00:00I wasn't sure if I was going to share this but I do think that any awareness of this awful condition
00:05is so important. So I'm having a laparoscopy surgery for my endometriosis so this is a keyhole
00:11surgery on your tummy and the idea is to remove as much as possible and hopefully get some relief
00:17from my symptoms. I packed some spare clothes, peppermint tea, a robe, slippers and a pillow to
00:23place over my tummy for the way home and some period mickers in there as well and some snacks
00:28and drinks for after the surgery because obviously this is fasted and I was actually fasted in total
00:33by the time I'd had my surgery 24 hours so I was quite hangry by the end. Alison and Derma luckily
00:40gave me some entertainment while I was waiting in the hospital so you do a urine sample and you are
00:46allowed sips of water then you're given stockings, a robe and some disposable knickers that the nurse
00:52will tell you when you need to put these on. I was obviously put to sleep and had my surgery and
00:56brought back to my room to have some food. I was so hungry but one mouthful made me feel so sick
01:02they gave me some anti-nausea medication which sent me to sleep almost immediately. I did not know that
01:08that was the side effect of it. So this was the day after and I'm so shocked how little the little
01:13wounds are and I haven't really got any swelling or bruising. I did get a little bit of blood so put a
01:19dressing on one of them. I feel fragile, a little bit sore and tender and being super careful with not
01:25picking anything up that's heavy and just taking all my movements slow but to be honest I've been
01:31really pleasantly surprised with my recovery. I just presumed it would be a lot worse which is one
01:38of the reasons why I've put this surgery off for so long. I kind of the fear of the unknown, I didn't
01:42know how hard the recovery would be so I really hope this video helps anyone that's trying to make the
01:49decision at the moment. I know everyone's recovery and endo journey is going to look completely unique
01:55to them but I'm sending my love to anybody going through this or something similar.
