00:00Look at it, like the flyways everywhere, it's uneven.
00:04I'm dead!
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most riveting, hilarious, and unforgettable moments from the first five seasons of Canada's Drag Race.
00:15We'll be excluding moments from the show's spinoffs, Canada vs. the World and Slaycation, as those deserve their own list.
00:30Number 10. Jada Shada Hudson's Ghost Encounter
00:33We've all had moments that felt just a little too spooky for comfort.
00:37During the Rusical episode, Season 3 runner-up Jada Shada Hudson decided to share her own ghostly tale.
00:42She explained that one night, she was fast asleep when she felt a weird presence in her room.
01:00The door was open, and I'm just like, what's going on?
01:03She brushed it off and went back to bed, but the next morning, something felt off, specifically with her backside.
01:09You know, if you did the do, you know, like how you feel afterwards?
01:15Like it was pulsing and stuff, and I was just like, I didn't have sex, like whistly or nothing.
01:19Confused and curious, Jada turned to Google and discovered she wasn't the only one with such an experience.
01:25Bear in mind, this story came out of nowhere, and once it dropped, the queens could not contain their amusement.
01:31You know what? Good for you. Good for the ghost.
01:34Did he at least leave his number?
01:361-800-BOOF
01:38What do you get when you cross a drag queen and a ghost?
01:41We hope we'll never have to find out.
01:44Number 9. Mikayla Couture Goes Off on XANA
01:47Although she was a fierce performer, Mikayla Couture had the common weakness of not being a strong seamstress.
01:53Mikayla, over in that corner, she is giggling, she is crying, she is screaming.
02:01I got nothing.
02:03After receiving negative critiques in the Fast Fashion episode, she made noticeable progress by the next design challenge and was praised for it.
02:10However, just as Mikayla was basking in her joy, XANA tried to undercut her by pointing out her flaws.
02:16Your wardrobe malfunction literally malfunctioned on that runway.
02:18Yes, your runway was cute, but Brooklyn did trip up on it.
02:22Like, you had one of the only ones that she did fumble just slightly on it.
02:26I'm sorry.
02:26Things got really heated really fast.
02:29Mikayla exploded at XANA, accusing her of trying to ruin her moment and insisting she would never do the same.
02:36No point in this f***ing competition have I ever tried to make you feel low.
02:40And every single time I'm feeling good about myself, you try to bring me down.
02:46At one point, she was screaming so loudly that even the judges deliberating on the main stage could hear her.
02:51In the end, although XANA had tried to dampen Mikayla's success, it was she who ended up getting eliminated.
02:57I am Mikayla motherf***ing Couture.
03:00Don't ever try to make me feel small because I don't do that to you.
03:04You are disgusting and you've truly lost a friend because I'm done with you.
03:09Done!
03:10Number 8.
03:10Eve 6000 has a trick up her sleeve.
03:13The under-the-big-top rusical featured some of the best and worst rusical performances in Drag Race Herstory.
03:19On the one hand, there were standouts like Pythia and Cynthia Kiss, who delivered impressive vocals.
03:24I thought clowning would be so simple for me.
03:30But where do I fit?
03:32What kind of clown is this?
03:39On the other, there was Eve 6000, whose turn as Ravigliana went spectacularly off the rails.
03:45The role called for a series of obvious but hilarious reveals.
03:48Yet everything that could go wrong did.
03:51I got a trick up my sleeve.
03:54A stunt that the crowd won't be.
03:58Leave.
03:58But I keep them guessing, guessing.
04:00Her reveal dress rode up so high that the surprise was spoiled before it even began.
04:05Then her second wig fell off prematurely, resulting in the now iconic moment when she calmly picked it up from the floor and performed the reveal again.
04:13You were gooped and gagged.
04:15And you can't believe it.
04:17Now here's another one.
04:19And you didn't see it coming.
04:22This was pure camp.
04:23And honestly, she should have won the episode for it.
04:25Number 7.
04:27The Roast of Brooklyn Heights
04:28This was easily one of the cringiest episodes of the season.
04:32Kendall Gender kicked things off with a decent set and ultimately won the challenge.
04:36When we were getting an explanation about this whole roast, they were like,
04:41The roast is gonna be about the icon, the legend, the star, the queen of the north.
04:47And I, like everyone, assumed that meant Priyanka.
04:50However, she was by no means the best of the night.
04:53That honor goes to Isis Couture, who stormed the stage with one hilarious joke after another,
04:58but lost the win after running overtime.
05:00Her peak moment came when she dropped a priceless facial expression in response to the genius title
05:05of Brad Goreski's book.
05:07Just think about it.
05:08He was like born and then named like Brad.
05:12So he was like born to be Brad.
05:19Everyone else bombed spectacularly.
05:22Geometric spent half her set talking about herself before remembering Brooklyn existed.
05:26Your face is so stiff.
05:28If I had a rock, we could knock them together to make a fire.
05:34While Kimora Amour closed with a profanity-laced rant that confused volume for punchlines.
05:39By the time that uncomfortable lip sync rolled around, we were all begging for the credits.
05:48Number 6.
05:53The Controversial Judging
05:54Harsh critiques are not new on Drag Race.
06:09Michelle Visage practically built her brand on them.
06:11But there's a certain tact that was missing on the first season of Canada's Drag Race,
06:16especially from Jeffrey Boyer Chapman.
06:18He came under intense criticism from fans for his critiques,
06:21which were seen as more mean-spirited than constructive.
06:24It began with his exchange with Jimbo,
06:27where he criticized the Queen for not covering her entire body in white makeup.
06:30We are given a very limited amount of time to construct these looks,
06:35paint our faces, prepare.
06:37I hear you, girl.
06:38Everyone gets the same amount of time.
06:41Use it better, maybe.
06:44Then, just two episodes later,
06:46Boyer Chapman made some comments about Ilona Verley's runway presentation
06:49that were interpreted as body-shaming.
06:51I think that your mug is painted so gorgeously.
06:56However, when I see that booty and the little turnaround,
07:00a little full-coverage foundation may have helped you out.
07:03While his delivery was questionable, the response was far worse.
07:07He became the target of a wave of racist harassment.
07:09Ultimately, Boyer Chapman did not return as a judge the following season.
07:13Number 5. Melinda Verga vs. The World
07:16This season simply would not have been the same without Melinda Verga.
07:27Her fiery side truly emerged in the Out of the Closet episode,
07:30where she landed in the bottom three for failing to elevate her original garment enough.
07:34While the other bottom queens fought hard for the Golden Beaver,
07:38Melinda seemed to throw in the towel.
07:39This move didn't sit well with the other queens,
07:42and their responses led to Melinda losing it.
07:44I know the thought and effort that I put into this,
07:48and it's not worth what I just f***ing heard on that goddamn f***ing runway today.
07:54Although Kiki Ko ultimately saved her,
07:56Melinda had yet another emotional outburst in the following episode,
07:59when Denham rehashed the issue of her feeling defeated.
08:02And she saved me, and I...
08:04And that's not what I said.
08:05...decided not to decline,
08:06which I was ready to.
08:08I decided not to decline,
08:10because this person here showed kindness.
08:14Kiki's decision ultimately proved worthwhile,
08:16as Melinda redeemed herself in the Snatch Game.
08:19For that, we join Melinda in reciprocating her act with gratitude.
08:23Number 4.
08:24The Sabotage of Miss Fiercealicious
08:25On the third season of Canada's Drag Race,
08:28the theme might as well have been sabotage.
08:30In the Rouettes episode,
08:32Bombay and Miss Fiercealicious were paired for the challenge,
08:35and requested peanut butter as their song.
08:37Let's talk about who, like, what we want as groups.
08:40We would like peanut butter.
08:42Okay, y'all would like peanut butter.
08:43Yeah.
08:43Does anyone else want peanut butter?
08:45Y'all want peanut butter as well.
08:47However, as another group also wanted that song,
08:50Vivian Vanderpuss randomly assigned them
08:52the slower track that no one else wanted.
08:54This infuriated Fiercealicious,
08:56who immediately accused Vivian
08:57of sabotaging her on purpose.
08:59I wanted peanut butter or literally any upbeat song,
09:02and I got stuck with Let the Music Play.
09:06This feels like sabotage.
09:07Is she trying to bring me down
09:08just because I was in the top last week?
09:10From that moment,
09:11the idea of sabotage became Fiercealicious' obsession.
09:14She was convinced that every setback
09:16was part of a plot to keep her from the crown.
09:18In the end,
09:29the supposed saboteurs prevailed
09:31as Fiercealicious fell short of the top two.
09:34Regardless,
09:34there is no denying she owned the season.
09:37Number three,
09:38not sorry about it.
09:39Hi, it's me, Priyanka.
09:41What's my name?
09:42Name, Toronto voted me the best.
09:45Get this fame, fame.
09:46Hi, Canada.
09:47Did you get my name?
09:49Not a copycat fish.
09:50Did you get my name?
09:51As the first English-language version
09:53of the show not hosted by RuPaul,
09:55fans were eager to see
09:56if Canada's drag race could stand on its own.
09:59Many agreed it hit its stride
10:00in the third episode.
10:02The queens were split into two groups
10:04and tasked with writing and performing verses
10:05to not sorry about it.
10:07Sorry, not sorry.
10:10Sorry, I'm not sorry.
10:14Sorry, you won't make me apologize.
10:17And I'm not sorry about it.
10:22Unlike other franchises,
10:23both groups stayed on stage throughout,
10:26duking it out like a rap battle.
10:27This was where many queens
10:29really established their drag personas.
10:31Priyanka constantly referencing her name
10:33and Lemon becoming the show's resident rapstress.
10:35Ain't no queen,
10:36rap it back like I do.
10:37When I step in the room,
10:38girls quake.
10:39Scarlet stars,
10:40he always safe.
10:41Rita's old and alone to be fake.
10:43And that last girl,
10:44what's her name?
10:45We also got iconic moments
10:46from queens like Kiara and Boa.
10:56But while their verses were fire,
10:58the choreography was a hot mess.
11:00Still,
11:01we wouldn't have it any other way.
11:03Number two,
11:04the makeover.
11:05After a somewhat negative tone
11:07in the first season,
11:08the show made a deliberate effort
11:09to turn things around in season two.
11:11That stride of positivity
11:12hit its peak in the makeover episode,
11:14where the queens were tasked
11:16with transforming LGBTQIA plus teens
11:18into their drag daughters for prom.
11:20Please help me welcome to the workroom,
11:22Ethan.
11:24Oh my God.
11:25Friday.
11:26Oh.
11:27Mikayla.
11:27Oh my God.
11:28Alex.
11:29And Clover.
11:30Oh my God.
11:31Instead of being a saboteur,
11:33Kendall Gender thoughtfully paired each queen
11:35with their perfect match.
11:37We were then introduced
11:38to the teenager's unique perspectives,
11:40particularly Mikayla,
11:41who shared her experiences
11:42as a black trans girl.
11:43When I was in grade six,
11:44someone lit my locker on fire.
11:47Are you serious?
11:48Yeah.
11:48Why?
11:49Someone lit my locker on fire.
11:50Just for being hateful?
11:52I think that's like when I realized
11:53that like,
11:54I'm very, very different
11:56from everyone else
11:57and like,
11:58I'm alone in this fight.
12:00Each teen got their moment to shine,
12:02but Pathea and her partner Clover
12:03ultimately won
12:04for their striking gender-bending prom look.
12:06This episode was our first introduction
12:08to Mikayla,
12:09who continued performing in drag
12:11and later competed
12:12on the show's fifth season.
12:14You might know me
12:14from season two
12:15of Canada's Drag Race.
12:17I was one of the makeover guests
12:18on the prom episode.
12:21Being the daughter of a winner
12:23is only going to inspire me
12:25to work harder.
12:26Before we unveil our top pick,
12:28here are some honorable mentions.
12:30Jimbo reads Rita Bega to filth.
12:32Jimbo goes on the defensive
12:34after receiving some unsolicited advice
12:36from Rita.
12:36Your lace line looks like
12:39your hair is fried.
12:42A wig should go directly
12:43in the gum.
12:44Oh, the girls are fencing.
12:46Baby, I'm just trying to help.
12:48I mean, your hair looks like
12:50a grandma just dunked her head
12:52in the toilet.
12:53Lemon in the reading challenge.
12:55She really slammed the library door
12:57in Priyanka's face.
12:58Priyanka,
12:59you talk about having sex a lot,
13:00but the only thing you're f***ing
13:02is stupid.
13:07Isis Couture's bad knees.
13:09The oldest knees in the competition
13:11miraculously turned back
13:12the clock for the lip sync.
13:13I am here to show
13:15that I actually
13:16am a dancer.
13:18Yes!
13:19Remember when I said
13:21I had bad knees?
13:22Yes!
13:23I lied, bitch.
13:25Vivian Vanderpuss' date
13:26with Brooklyn Heights.
13:27Her Australian character
13:29certainly left Brooklyn
13:30in stitches, eh?
13:31Has anyone ever told you
13:32your eyes look like
13:33water coolers?
13:34No!
13:35I want to stand around them
13:36and talk about other things.
13:37Thank you!
13:44Very beautiful.
13:44Thank you, I appreciate that.
13:46Lip sync slayoffs.
13:48A slight format change
13:49made this lip sync extravaganza
13:51one of the most entertaining yet.
13:52Black velvet
13:54and that little boy's smile
13:57Black velvet
13:59with that slow southern sky
14:02A new religion
14:04that I'll bring up to me

14:24Number 1.
14:25Snatch Game
14:26I'm wondering
14:27what the hell
14:27I did in my last life
14:29to end up
14:29in the bottom
14:30of the wastebasket
14:31with these hairballs.
14:32Oh and I also brought
14:34Edgar
14:34I don't go anywhere
14:36without Edgar's ashes.
14:39The first season
14:40of Canada's Drag Race
14:41set the bar
14:42extremely high
14:43for Snatch Game
14:43and we doubt
14:44it will ever be topped.
14:46After consistently
14:47doing well
14:47Jimbo finally snatched
14:49a win
14:49with her unhinged
14:50impression
14:51of comedy icon
14:52Joan Rivers
14:52but that was
14:53no easy victory.
14:55Other queens
14:55also fought hard
14:56with standout turns
14:58from Lemon
14:58Rita Bega
14:59and Ilona Verley.
15:00Could you do me
15:00a favor
15:01and spell out
15:02how you pronounce
15:02cock
15:03because I'm very
15:03curious to see
15:04what that looks like.
15:06See
15:07orc
15:09The queens
15:10did a great job
15:11volleying with each other
15:12and building hilarious
15:13and unexpected connections
15:14between their characters.
15:15I keep clicking
15:16my goddamn heels
15:17together like Judy.
15:19Don't you talk
15:19about my mother
15:20like that.
15:21Your mother and I
15:22invented the Snatch Game
15:23okay?
15:24You miss your mother?
15:24Smell my goddamn fingers.
15:26But amid the highs
15:29came some spectacular lows
15:30particularly from
15:31Priyanka and Kiara
15:33whose bumbling responses
15:34bordered on
15:35so bad they're good territory.
15:36Did you buy my new album?
15:38No.
15:38What's it called?
15:39It's called
15:39Honey
15:40This is Christmas Baby.
15:42Oh god.
15:42It's called Honey
15:43Apostrophe
15:44This is Christmas Baby.
15:45Oh yes honey.
15:46At least
15:47their horrible performances
15:48led to the show-stopping
15:49lip-sync that closed
15:50the episode.
15:51So we'll count that
15:52as a win.
