A long-simmering feud is about to explode in Washington as President Donald Trump prepares for a high-stakes White House meeting with Rep. Zohran Mamdani after months of heated attacks, fiery statements, and escalating political insults. What began as a war of words has snowballed into a national spectacle, with both sides refusing to back down. As tensions peak, all eyes are now on this face-off that could reshape the political narrative in the capital.
00:01As President Donald Trump prepares to meet New York City Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani for the first time at the White House,
00:09the encounter comes after months of fierce public attacks, insults, and political jobs from both sides.
00:17But the Communist, Marxist, Socialist, and Globalist had their chance and they delivered nothing but disaster.
00:24And Mamdani, whatever the hell his name is in.
00:26If certain people are allowed to violate that law, whether they be the president or whether they be the agents themselves,
00:31persecute or prosecute or punish the people of this city, then I will fight him on that.
00:35We don't need a Communist in this country, but if we have one, I'm going to be watching over them very carefully.
00:40If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.
00:47If there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power.
00:56Their meeting may be framed as an opportunity to work together, but the rhetoric leading up to it tells a far more explosive story.
01:06President Trump has repeatedly attacked Mamdani in highly personal terms.
01:11One, Trump has routinely labeled Mamdani, a democratic socialist, as a communist, calling him my little communist mayor, a communist lunatic, and 100% communist lunatic.
01:27He warned voters that electing Mamdani would turn New York City into a left-wing disaster.
01:33Two, despite Mamdani being a naturalized U.S. citizen, Trump publicly suggested he might not be in the country legally.
01:43He even floated the possibility of arresting Mamdani if he interfered with federal immigration enforcement.
01:50A immigration speech said he will defy ICE and will not allow ICE to arrest criminal aliens in New York City.
01:56Three, before Mamdani's victory, Trump warned that New York City could lose federal funding if he became mayor.
02:16After Mamdani won, Trump softened, slightly, saying he would help them a little bit, maybe.
02:24But the communist, Marxist, socialists, and globalists had their chance and they delivered nothing but disaster.
02:31And now let's see how a communist does in New York.
02:34We're going to see how that works out.
02:37We'll help them. We'll help them.
02:39We want New York to be successful.
02:41We'll help them a little bit, maybe.
02:43Four, Trump posted that any Jewish voter supporting Mamdani was stupid, accusing the mayor-elect of being anti-Israel, a claim Mamdani denied.
02:55Five, at an event in Miami, Trump referred to him dismissively as Mamdani or whatever the hell his name is.
03:03Crazy.
03:05And Mamdani, whatever the hell his name is in New York.
03:09No, no, no, no, he thinks it's wonderful to have men playing in women's sports.
03:15While Mamdani often speaks in the language of policy, he is not held back when criticizing the president.
03:23One.
03:24Mamdani has railed against Trump's immigration raids and said they harm vulnerable communities.
03:30When President Trump wants to do something that will benefit this city, I will be there to say as much.
03:35But if he is looking to persecute or prosecute or punish the people of this city by virtue of who they are or where they live or where they came from, then I will fight him on that.
03:45I think too often we have had a style of leadership that seeks to put oneself before the people that you're looking to serve.
03:51And my city hall will do the opposite.
03:53Two.
03:54Responding to Trump's attacks, Mamdani said his positions were frequently misrepresented because he is the first Muslim mayor-elect of New York City.
04:04Three.
04:05Mamdani said Trump aimed to intimidate him and New Yorkers resisting federal deportation policies.
04:12My message to ICE agents and to everyone across this city is that everyone will be held to the same standard of the law.
04:23If you violate the law, you must be held accountable.
04:25And there is sadly a sense that is growing across this country that certain people are allowed to violate that law, whether they be the president or whether they be the agents themselves.
04:35And what New Yorkers are looking for is an era of consistency, an era of clarity, an era of conviction.
04:41And that is what we will deliver to them.
04:43And I am looking forward to having conversations with Mayor Adams and his administration about the work of the transition to ensure that the handover is a seamless one and that it is one that benefits the shared work we all have to deliver for the people who call the city home.
04:59He argued that Trump's administration made life more expensive and less safe for residents.
05:07During his victory speech, Mamdani directly addressed Trump, saying, Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, turn the volume up.
05:17He added that New Yorkers, the city Trump came from, knew better than anyone how to defeat him politically.
05:23If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump, how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.
05:36And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power.
05:45This is not only how we stop Trump, it's how we stop the next one.
05:57So Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you.
06:07Turn the volume up.
06:09We will hold bad landlords to account because the Donald Trumps of our city have grown far too comfortable.
06:39taking advantage of their tenants.
06:43We will put an end to the culture of corruption that has allowed billionaires like Trump to evade taxation and exploit tax breaks.
06:54We will stand alongside unions and expand labor protections because we know,
07:01just as Donald Trump does,
07:05that when working people have ironclad rights,
07:09the bosses who seek to extort them become very small indeed.
07:16New York will remain a city of immigrants,
07:20a city built by immigrants,
07:23powered by immigrants.
07:25We will stand by immigrants.
07:27And as of tonight,
07:29led by an immigrant.
07:31So hear me, President Trump, when I say this,
07:35So hear me, President Trump, when I say this.
07:51To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.
07:56Despite all the hostility, both men insist their upcoming White House meeting is about
08:06the people, not personal fights.
08:09Trump's Kim says he is ready to talk to anyone on behalf of the American people.
08:15Mamdani says he will work with Trump on any policy that helps New Yorkers and oppose anything
08:21that harms them.
08:23Still, with so many insults exchanged, this meeting promises to be anything but ordinary.
