00:00Losing my mum in 2019 and my auntie back in early 2000s, there was this sort of generational trauma within the women in my family.
00:10Without even knowing it, it affects the every day.
00:14And my mum just put it off. She just didn't want to know.
00:17She always believed she was going to die of cancer, but she didn't know about the gene.
00:22It was just there in this sort of subconscious thing.
00:25And so for me to be given the opportunity to make a choice and seeing what it's done to my family, in all honesty, it was a no brainer for me.
00:37And so it's very, very kind when people say, oh, goodness, you've been brave.
00:40And I suppose I just see that I've had a lucky, lucky shot.
00:45You know, everyone has the Baraka gene, but it's where some people have the gene that's faulty and it's a 50 percent chance that it's passed down.
