00:00Every now and then I throw one of my own in there that I've already had saved up.
00:03Met Pilaf. Pilaf's obsessed with me.
00:06I'm going to tell Demi she's been reduced to Pilaf's mom.
00:09Billy, it's great to see you. You look so cool. I know you would be cool.
00:13You're just the coolest cucumber, aren't you?
00:17Landman season two, very excited. I love this show.
00:20How are you feeling about the fact that season two is already out there in the sphere?
00:26It feels great. And we're very proud of this season.
00:29And I think audiences are going to like it because in season one, the audience got to know these characters a little bit.
00:37But we set up the world of the oil business a lot in season one.
00:41And this one, you really get to dig deeper into the characters.
00:45And they've all become, you know, all fans have favorite characters and want to see where they're going and that kind of thing.
00:54So we're very excited for people to see it.
00:57And this season is a bit more of a slow burn, whereas the first season started out with a bang, literally, and kind of didn't let up.
01:06But this one sneaks in there and each episode just gets deeper and deeper and deeper.
01:11And I love that about it.
01:12Honestly, slow burn is good for me because otherwise I've got no self-control.
01:16So I would just binge it all.
01:17So I like the fact that it's weekly because then you can actually like properly digest it.
01:21Do you know what I mean?
01:22Right, right.
01:23As we would say in Scotland, Tommy Norris is some man.
01:25What a guy.
01:26Honestly, I love him.
01:27I think he's great.
01:28How much fun do you have playing this character?
01:30I have so much fun playing it.
01:32I mean, I think that's reflected on screen.
01:36I think the audience knows when you're into it.
01:40If you're just walking through something, people are not stupid.
01:44They can tell.
01:46And I have to say that all the cast members in this feel the same way.
01:50We're a very tight group and with a wonderful chemistry and we all feel, we all feel the characters.
02:01And what's great about Taylor is he writes so clearly for each person.
02:07You know, a lot of writers write in their own voice.
02:10And when you can have seven characters and they all kind of sound the same, right?
02:16On this show, everybody is a very specific personality and it's a rare treat.
02:24And we love going to work every day.
02:27I love his one-liners.
02:28Do you ever take any of his insults and keep them for the back of your head for in real life?
02:33Because I do.
02:34Oh, yeah.
02:35Oh, for sure.
02:36I mean, and some of them, you know, every now and then I throw one of my own in there that I've
02:42already had saved up.
02:44But, yeah, those one-liners have become, you know, people have videos and memes and stuff
02:52of some of them and all that kind of stuff.
02:54So, yeah, they're pretty cool.
02:56That's when you know it's good.
02:58You know what I mean?
02:59That's when it's getting memed or TikTok.
03:01That's when you know you're doing a good job.
03:03I also love the relationship between your character and Ali's character.
03:06I love the way they spar.
03:07I mean, how fun is that?
03:09It's the best.
03:10I mean, and honestly, I've said this before, I know, but I have to repeat it.
03:15In real life, it's not a lot different.
03:18I mean, when I was out with her last night, it's, she is, wherever she says we're going,
03:25that's pretty much where we go.
03:26You know, every now and then I drag her off to one of my joints, but not very often.
03:31And she, last night she wanted two things, caviar and champagne at the nice place.
03:38And then let's, it's, it's too early to go in.
03:41Let's go to a dive bar, which we did.
03:44So, she kind of leads me around by the ear.
03:47And that's balance.
03:48Do you know what I mean?
03:49I like that.
03:50Women have to moan heart.
03:51I really like that.
03:52It's great.
03:53Do you know who looked amazing last night as well?
03:55Demi on the carpet.
03:56I mean, honestly.
03:57Oh, so beautiful.
03:58So beautiful.
03:59What is it like working with her?
04:01And please tell me that you've met Pilaf.
04:03Met Pilaf?
04:04Pilaf's obsessed with me.
04:06No, Pilaf and I've known each other a long time.
04:10And ever since, I mean, pretty much after she got her.
04:14And Pilaf will literally, when we're doing interviews side by side,
04:19and Pilaf, she brings her in, Pilaf jumps on my lap.
04:24Because she has this intuition, like animals do.
04:28Because I have anxiety disorder.
04:30Really bad.
04:31You know?
04:32And I have all kinds of other, what they call afflictions, I guess.
04:37And Pilaf recognizes that.
04:40And she knows that I need her on my lap to kind of calm me down a little bit.
04:44You know?
04:45And so, yeah.
04:47I'm close with that dog.
04:48Oh, I love that so much.
04:50You know, I was kind of looking for her in the corridor.
04:52I'm absolutely obsessed with Pilaf.
04:54And, of course, to me.
04:55I mean, she's an icon as well.
04:56Oh, yes, she is.
04:57But Pilaf has become this phenomenon.
04:58She has become a phenomenon.
05:00Have you met Pilaf?
05:01No.
05:02Oh, you haven't?
05:03I haven't met Pilaf.
05:04I'm desperate to meet Pilaf.
05:05Oh, you've got to do it.
05:06I know.
05:07When we finish the interview, I've got, after you, I've got four.
05:11I'll hang around.
05:13Hang around.
05:14I'll introduce you to Pilaf.
05:15Do it.
05:16I'll actually lose my head.
05:17I love Pilaf.
05:18But I was also working with Pilaf's mum.
05:21Oh, my God.
05:23I'm going to tell Demi she's been reduced to Pilaf's mum.
05:26Pilaf's mum.
05:27Yeah.
05:28So, well, Demi and I go way back.
05:31We've known each other a long time.
05:33And we knew each other through Bruce, mainly.
05:36I mean, I had worked.
05:37I did a couple of scenes in a movie with her years and years back that she doesn't remember
05:42or I remember.
05:43But one way or the other, I did three movies with Bruce.
05:48And she would always bring the kids to the set and stuff.
05:52So I watched their daughters grow up.
05:54And they watched my daughter and sons grow up.
05:57So it's, you know, it's old home week with us.
06:01So it's a great opportunity now to be able to work with each other on a regular basis.
06:07You know, same goes for Sam Elliott.
06:10Sam and I have known each other longer than any of them.
06:14And now I've done two things with Sam.
06:19But both times it was a couple of scenes.
06:23Now we get to see each other every day.
06:25And it's just amazing.
06:27And, you know, for the first time in my life, I can honestly say I have no complaints.
06:34You know, I feel blessed every day.
06:36I love that so much, honestly.
06:38It's been such a pleasure chatting to you.
06:41You're such a nice man.
06:42Oh, back at you.
06:43Honestly.
06:44Nice girl.
06:45Thank you very much.
06:46Are you Glasgow?
06:47Yes.
06:48And you know what, I actually have for once, I did travel down on the sleeper train last night
06:52because I was at the BAFTA Scotland Awards.
06:54So I then came overnight.
06:55I went and chatted to Renee Zellweger in Leicester Square because she got a Bridget Jones statue.
07:00And then I've come straight here.
07:01So I don't know whether it's New Year or New York.
07:03That's an expression we see in Scotland.
07:04Right, right.
07:05But I'm here.
07:06That's awesome.
07:07I was in Glasgow two years ago for about three or four days.
07:11Yeah.
07:12Did you like it?
07:13Loved it.
07:14They would love you as well.
07:15I played there.
07:16The band and I played there at the garage, we call it.
07:19The garage?
07:20Yeah.
07:21The garage?
07:22The garage.
07:23I love that.
07:24The garage.
07:25The garage is a place that's a good and bad memories from the garage, you know, growing
07:28up.
07:29Oh, yeah.
07:30Yeah.
07:31It's one of those places.
07:32There.
07:33I bet you get some good memories from that.
07:34I do.
07:35Absolutely.
07:36But not for the camera.
07:37Listen, thank you so much.
07:39So nice to meet you.
07:40Honestly, you're such a lovely person.
07:42Thank you so much.
07:43What a pleasure.
07:44What a pleasure.
07:45And I'm serious about that.
07:47If you stick around.
07:48I'm going to wait.
07:49I'm going to wait.
07:50Okay.
07:51Yeah, I'll get you an introduction to Pilaf.
07:52Yeah.
07:53Thanks, Jay.
