petals it was so sweet
32:03he's cooking making me some steak and shrimp and stuff I was like oh
32:14next thing I know we hear something at the door hey babe can you get that it was a delivery man
32:22oh wow I love him baby thank you who the hell is that from I'm thinking it's from Antonio
32:28quit playing hey I'm not playing who the hell is that from so now I'm looking crazy who is it from
32:33you really didn't send me this man I didn't get you none of these who you're from there's a card
32:38and there's cash in there that punk ass Clifford and I was like oh lord it's about to be problems now
32:45relax okay to Antonio flowers from Clifford suggest the arrangement has moved
32:52beyond flirty text messages either you cheating are you doing strange things for cash
32:58what the hell that's my stuff how do you break my stuff you break my stuff
33:02stupid bitch I'm stupid chocolate no I'll show you no I'll show you

41:11and they see a woman with her mouth busted open
41:14Tion is arrested on a domestic assault charge and spends the night in jail
41:21both decide not to press charges
41:24she thought that me getting arrested would teach me a lesson
41:29and it did
41:30absolutely
41:32but Tion's punishment is not enough for LaShonda
41:38she breaks it off and never looks back
41:41LaShonda is a strong woman
41:44but she's also a dangerous woman
41:46the fact that she's attacked three men with a knife
41:49and has never been arrested is amazing
41:51but if she wants to stay out of prison in the future
41:54LaShonda needs to find another way to resolve conflict
42:00after the stabbing LaShonda moves to Galveston, Texas
42:03to build a new life
42:06although it can be lonely
