Anne Rice's Talamasca_ The Secret Order - Season 1 Episode 6 - The 752
Transcript
00:00Previously on Tala Masca.
00:17You're going to use a 752 to bring down the Tala Masca?
00:20Once and for all.
00:20Are you even sure you know what you're looking for?
00:22I need two exit packs.
00:24I'm getting out of here and I'm taking someone with me.
00:26Who?
00:26Doris, you don't know her.
00:27You'll need a passport photo and an alias.
00:30Your mother's been in hiding 16 years now.
00:32What's it going to take for her to come out into the light?
00:34You're looking for something like something more than just the book.
00:38I need you to find someone for me.
00:40My sister is all I have.
00:42I'll do anything to find her.
00:43Do you understand?
00:55Oh, come on.
00:57You're taking a business.
00:59You and I both know that's not who they really are.
01:02These are con artists.
01:05Grifters.
01:05How can you say that?
01:06They're helping people.
01:08Where are we going?
01:08Helping groupies into the back of their disease-ridden limos is who they're helping.
01:13I mean, we are the world?
01:15More like you're a bunch of coked-up pop stars who can't even sing on...
01:19What are we doing down here?
01:20Why won't the deputy minister see me in his office?
01:22Deputy minister?
01:25Oh, you're way past him, mate.
01:27Oh, way past him.
01:30Well, here we are.
01:34Good luck.
01:35Who are you?
01:56Well, my name is Hausman.
02:03Do you know why you're here?
02:07Well, it has come to our attention that you murdered two vampires in Marseille last week.
02:14Your wife and her lover.
02:18They had it coming.
02:20Oh, I'm sure they did.
02:22Codney act.
02:23Jealousy.
02:24Rage.
02:26Et cetera, et cetera.
02:27And I'm sure the surviving members of the coven will be forgiving about the entire business.
02:34I can hardly wait to discuss it with them.
02:38There's no reason to do that.
02:40Oh, on the contrary.
02:42There is every reason.
02:45It's the Talamasca's bread and butter.
02:48It's what we do.
02:50You brought me all the way here just to tell me that.
02:54Oh, no, no, no.
02:56No, I brought you here to demonstrate our vast benevolence.
03:02To offer you a way out.
03:25What the hell is this?
03:29I think you see what it is.
03:32You want me to kill her?
03:35Kill her?
03:37Please.
03:39I'm not a monster.
03:41Why me?
03:43Because you are just good enough.
03:47And no better.
03:48This is against everything my kind believes.
04:01It isn't who we are.
04:03Who you are is a murderer in a tight spot.
04:13Something for something, my friend.
04:18Quid pro quo.
04:20For naught and everything, I am so good.
04:32I don't want to die again.
04:35I don't want to die again.
04:38I really wanna die.
04:39I don't wanna die.
04:42Who you?
04:42Hell man.
06:12I can't find it.
06:31And there's no sign of our chump or his mystery girl.
06:35Where is it?
06:51Come on.
07:11Come on.
07:12It's not here.
07:16All right.
07:25Just this then.
07:29Cheers.
07:30What are you doing?
07:33Leaving.
07:34Just like that?
07:36Yes.
07:36I don't want you to get hurt.
07:41We can't just run off together.
07:43Why not?
07:45Guy.
07:45What?
07:46This rain...
07:47...has occurred on a houseboat here at the Maidavelle Canal.
07:49As you can see, multiple metropolitan police units are on the scene and, of course,
07:55surrounding area.
07:55Orus?
07:56You've got to be kidding me.
08:19Rich, for Christ's sake.
08:22Did they call you on this?
08:23I heard it from dispatch.
08:24Yeah, that's what I thought.
08:27Half was spouting off around the station last night.
08:30You went around and won that DNA from Epworth Lane?
08:33You ain't happy?
08:34Is he ever happy?
08:36He's your boss, ain't he?
08:38Do yourself a favour, stick to your knitting for a couple of days.
08:40Come on, Marty.
08:42I just want to look around.
08:43You might regret that.
08:45Looks like some dogs or something got in there.
08:48It's a real mess.
08:53Let the leads at first crack before you go shoving your nose in.
08:56Give them an hour or two, yeah?
08:57I'm just going to go.
09:27It shouldn't have been me.
09:32What the hell are you talking about?
09:34This is what happens when people get close to me.
09:37First Kevis.
09:39Now the witches.
09:41Hey!
09:46I need you both to come with me.
09:50Now.
09:57Hey! Move it!
10:13Hey! Move it!
10:27This is fucking bullshit.
10:38On what basis are you taking us in?
10:40Save your breath.
10:41No, seriously.
10:42We'll take it down word for word at the station.
10:45Really?
10:46In you go.
10:50This way.
10:57Don't go straight if you want to run to me.
11:02You think?
11:03No.
11:05No.
11:06No.
11:07You don't have to wait.
11:08I'm alive.
11:09You don't lie.
11:10I'm alive.
11:11You're alive.
11:12I'm alive.
11:14You're alive.
11:16You're alive.
11:17I've got to go.
11:18I've got to go.
11:19No.
11:20No.
11:21No.
11:22No.
11:24No.
11:25No.
11:26No.
11:27may i help you i'm here to see dr jameson oh i'm sorry there's no one here by that name
11:37oh cute dr melville then my white whale i'm here from amsterdam i didn't receive any call
11:46from amsterdam of course you didn't this is that call we can get on the horn and rouse an elder at
11:51headquarters if you prefer but i guarantee by the end of that conversation you'll be on your way to
11:55cleaning bedpans at the field clinic in winnipeg let her in patricia
12:01and then there's one of you following the man who wound up dead next to kevis papadoris
12:25and kevis well her best friend that's you lives on a houseboat and made a veil
12:30same houseboat which happens to be the scene of a mass murder
12:36same houseboat i found the two of you looking down at this morning just hours after the crime
12:42never seen those trainers before in your life hey
12:46it's been a long time some tea please patricia can we get you anything no thank you why don't you have
12:58a seat and we can talk what a good idea it's all circumstantial everything you're saying i don't know
13:05anything about any of these murders and neither does doris and all i'm hearing is coincidences and
13:11guesses but not a shred of forensic evidence that ties either of us to a crime forensic evidence
13:16perhaps not but photographic evidence
13:19well who's this
13:22no idea
13:25no idea
13:27i'm sorry
13:28it doesn't ring a bell
13:31ding ding ding
13:44tell me what happened to my sister
13:48i don't know
13:50i haven't known for years
13:52they kicked me out of the program once my utility had been exhausted
13:57just like the telemasqueray use you for what they need and then toss you aside
14:06what was the program before what did you want with emma
14:11i suppose you have a right to know
14:14you can have five more photos like this or five thousand it wouldn't matter
14:23clever clogs what's that mean
14:25it means that we don't have to explain these pictures
14:29or who we're friends with or how we like our eggs because the law presumes that we didn't do a
14:34damn thing but hey if you think that you've got enough evidence here to convince the jury to
14:39convict us of murder based on some blurry pictures of me kind of sort of maybe in the same vicinity as
14:46this lady i mean best of luck
14:52the program was created to identify children of outsized talent
14:56your sister proved to be the most talented of all
15:00because of her memory
15:01yes it was extraordinary
15:03unnatural
15:06you could ask her how many bricks there were in a building she'd walked past two days before
15:10or the precise weather for any day of her life she was always right she could remember passages from
15:17any text and then entire books verbatim after reading them only once that's when we took her to
15:25amsterdam where her training really began she was exactly what we'd been looking for
15:32last night i received a dna report on hair blood and skin gathered at clevis bobadoris's flat but
15:40belonging to neither victim belonging instead to a third person for the first 10 years she flourished
15:47it was a miracle watching what she took in flourished emma grew up alone in amsterdam without
15:54her family why would you do that to her she's not like the rest of us not anymore and she hasn't been
16:01called emma since she left london okay my dna would be on kevis should be okay we were
16:08we were together the night before she was killed well that's a wrinkle to add to my elbow but
16:19dna wasn't yours belongs to your friend helen's her name right now does it ring about
16:32it's her dna that's all over the flat we let your sister pick a new name she called herself
16:39doris doris doris
16:59you're not gonna charge us with a crime i can tell
17:03that means that you can't hold us come on doris we're going with all that fancy latin falling out
17:10your pockets i'm sure you passed the american bar with flying colors but on my side of the pond i can
17:16arrest you and hold you for 24 hours on suspicion of perverting the course of justice so do me a favor
17:21i'll be taking over from here
17:38there was unrest in the talabasca if leadership hadn't done what they did the organization would
17:54have been torn apart long ago from within by those who wished to use all our knowledge for evil
18:01once we had a safe backup we had to destroy all the original texts and information in order to
18:07protect the greater good the 752 worked the program was a success
18:27that's what you've done
18:42if nothing else i'm the one who brought these two in i'm the one who's been working this case
18:48you put the damn pieces together you can't just enough bargain you're the one that pitched all
18:53over the command chain that's what you've done i have my broad controllers order and assigned approval
18:59of a real direct supervisor one question if i called mi5 right now and asked them to verify
19:05an agent wakefield what would they say because they're professionals they'll say they've never
19:09heard of an agent wakefield but if you give them this badge number along with my verification password
19:15zephyr you'll be connected to my section chief phone number's on the back
19:23rich if i were you i wouldn't get near that phone right come on you two
19:35you
20:00where's helen we were supposed to meet her where
20:03waterloo she has our passports guy listen i think it's a trap
20:10we can't trust helen anymore i'm sorry she's betrayed us all
20:26it's right there she has it she has the fucking body
20:33it's called
20:45doris
20:56okay
20:59Wait! Wait! No!
21:13Wait!
21:16I need to go.
21:29Shut the booth! What are you doing? Daylight!
21:37Jesus.
21:59Helen?
22:09Jay, I need your help. Can you talk?
22:12You'll be on your own.
22:13Helen, Helen, stop.
22:15It'll poll as a red notice out for you for a double murder.
22:18Yeah, you matched your DNA.
22:20How did they get my DNA?
22:21And they want you in for questioning about a mass killing in Maida Vale.
22:25What the hell is going on?
22:29Olive.
22:59Oh.
23:01I'm sorry.
23:06Otherwise, you get hurt and you can't
23:20know more about babysitters and resources.
23:25Guy, what are you doing?
23:34You can let me out now.
23:43Can you hear me?
23:45Guy!
23:46What the fuck?
23:47Guy!
23:55It's just a scrapbook.
23:57That's exactly what I told you.
24:00You didn't tell me what you are?
24:05Does it change anything?
24:08Yes.
24:11I don't understand.
24:12If you're a vampire, how do you hide your...
24:25When we first met, you called me a liar.
24:32I'm not sure what that makes you.
24:34Well, now you see.
24:37Now you understand why I have...
24:38Just stop, okay?
24:39We're getting out of the country and we're going our separate ways, you understand?
24:45Guy.
24:46Would you just tell me the truth?
24:55I wouldn't know where to start.
25:07If you can't tell me, show me.
25:12Let me in.
25:14Guy.
25:17Let me in.
25:25I was taken from home when I was very young.
25:45My parents were both dead.
25:47My sister and I were separated.
25:50I was taken to Amsterdam.
25:52I spent most of my time inside a library.
25:55The books, the knowledge, it was everything I wanted.
26:01And then they took it all away.
26:03They said it was inside me.
26:06That they didn't need the books.
26:08Because I was the library now.
26:11The 752 isn't a book guy.
26:19It's you.
26:19After the fire, everything changed.
26:28Talamasca minders would come to extract information.
26:31They told me that I was a vital part of some mission to keep the peace between the mortal and the immortal worlds.
26:38And then, when I was old enough, they made me into what I am today.
26:45So that they could keep me forever.
26:47And use me forever.
26:49They moved me from Amsterdam.
26:51They hid me.
26:53I had no one.
26:54I was miserable.
26:55I was a tool.
26:57I didn't even know what for.
26:58But you're powerful.
26:59Couldn't you just...
26:59No, they'd made me into a vampire, but a weak one.
27:03I was immortal, yes.
27:04But I couldn't freeze time or read other people's minds.
27:09I felt trapped.
27:10I had to get out.
27:12And you escaped.
27:13Yeah.
27:14And then I met Kevis.
27:17She had just lost her mum.
27:19And she was just a kid.
27:20So I took care of her.
27:24Watched her grow up.
27:26She gave my life meaning.
27:30When she found out that people were getting close to me, like Archie, she couldn't help but get involved.
27:46You killed Archie.
27:50But I was too late to save Kevis.
28:20And then you showed up.
28:38Kevis got hurt because she got close to me.
28:41The witches were massacred because they took me in.
28:43And now I have hurt my sister.
28:46Because the police think that she is the one who killed Archie.
28:50Your sister.
28:55Alan.
28:56Fiona.
28:57To me.
28:58I was Emma back then.
29:01They tried to change everything about us.
29:03They tried to wipe away everything about who we were.
29:08But they couldn't.
29:10Because we're identical twins.
29:12And twins share an awful lot.
29:15Including our blood.
29:19The detective had the right DNA.
29:22But the wrong twin.
29:26Does she know?
29:28That you're, um...
29:31What...
29:34You are?
29:35I know everything in every single book I've ever read.
29:40But I have no idea what my sister knows about me.
29:47We're about to find out.
29:48Yes.
30:00Director Housman.
30:03Intercepted an all ports warning, sir.
30:05Well, there you are.
30:20They're going to try and flee the country of what agents found out across the city.
30:25And what about the other thing?
30:27Yes.
30:31He's...
30:32Served his purpose.
30:35Let us...
30:37Straight to her.
30:39The team is standing by.
30:45Clean it up.
30:57All right.
31:00Are you okay?
31:03It's just...
31:06I thought that if I found the book, the 752, that maybe I would get closer to finding my mom.
31:11Excuse me.
31:14Yeah, we're getting out.
31:19Where are you?
31:20The girl's a damn vampire.
31:23She killed Highsmith.
31:25They're on their way to Waterloo.
31:27Now.
31:29And...
31:30They have the 752.
31:32I'm coming back to you.
31:42We got him.
31:44I've had enough of this.
31:46You've gone too far.
31:47The fuck are you yapping about?
31:49I know what you did in Maida Vale and I won't put up with any more of it.
32:09You won't put up with any more of it?
32:12No, I will not.
32:14And...
32:16What exactly are you going to do?
32:20File a grievance form?
32:22Bury me in org charts?
32:28What power...
32:30Exactly?
32:32Do you think you possess?
32:34It's not mine to possess.
32:36That's how powerful it is.
32:38You've no idea what you're toying with, Jasper.
32:49You are a flea...
32:51Bouncing off the hard dick...
32:53Of our immortal history.
32:55And you landed...
32:57Under a fucking tidal wave.
32:59Tidal wave.
33:01And yet I stand.
33:02Tidal wave.
33:04And yet I stand.
33:05You have to be a big part of that.
33:07I have to keep that console out.
33:08You can escape.
33:10I guess I have to.
33:11You are a flea...
33:12You're you're so-
33:13You'reçeering.
33:14No, you're so-
33:15You're so-

34:46Come on.
34:48In here.
34:52Okay?
34:58Yeah.
35:24Hey.
35:26Isn't that the one from New York?
35:28Come on.
35:48Can you see her?
35:50Excuse me.
35:54Excuse me.
35:56Excuse me.
35:58I'm so sorry to bother you.
36:00I need the police.
36:02Sorry?
36:03I'm wanted.
36:04Why?
36:05For a devil matter.
36:06Ah.
36:07Very funny, ma'am.
36:08Be on the other line, please.
36:10Is this funny?
36:12Is this funny?
36:20Wait.
36:22Wait.
36:23They'll see you.
36:24Shh.
36:26I'm so sorry.
36:28Just pull the gun out of these sessions, right?
36:32Let's who feed you all.
36:34Okay?
36:35Let's go.
36:36Wait.
36:37They'll see you.
36:38Shh.
36:39I'm so sorry.
36:41I'm so sorry.
36:45Let's just pull the gun out of me so she went to two feet.
37:11I'm so sorry.
37:41You are a very gifted guy.
37:44I do know that you care about me.
37:48If I want you to know something, you will.

38:57I'm so sorry.
39:00I want to be right back.
39:03What are you doing?
39:09I don't know.
39:19Sorry.
39:27I'm sorry.
39:40Right way.
39:41Oh, Rich.
39:42I thought you were sleeping in the doghouse.
39:44That's just tough.
39:46Butterfly flaps its wings and leeds.
39:48He goes from hugging you to kicking you.
39:50I'm doing the grunt work.
39:51You know how it is.
39:52I'll take her in.
39:57Watch your heads.
40:16You don't look much like a homicidal maniac, do you?
40:21It's always a mistake to underestimate a woman of my age.
40:27I'm going to tell you a secret.
40:31I'm not supposed to be here.
40:33I've been suspended.
40:35And if my supervisor knew I was picking you up,
40:37I'd be busted down to death to you, Ian Croydon,
40:39if I came out the good side of his arse.
40:41Why are you telling me all this?
40:43Because I've just laid eyes on some information
40:45no one else has seen yet.
40:47And since I won't get a chance with you in an interview room,
40:49I thought I should ask now.
40:51This is a photo of an MI5 agent named Wakefield.
41:00Turned up on an encrypted drive
41:02belonging to a dead woman named Soledad Marcel.
41:06But I made some calls.
41:08An MI5 had never heard of an agent, Wakefield.
41:11Sounds like she's quite the imposter.
41:13Mm.
41:13Well, you should know.
41:17We've been all over London with her.
41:20I'll tell you what, let's circle back to that.
41:23Because the thing that's a real head spinner is this.
41:29Just one hour after you apparently killed two souls
41:32in a London flat,
41:33you're all the way back at JFK,
41:35boarding a flight to Heathrow.
41:36Now, how is that possible?
41:42You might be very surprised by what's possible.
41:45What's your name?
41:48Ridge.
41:49Ridge.
41:52You strike me as someone who's been overlooked,
41:55but who has quite a bit of potential.
42:36I don't know.
43:06I don't know.
43:36They're ready for you downstairs, sir.
43:55Go ahead.
44:09Target is in sight.
44:11Very good.
44:13Shall I bring her in?
44:14Now, let's see who she leads us to.
44:44Let's go.
44:46Let's go.
44:48Let's go.
44:50Let's go.
44:52Let's go.
44:54Let's go.
44:56Let's go.
44:58I don't know.
45:28Do you know why you're here?
45:48You've been training a little army of half-bred vampires
45:53in the London Mother House.
45:58Now that, that is a no-no.
46:09Whoever the hell you are,
46:11why don't you just kill me and get it over with?
46:15No.
46:16No.
46:17I prefer to show you my vast benevolence.
46:23Offer you an alternative.
46:26Quid pro quo.
46:29You help me,
46:30I help you.
46:32Something
46:33for something.
46:36For something.
46:36Who are you?
46:59My name is Haussmann.
47:05And I am the man who watches.
47:12Tell me,
47:14how many vampires
47:16would you say are
47:17in the world?
47:19Not enough.
47:37Come.
47:38Come.
47:38What is this?
48:06It's your destiny.
48:11Better get to work.
48:13Come.
48:13Hey.
48:15I got to be here.
48:16I got to be here.
48:25Come.
48:26Hey.
48:51You're going to be okay out there?
48:54Yeah. On your own?
48:58Never, never, before.
49:01The world's a big place.
49:05So, where are you going to go?
49:13Oh, Guy. It's okay. You don't have to tell him.
49:16I think, um...
49:19I think I know where your mother is.
49:26I don't know where your mother is.
49:29I don't know where your mother is.
49:33There's heres.
49:41There's Nick James when she comes to work.
49:44D.N.A. wasn't yours.
50:09Belongs to your friend.
50:11Ellen's her name, right?
50:14How does it ring a bell?
50:24I don't want you to get hurt.
50:26We can't just run off together.
50:28The early going of episode 6 is all our chaos.
50:31Because you've got Doris, who Guy believes that she's got the 752.
50:35He thinks that Helen has killed Kepis.
50:37All of this stuff is coming to a real head here.
50:41He doesn't really know who to trust.
50:42The center cut between Helen at Jamieson's house.
50:47What was the program for?
50:48What did you want with Emma?
50:49Who's this?
50:50And Guy and Doris at the police station.
50:52No idea.
50:53What we come to find in these scenes is not only Helen realizing that the 752 is not a book.
51:00It's not something.
51:01It's not an object to be searched for.
51:03That it is her sister.
51:06Doris.
51:07Doris.
51:07How could that be?
51:08They're different ages.
51:10Well, she's a vampire.
51:113, 2, 1, action!
51:15It was a massive stunt day.
51:17And we were using a rubber knife.
51:19It's a knife fight.
51:22I think they're always actually a lot more sprungy than you think.
51:26I got stabbed twice.
51:27I didn't die.
51:29And lucky that knife was rubber.
51:30But we had fun with it.
51:31I'm grabbing Maisie.
51:32I'm dragging her.
51:34She's stabbing me here.
51:35I'm telling her to stab me too much.
51:37It was a lot of fun.
51:38Hey!
51:39Hey!
51:39Hey!
51:40Hey!
51:40Hey!
51:40Hey!

51:46Hey!
51:46Hey!
51:47Hey!
51:48Hey!
51:49Hey!
51:50Hey!
51:51Hey!

52:01Hey!
52:02Hey!
52:03Hey!
52:04Hey!
52:05Hey!
52:06Hey!
52:07Hey!
52:08Hey!
52:09Hey!
52:10Hey!
52:11Hey!
52:12Hey!
52:13Hey!
52:14Hey!
52:15Hey!
52:16Hey!
52:17Hey!
52:18Hey!
52:19Hey!
52:20me what you are? I always knew who she was and so it was kind of a relief once
52:26those scripts were out and everyone knew because I could I could be honest
52:31about who this character was. The 752 isn't a book. It's you. It is a
52:39heartbreaking story that she's been groomed much like Guy has and treated
52:43as kind of a specimen to the Talamasker and turned into this big holding cell
52:48for Talamasker Intel. The detective had the right DNA. For the wrong twin.
52:59We got him. When Jasper who's gotten you know way out ahead of his skis goes too
53:04far for Talamasker they dispatched their cleanup crew. I know what you did in
53:10Maida Vale and I won't put up with any more of it. Well I just think that Jasper
53:13just takes one look at him like I'm sorry. Come again. You have no idea what you're
53:20toying with Jasper. That was one of my favorite scenes in the whole season
53:24especially to do with him with Johnny.
53:30And then of course you know great storytelling all of a sudden
53:34I'm in a carpet and I've got a metal cage on my head.
53:41Bruce Wayne.
53:41And I'm like see the two stunt guys see this nose here? Don't break it.
53:52Come on.
53:53We have to be out of this train station before five in the morning because you know it's a train station.
53:59Well people need to go somewhere.
54:01We shot those scenes all through the night in a freezing cold station and before we started I was
54:07thinking how am I going to do this at my age but the commitment of this crew it just lifts you up and
54:15you just want to do anything in order to not let them down. I feel like we're all pieces in this big
54:23sort of puzzle and it's kind of cool to see the whole collage come together.
54:27Can you see it?
54:28You start wide and get tighter and tighter and tighter both emotionally and from a camera standpoint.
54:34You'll see something.
54:36It's all done without dialogue. All done through their thoughts.
54:42For us it's the kind of freshness of seeing each other for the first time.
54:48God has become the perfect spy that she hoped he could become.
54:53Oh he can do this. Sorry.
54:55He can be a spy and he probably has the ability now to go after and find his mom.
55:02She's saving them from the town of Maska and she's saving them from herself.
55:07I'll take her.
55:07The cliffhangers at the end I hope are provocative and have viewers asking what if type questions.
55:18What is this?
55:19It's your destiny.
55:21I want this. I want more vampires.
55:25Hey, at this point they're probably trying to make the best of a bad situation.
55:30I think I know where your mother is.
55:31Doris basically gets what she wants by revealing that she might know where his mother is.
55:36I don't even know if it's an ending.
55:39They're still on a big old journey.
55:40We're still on an ensemble.
55:42Let's do that.
55:44Let's do that.
